One of the keys to great Espresso is puck prep. The integrated tamper on the Pro hinders that. Unless you want hot water on tap I'd recommend the 601 Premiere or better still if you use Costco their 655 Signature, in think it's called. That way you can do your puck prep and increase consistency, which I never got from the 701 Pro.

r/espressoEspresso Started Tasting Terrible After a Week of Daily Use [Ninja Luxe 3 in 1]

I bought a refurbished Ninja Luxe 3 in 1 not long ago that I have decided to return. The first few espressos it was making were delicious and I could smell the aromas coming from the coffee. Now my puck gets soaked, the espresso started running way too watery out of the blue, and the espresso just generally taste awful now. I tried adjusting the grind size to make it coarser, Google said that would solve the water problem. Now the coffee is more concentrated and more bitter than ever before. After making espresso in the morning today I got a "burnt" smell and decided not to drink it. It's almost like I could smell that it was going to taste bad. I also notice now that the espresso doesn't flow "smooth". It drips in uneven streams as sometimes the drip stops and causes the espresso to splash on my countertop. This was not happening when I first got the machine. I'm not sure if a part broke or something, but I would like to understand the science of how this thing was working fine and now it isn't. If someone could please explain what is at bay here, it would be of tremendous help.

The Ninja Luxe Cafe has a great feature set but not quite as reliable as the Delonghi & harder to repair due to all the features. The \*major\* difference is that the Magnifica is a super-auto, i.e. it grinds beans and brews the espresso with 1 button press with everything happening automatically inside the machine. The Ninja is conversely a semi-auto, i.e. YOU have to grind the coffee into a portafilter, tamp it, then YOU put the portafilter into the brewgroup and push another button to brew the coffee. This means you're doing more, takes a bit longer and is more effort but can produce slightly better results since you have finer control over each step. The Ninja works exactly the same as having a stand-alone coffee grinder & manual espresso machine. If you want a super-auto get the Magnifica, If you want a semi-auto either get the Ninja OR consider a stand alone grinder & machine. And if you like the Ninja style then maybe check out the Breville/Sage range of machines (e.g. Barista Express) which are pretty similar, also well regarded although not very reliable, less features than the Ninja & they have a reputation for rusting internally!

For what's out there in their price range, I totally agree, they are hard to best for the price. They last longer than a lot of other mainstream brands that cost the same or more. And congrats on the Luxe, glad to hear it ticks all the boxes for what you want! Its definitely made for people like yourself, who want to get into espresso and want an all in one capable of doing many different coffee things aside from espresso. The fact it doesn't take up a ton of counter space is nice for those who dont have the room for all separate devices is nice. I have a friend who wants one someday, he roasts his own coffee, has just been a pour over person mainly. This unit with its grinder, scale, guidance to getting a good shot as well as making iced coffee and drip style cup is great! It does a lot of the things that people that have gone down the wormhole of espresso do. Hope it lasts a long time for you and if you go down the wormhole some day and want to do what so many on this sub do, we will be here to help guide! As long as you're happy, what more is there to worry about!? Other then fresh beans and quality water for your setup🤣

r/JamesHoffmannBest espresso machine for home use under moderate budget?

I’ll get downvoted to hell for this and I suppose it’s not the “best,” but the Ninja Luxe Cafe is surprisingly decent at quick and easy espresso. It’s like 80% as good as things that cost a lot more as long as you go in with good beans. Bad at its other types of coffee though so I never use it for that.

As a Nespresso owner that is now gathering dust. I get the ease of Nespresso, I now own a ninja cafe luxe which may get down voted in this sub but it is a much easier machine to manage than a traditional espresso machine and makes a way better cup than the Nespresso. But if she wants a Nespresso I have one for sale! lol

r/nespressoNespresso lovers that made the switch to a real espresso machine. Which one did you get? How much did it cost? Any regrets?

Ninja luxe after 11 years of both vertuo and original machines. Easy transition and very happy with the quality of the coffee.

I’m a dad of two little boys. I know it’s not a popular machine in this sub but I can make a latte with the Ninja Luxe in like 5 minutes.
