Besides a long return history due to cosmetic damage on the machine (Ninja has been very accommodating and very kind and helpful though!), I’m very happy with our machine. We have had it since October, and I absolutely will never have a regular coffee filter machine again 😂 I honestly think it’s a great machine for beginners. I like the fact that the cleaning and upkeeping is so easy. I like that it’s semi automatic, and that each “department” is seperated so neatly (grinder+tampet, water, milk). I love how I can put so many of the parts in the dishwasher. I think it makes great coffee! The only thing that I’m a bit bummed about is that I can’t buy replacement parts from their webside in my country. The nearest is Germany but they don’t ship to denmark. It means it’s hard to get stuff like original waterfilters for the machine, unless I buy from Amazon.
Dude, i would recommend the Ninja Luxe Cafe Pro. All in one. Gets the job done. Easy for quick mornings. When the kids are more grown, you can go back to the espresso chemistry lab.
That happened to me. I thought the Ninja would make my life easier, and it did, but at a huge cost. It was a big investment, although luckily I was able to return it to Amazon within the return window. To avoid feeling the pinch, I opted for Amazon credit and used it to buy my DF54 grinder and the Breville Bambino. I used over 1 kg of coffee (not cheap at all) trying to make something decent with the Ninja... If you like coffee, it's not for you. You might say you don't drink espresso every day, but it's the base of the drink, and you won't even make a decent Americano. Maybe it was just my machine that was faulty, but it wasn't worth putting up with the dissatisfaction for the price I paid.
RETURN IT! I used it for two weeks before deciding to return it to Amazon. I could never make a decent coffee despite trying every possible setting. It's definitely a pressure problem. The espresso I got was sour, acidic, undrinkable, and there was no way to fix it. It's better to start with a good grinder and the Bambino.
As someone who has this machine (the 701) and OCCASIONALLY uses it for drip coffee it's "fine". You have two type of coffee to select from "Classic" vs "Rich" and quantify ranging from 6 to 14 (maybe 16)oz. However my "problem" (if you could even call it that), is that I had (and have) a Keurig machine that's currently sitting right next to it. So (80% of the time), when I want "just coffee", waking up in the morning for example, I use the Keurig. The drip coffee the Ninja produces is maybe "strictly speaking" better, but also takes a considerably longer time to brew. I also tend to put some sort of cream and sugar into my coffee which tends to negate whatever difference there was anyway. I kind of went off on a tangent that probably isn't relevant to you (in fact your post says that you want to save counter space), so TLDR, in my limited experience, it's good it just takes a while to brew.
I bought the ninja luxe pro. I honestly love it and thinks it's a great investment. My wife and I basically use it everyday. I got it for her as a birthday gift because of how much she loves her lattes. I only started using it cause I actually can taste the coffee notes now more than my typical brewing method (basically camper coffee). I am not a coffee drinker with a refined palette, but I can say, the drinks we make are as good or close to the ones at a few out local coffee shops. Most of the time it's good enough or will fix that itch. I estimated that if we were to use it every day, twice a day, for two months, it would have already paid itself back. Setup and assembly was pretty easy and straightforward. I need to look into maintenance though. I plan to do it every month or every other month.
It’s a great machine
I own the Pro version of this machine and love it. The snobs here will downvote away, but it’s a great coffee machine
One of the keys to great Espresso is puck prep. The integrated tamper on the Pro hinders that. Unless you want hot water on tap I'd recommend the 601 Premiere or better still if you use Costco their 655 Signature, in think it's called. That way you can do your puck prep and increase consistency, which I never got from the 701 Pro.
Day 44 about 60-70 shots in with the pro. I admit I’ve added a puck screen and using a scale (just recently). If you want expresso you got it. At the least you need a glass that will give you measurements to help dial in your shot. For the money. I don’t see how you can beat it, simple work flow, very good frother (by most reports from expresso machine snobs) and hot water. Now that I’m into the process I could probably use a slightly more expensive machine, but it may not even match features. I do love this thing. I was buying quad shot lattes 7 days a week! This thing will be paid for pretty quick.
