La Cimbali - M28 Selectron (4-Group Volumetric)

Okay so if you’re looking at what can rip shots the fastest regardless of quality the answer is literally any button-based volumetric espresso machine. Seeing as quality isn’t a factor here we’ll say a Cimbali M28 so that we can save some money. We want nothing but speed so counterspace isn’t an issue so we’ll make it a 4 group machine. Combine that with a slapper jolly grinder and you can dose and tamp in under 5 seconds. Set your grind a little too coarse so that you can extract your espresso in 20 seconds. Prep two portafilters, start two doubles, by the time those are done you’ve got 30 seconds down While the first two doubles are pouring, prep your other two portafilters and start extracting them. Once the first set is done, take the spent portafilters out, clean it and prep another pair of doubles, which should take about 10 seconds so you can do it while those other shots are pouring. That way you’ve got two sets of doubles coming off the machine every 20 seconds after the first 30. The folks who got triple shots get their drinks in 50 seconds as does the first person with a double. Guests 2 and 3 with doubles get their drinks at 1:10 4 and 5 with doubles at 1:30 6 and 7 with doubles at 1:50 And the last person gets theirs at 2:10. Less time than it takes to listen to “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter. The drinks will taste bad, but again, all that was specified was speed.

We bought an espresso machine and a grinder for our office. La Cimbali. About 40 espressos a day. We put short videos on youtube about how to prepare espresso and lattes: quantities and durations. It is working pretty well. No big mess. We should add a short video about cleaning as well 😉. The surprise was the descaling, it is expensive. But I guess with an automatic you have that as well.
