Both my Philips and KitchenAid had explicit instructions in their manuals on what can only be described as a break in period. What would you like to call making and dumping 10 shots, followed by not adjusting the grinder for X period of time?
I think you’d be very happy with a KF7. Excellent coffee, easy maintenance, and the additional milk capability will be nice for when you have guests over and want to serve drinks to guests. Also, I find the UI to be much better on the KF7/8 vs the KF6. The KF6 is still a great machine though.
Don't overlook Kitchen Aid KF 6, 7 or 8 that are made in the same Swiss factory as Miele and Jura. Great results for what you are looking for. Consider this post as paying it forward!
KitchenAid will make better milk then the jura e series. The espresso is comparable to jura. One isnt better than the other. Ka $800-1200
a lungo is a long espresso. Just program a espresso for something longer. The KA will offer a better grind and largest dose of all those machines. Not sure why you'd want to stop a americano half way. You can program the water amount to be less if that is what you are looking for. I like stronger americanos, as close to 1:1 as possible
The KitchenAid machines on the insider pass deals is a no braner. These machines don't appreciate with time. I wrote a long review on them a year ago. It's 98% adjustable compared to jura being 100%. I think they killed it and 1200 or less a no brainer.
You do if you want a larger size cup or more flavor. It shows more if you are a black coffee drinker than milk drinker. Larger dose give you the option for a stronger drink. The grind matters too. The different machines offer different grind quality. A poor ground doesn't extract the coffee as well giving you weaker coffee. For example the Delonghi is a 12g without the 2x but the poor grind really makes it a 10g. Philips limits their grinders at the factory while the saeco and gaggia are ok but still 11g dose. In other words you can brew a larger drink in 1 grind with a machine that had a decent grinder and larger dose. It's the different between getting a decent 2.2oz lungo from a saeco or using the same ratios with a jura that can yield a decent 3.5-4oz lungo from a 16g jura. Lungo are essentially coffee . By decent I mean good extraction with balanced flavor, not something lacking or muddy. The swiss machines have a 15 or 16g dose with the best grinders for a super auto that I've tried. I'll say this till something changes but you can not beat the KitchenAid machines at $800-$1200. Cold extraction is a gimmick to get you to pay more for half the flavor and twice the brew time. As a giga 10 owner I can not imagine spending $4k for a z10 or more than $1k for a Delonghi EE. if you want a jura you can get them for 30% off after cash back from time to time. Search the sub for detailed. I'm only on here to cut through the perceived value and high profit margins in these machines.
The KF6 and Evo are very similar in espresso quality. The KF6 doses higher but the Evo has a better grinder, no pressurized crema fluffer, and can actually be dialed in to the SCA standard extraction time of 20-30. It's a difficult choice for sure. just don't get the Phillips and you'll be fine.
I love my KF6 for espresso drinks but have not dialed in the right recipe of beans and grind on black coffee? Any recommendations?
Got the base model Kitchen Aid (KF-6) and have never been happier. I had been using a Jura A1 for about 5 years before it died on me, and repair was going to be prohibitively expensive. I think the Jura coffee was moderatly better (I would flavor/texture is an 8/10 on my kitchen aid vs. 9/10 on my old Jura). That said, everything about the kitchenaid otherwise is far superior. Build quality is top notch. Removable bean hopper is great. Programmable preferences for drinks is very convenient, as is being able to do a double shot without having to press the buttons twice! Strangely the thing I appreciate most is the cleaning - you can actually very easily pull the brew unit out of the KA machines to rinse and dry off. I cant imagine how gross this part was on my old Jura, but wont have to worry about that now.

The kitchenaid kf6 would be somewhere around that price with the insider discount (assuming there are current discounts similar to the ones there were last year). I saw it for 921 at creative coffee. They dont have all the bells and whistles of something like an eletta explore but they have a 15g dose and are generally well built in Switzerland.
You could go with something like the kitchenaid kf6. The original insider price was 799 i dont know the prices now. Those do have some milk functions but make the same espresso more or less as the some of the high end miele machines (they are made by the same 3rd party company as miele and jura).
Kf6 does not have the double drink option. I have a kf8, but the 7 can also do double drinks. For black coffee that’s max 14.8 oz and yes, it’s great. From what you said you don’t care about lungos anyway but kf7 also has that option. They are 999+tax (w/ whirlpool inside)
You wont find a better superauto for the money. If you dont care about bells and whistles but just want good espresso and milk drinks the kf6 is hard to beat given its like 700+tax with an pass.
From the US the Kitchenaid KF6 made sense compared to the other Swiss made brew groups.
We opted for the KF6. Neither uses milk. We have 3 custom settings that cover us. No regrets.
No milky drinks for us. It certainly can do milky drinks, but does not come with its own milk container. We don't miss not having that.
If you can afford it and value espresso drinks, a super automatic espresso machine is absolutely amazing. KitchenAid kf6/kf7/kf8 which is more the high range or a DeLonghi r/superautomatic
