We have a Pop and I am looking for an OL myself, I liked the espresso that we got from the OL capsules in the Yammi machine we bought when we couldn't get Vertuo pods anywhere (I bought the Pop not having done any research). Anyhow, I don't see any OL machines that have connectivity features, and the Citiz only looks like it has a slightly larger reservoir and a longer auto shut off duration, so probably intended for multiple users in the morning a bit more than the Pixie? If your budget is 400 and you like milk drinks and use cow's milk, I would go for the DeLonghi Gran Lattissima Fresh Vitality. That model has an easy rinse cleaning system, whereas the lesser models require the user to break down the machine. Unfortunately, they don't have a link to that model's manual on the Nespresso or DeLonghi site, but based on the feature blurb and the Latissima One manual cleaning instructions and warning about using cow's milk only (which rules it out for us, but we have a good frother already), I am confident in my assessment. You would need to contact Nespresso or Delonghi to confirm the milk restrictions on the Gran model. The Vertuo Lattissima Matte Black & Glossy DeLonghi does indicate that it supports plant-based milk, and has a rinse feature. The manual can be found on the DeLonghi site if you choose English (US) from the dropdown. It also has the standard Wifi connectivity. For the other Vertuo machines that don't have milk, the Up seems to be recommended, but I don't see a real compelling reason to upgrade from the Pop. The extra button just eliminates the next for a double click on the Pop for the same result. Hope that helps

Given the constraints, Nespresso Vertuo Latissima is probably a good option. It’s got the espresso and milk frother in a single unit and it’s going to be easy to use. For milk based drinks, the coffee can be pretty average and the drink can still be enjoyable. You will probably find that the espresso it produces is a little watery compared to what you’d get at a good cafe. I use an espresso machine (Breville Bambino Plus) and it’s a bit more work. Weigh the coffee, tamp the grounds, pull the shot, steam the milk with the milk wand. Takes about 10 minutes to get everything sorted and then you get to clean the portafilter and machine.
Went to a Hotel with a Nespresso Pixie and when i returned i ordered my Vertuo right away
I just gave away my vertuo id highly suggest an original Nespresso way more variety and quality on the pods. However all of the have pros and cons . Pros Convince to quality ratio much higher than k cups Auto refill makes getting coffee and making coffee a brainless almost no effort process Cons All the coffee is pretty low quality (vertuo) Super expensive cost per cup Very limited in person options (vertuo) The fact 2 of the cons only pertain to vertuo lead me to recommend the original pod machines imo it’s a better cup but less “crema” As for reusable pods I thought they were ok but at that point I might as well pull a shot and make an iced americano on my espresso machine
OP this is an important question you need to answer. i tried to get almost same exact setup for my wife, but in the end she didn’t want the hassle, just wanted to push the button. i ended up returning everything and got the espresso vertuo and she loves it
I like Nespresso (vertuo) but I think it’s expensive for my daily habit. So I use drip coffee to start the day and have a Nespresso a few times a week. I’d use it more if the pods weren’t so much. I was never buying coffee at cafes much, so it’s not saving me money. It’s great though, and I hope you love it!
This 🤣 ☝for real!!! I have Nespresso OG and Vertuo, espresso, percolator, French Press, Mokapot, Keurig, and pour over. * Nespresso is the easiest and taste wise, not far from Espresso. and the best among non espresso machines. Espresso machines are very difficult to "dial in". More expensive the better. Price matters.
Taste wise: * If you are really good... Home set up > Cafe > McCafe > Starbucks * If the Cafe is really good... Cafe > home set up > McCafe > Starbucks Nespresso pods may be somewhere better than McCafe. Semiautomatic really depends but my experiences at shops and restaurants were really bad. Worse than Starbucks. $200 will get you Nespresso Vertuo machine to get started for mom. Check their sub. Avoid the Pop. Has high failure rates. Get N Deluxe if you can.
Have all Nespressos OG and Vertuo for my wifu. Go with Nespresso unless she knows this art. It's time consuming, and will hit a wall with frustration. It takes months or years to learn. If you have a barista or someone (like yourself?) who knows the art to help on the side it will be easy. On "busy" mornings, my wife takes her own Nespresso latte. And I use my machine in the mid morning. I occasionally make her early morning shots too when I'm not busy.
Have you read the FAQ first? They have some solid recommendations. It does take some learning curve, and if you are willing then go ahead and dive in. For money wise, there's more to it than just the espresso machine and grinder. You start adding bottomless (basket and) portafilter, WDT needle tool, steam milk pitcher, rubber pad, tamper etc the price adds up more. I happen to have most entry level machines at home or in the office to compare (Nespresso OG and Vertuo, drip, Mokapot, etc) and espresso machine definitely produces the best out of all. (for milk based drinks) imho. ymmv. But if you are a straight espresso shot type, you'll have to invest more in the machine and light roast quality beans. Milk based drinks are fine with entry level machines and beans. Imho. Have fun!
Buyer beware. I bought my vertuo less than a month ago and it’s malfunctioned three times. I regret my purchase
