I bought the Philips 2200 the first week it tasted weak and watery then it became way better but it doesn’t compare to cafe’s espresso
Got the 2200 as im more focused on straight coffees but it's been ok. The milk frother isn't great compared to the one I have on a Nespresso machine so I use both to make milk drinks.
I have the 2200 (with a steam wand vs the milk container) and its been going on strong for 2 years now with no concerns. My husband and I make only milk drinks, and I would say it Philips machines are a great choice for those who make milk based drinks exclusively as they're usually slightly less than the other recommend brands. I've never had an issue with puck formation.
Went from a Philips 2231 to a De'Longhi Magnifica Plus. Super happy with the upgrade. I wouldn't recommend a Philips tbh, maintenance is a pain as coffee grounds get everywhere in the brew group. The coffee from the Magnifica is leagues better as well.
Have had mine just about a month now, absolutely love it. Came from an old Philips Series 2200.
Until a few weeks ago I also had the 2200 and the same problem. Regardless what I did with grinding and water level. Just bought the very basic de’Longhi and the coffee is fantastic. So not sure if you’re doing anything wrong but OK, here you go.
I never got good shots from my Philips The day it broke and I bought a different brand was a good day
I tried the Rivelia, the Philips and a jura. The Philips is just plain loud and a bit of a mess. It's not very user friendly when it's time to clean. Grounds get everywhere inside and you end up having to clean the brew group more often than not. It's an old system brought over when it was Saeco/Gaggia. The coffee was OK, a little enemic. The Delonghi was nicer and offered more adjustability to the drinks. It gives you the option for larger pucks up to like 15 grams. The long blacks just tasted better and seemed a bit hotter. Although it kinda just tasted like an americano. I eventually ended up returning it and got the Jura. It was relatively quiet. I know that's a subjective thing but in the morning I need it peaceful, lol. The jura just made a better cup of coffee and when I'm in the mood, which seems more often. I like the adjustability of programming my exact ristretto, flat white or capp. The adjustable water temps for coffee and milk is a game changer. The only caveat, which is well known. Is the price. You will pay through the nose for one. Four months in, coffee every morning, I have no regrets.
