I had a manual espresso machine but got rid of it because I couldn't be arsed spending 5 minutes making a coffee! If you want to press a few buttons and get a decent coffee I got this one for $650 last year. Froth is a bit thick but the espresso is great. https://www.philips.com.au/c-p/EP4346_70/philips-4300-series-fully-automatic-espresso-machines

Hello! I have the Phillips 4300, and I have enjoyed the machine quite a bit. However, you need to understand a couple of things. Superautomatics are no where near close to replacing semi automatics in terms of espresso quality and milk drinks quality. The real unique selling proposition of superautomatics is the ease of use; you press a button, and you have coffee. As far as this Phillips goes, the maintenance is quite straightforward and documented online. The quality of drinks is good but certainly not great. The milk foam has a nice texture, but it is not true microfoam, and the espresso is not as good as that coming from an actual espresso machine. If you are ok with these compromises, I would be quite satisfied with the phillips; however, some people will recommend a DeLonghi or even a Jura. I do not own either of those brands, so I can not speak in a comparative nature regarding these machines all I can say is that I was satisified with the quality of drinks and convenience of my machine. Hope this helps!

r/superautomaticWill I regret buying a Lattego 5500

I've had the 4300 for close to a year, and I can only recommend it. It's fun to use and maintain, and I have zero complaints about the coffee. Also the customer support in my country (Portugal) is great: I asked where I could buy the maintenance supplies and they sent me a welcome kit with filters, degreasing and descaling tablets as well as half a kilo of gourmet coffee beans

r/superautomaticIf I'm mainly going to be drinking coffee with milk and sugar, is it really worth buying a more expensive machine?

With my 4300, Lavazza super crema on fine grind have been excellent. We are coffee drinkers and friends like the Lattes. Over 16k shots in this machine. For maintenance, I put the grease in a syringe with long tip and it's much easier to lube.

I use a stiff coffee brush for the grinds inside once the brewhouse is out, and once a month I set it over the sink and spray it out. Best thing I did was disassemble the brewhouse, replaced the percolator screen (it was 90% clogged) and cleaned all the tracks. The gunk was really built up, and hindering the movement i think. Since then I dont get any popping noise when the brewhouse goes back to position to compress the shot and almost zero grinds in the back of the unit. Really has been a great machine, 3 years old and over 16,000 cycles on the brewhouse.

Forgive my 1-handed toilet typing. I really love my Philips 4300 lattego. The lattego carafe is by far the easiest milk frother to clean. I got it for $550 USD refurbished with a 90 day guarantee by Amazon prime/Seattle coffee gear. I also purchased a gaggia cadorna prestige, and a Philips 5400 to test side by side. Ultimately, the 4300 made the best shots and was the easiest to maintain:) I just took it to a house party and everyone loved their drinks. I even dialed in some decaf with my Rancilio rocky and used the bypass. Still going strong and cleaning is a breeze.

r/superautomaticWhat are some popular or highly rated espresso machines? [$1,000 to $2,000]

Delonghi rivellia is 1299 right now at most places who distribute delonghi (~25% off.) I have had my eye on the magnifica plus (1199) which apparently is slightly better at packing more espresso into the puck. I think I'm going to go with the rivellia for the dual bean hopper so I can get some variety of beans while the wife gets her preferred beans. I currently have a Philips 4300 - I do not recommend the brand, it throws out beans all the time, and I have to take it apart every 4 months to fix it. That's the "low end " of your price range, but seems like they are pretty highly recommended.

We've had a Philips 4300 for four of five years. My wife likes her lattes and the carafe is pretty handy. We had a manual Breville before but the solenoid went out and I haven't bought the parts and fixed it. We enjoy it. The cappuccinos, expressos, and lattes are really easy and low effort. First thing I do is make one when I get up in the morning. It's to the point that we take it with us when we go to the ranch for the weekend.

Yeah they do but the magnifica evo doesn't allow you to clean much on the inside of the machine. I've had the philips 4300 lattego and the evo and the evo made slightly better espresso but the philips is basically completely serviceable on the inside. The evo let's you take out the brew group and that's it, everything else is out of reach and super autos are known to mold easily since they're so humid on the inside. It's just a bad design, even if you follow all of their maintenance steps. Would not recommend the delonghi machines that share the same internals which is quite a few of them if I recall correctly.

ppl gonna hate on my post but I love my Phillips superautomatic machine. I have the Costco cheapo model and it serves me well. Imo, better coffee than my Brera and other sub 1000 models i have owned. But all i drink is straight up expresso and don't really bother with the milk stuff. Phillips machines are below your budget level.

Mine does have the steam wand but i never use it... Some fancier Phillips models do have better milk features and are still within your budget. I just don't like all the mess. When i do milk, i will nuke it and just use a simple milk frother (see Bonsenkitchen Powerful Milk Frother on amazon)...easier cleanup. I am not a Phillips ambassador. Just happy with the quality and value.

r/AskUKCoffee lovers - what is the best simple bean to cup coffee machine?

As others have said, Bean to Cup machine pretty much always come with a milk frother of somesort too, as it doesn't cost that much to add but makes the machines significantly more appealing. I have a Phillips which I've found is very good, although only had it 6 months so can't comment on longevity. Its got lots of settings for grind fineness and some for how long the shots are etc, and does Americano with a decent sized water tank too. It has a separate latte part where you store the milk which is detachable so if you never make milk based drinks you can just leave it off tbh.
