If you don’t think LMs are very reliable, you’re completely out of your mind. I have one built in 2007 that still pulls a couple thousand shots a day. And that’s just one of our machines.
I appreciate the math. I will also say we have one machine that produces over a million dollars a year in revenue alone, and I find some of the insinuation in this thread that LMs are unreliable to be completely insane.
Come on down to one of my shops, we are doing tremendous numbers on a 2007 GB5 on a daily basis. It’s the best purchase I’ve ever made in my life.
Yeah, I worked in a place that had a commercial La Marzocco and the amount of absolute slop that came out of that machine was awful to watch. Very few cleaned up after use etc and the grinder was never dialed in. Shame really but just not fit for general office life
Agree with this. You still need a good grinder and learn good puck prep but you WILL get consistent shots with the LM.
Everyone is telling you to get a bean to cup machine, but I think it depends a lot on your company and who works there. I work at a big tech company, and we have plenty of manual Simonellis and LMs which seem very popular. I think there are instructions available for people to learn how to use them. That said, we also have bean-to-cup machines for people who don’t want to learn to manually pull shots.
I try to buy myself gifts to celebrate milestones so that they mean something extra to me. Got my first espresso machine (Lelit Mara X) when I graduated college. Got my LM when I bought my first house. 100% worth it.
I started with a Barista Pro and leveled up to a La Marzocco.
