Kitchen aid KF7 or KF8 I have a Jura Z10 that I would recommend. It’s probably outside your price range, but you could probably get a refurbished one off their site for your range.
Lets' be real here, if you spent time in this sub then you saw the negatives about the z10/giga 10 but you chose to ignore them. I am one of the nay sayers. The Jura E4 makes the same espresso as the z10. Lots of people have talked about the joe app being functional but not practical. No coffee phone apps are practical. People in this sub are dumb half the z10 ravers don't want to admit they over spent for little performance over a Miele or Kitchenaid, the others rave about it because its bragging about how much they spent, meanwhile the z10 is half the price in most of europe. 95% of the people in this sub act like they are coffee experts swear by Super Creme and their choice of drink is 11 ounces of milk to 1 oz of espresso on a #5 grind. That isn't coffee. They don't get it any of it. They don't even know how to brew espresso. If it makes you feel better the giga 10 is even worse in terms of cheap plastic. I wanted the two hoppers though. Your post seems more like buyers remorse. If you need help brewing ok espresso all you have to do is set the grinder to the fine setting and watch your ratios. Keep coffee on high strength 1.5oz max for espresso, 4oz max for coffee. If using dark roast keep the temp on low or Med. Hot water will make dark roast harsh.
People in this sub just group think and most people haven't tried more machines than the one they own. For instance, a lot of people trash the Bosch 800 but I know for a fact it makes espresso as good as a zura z10 as I've tried them both side by side and in fact a few of us thought the Bosch was better and is about $4k cheaper if you get it on sale. I've also tried the top end kitchenaid but not side by side and remembered thinking it's not any better. Point being, I'm not surprised on your analysis here.
Williams Sonoma is very pushy with Jura when it comes to coffee machine sales. In our local store, they have every Jura model on display at the register and all available for demo. All the other brand coffee machines are tucked away in a corner on shelves and you can’t demo any of them. With that being said, we ended up with a Jura just based on how much people recommend the machines and how long they are known to last for (assuming you do the scheduled cleaning and servicing). Started with a E8 (never opened) and returned for a Z10. Both machines are an expensive investment. We just felt that there were features on the Z10 we would regret down the line for not spending the extra $1,500. So far we really love the brand and the machine so we are happy with our choice.
Respectfully, it sounds like you’d be better off with a Nespresso. Your complaints are super subjective, which is fine, but Z10 is a hell of a machine and I should know because I’ve owned quite a few machines from this brand. With that being said, there’s no such thing as a perfect machine..
We’ve had good luck with the Jura Z10… no issues so far (knock on wood)
About two years… so keeping fingers crossed 🤞
Ah well if you had two back-to-back then it’s definitely Amazon being Amazon. My espresso machine is a Jura, model Z10.
I had a entry level DeLonghi for like 10 years and it served me well, and I was fully intending on getting another similar one. Then I got a great deal on a Miele ($500 off so low one thousand-ish), then I got a greater deal on my Jura Z10 (ended up paying $2200 after everything). I got to use the Miele and Jura side by side for a few days and decided that Z10 is worth the premium for the milk frothing, which is on a totally different level from the Miele. Miele did make pretty good espresso though. I drink 3-4 shots just about every days, so even with the higher price tag my cost per use is pretty damn low.
Always JURA. If you can up the budget and splurge, a refurb Z10 is closer to $2500-$3k IIRC, that will give you everything you want and more.
Short answer: Quality. Long answer: You need to try it out yourself. I went to my local Williams Sonoma and tried out the Philips Lattego, Delonghi Dinamica plus and Jura Z10. And also the Breville impress touch semiauto. I was pretty sure I would get the Delonghi. But after we tried the Jura, it really was no match. The Breville Semiauto and Jura Z10 were the same quality, others just tasted vastly inferior. So I’d recommend calling a local williams Sonoma, asking if they do demos and if they have the 3-4 machines you’re interested in trying and try them out.
The magnifica plus was launched in Summer 2024 according to google, I got my Jura in 2023 IIRC. It’s rude of you to say that just because you experimented a little more, that your test is more real and less fanboyish than any other. We produced a Cortado in all 3 machines, default settings and that was good enough to judge for us. Also, the permanent countertop milk fridge addon is very nice to have. That’s why I recommend OP try it out themself. That will help OP understand how they like it best, even if it’s “stale beans and a limited department store interaction”. And forming their own opinion, versus just blindly trusting your “test”. At that point, it’s better to trust YT reviewers and at the time I got my superauto , the Z10 far outperformed all the other models on the market.
It feels like the E8 is better than the budget Juras and not as good as the high end Juras. Try the Z10, it should solve a lot of the problems. It can be found on sale and even cheaper refurbished.
I just bought a Jura Z10, love it by the way, but it requires daily and weekly and regular maintenance. I previously owned a Phillips Latte Go. Easier to use and you can probably more easily spell out directions for use, and only clean it every week (if you trust guests to empty the grounds regularly.
