Have a look at the Philips Baristina. To me, it's the perfect place to start once you're over pods. It's simple, it's integrated, and while it's not cheap, it's not crazy expensive either (\~$400 USD). I believe Williams-Sonoma has an exclusive deal with Philips to distribute because Sur le Table doesn't carry it yet. I was very close to settling on the Breville Bambino, but it's not automatic and I love the idea of putting everything it takes to pull a good shot into one relatively compact appliance. There's a great series of reviews from a real user on YT and here's a representative sample that should help you understand what owning a Baristina might be like and if it's the machine for you: [https://youtu.be/uStY8ruvrtg?feature=shared](https://youtu.be/uStY8ruvrtg?feature=shared)
Go to your nearest william sonoma and ask to see the phillips, baristina. It is like an espresso machine without the pods. It is a very cool machine. It has a bean hopper and grind your beans.Tamps, it and makes you an espresso. There is a wonderful frother that you can buy separately or bundled, and you can control the froth level steam hot or cold.
the philips baristina is $50 over budget on sale. dont need a grinder cause it has one built in. is automatic. performs pretty well imo
Hi! You may be interested in the Philips Baristina? It’s Dutch as well, though keep an eye on recent reliability performance as it didn’t do well after launch. I’ve really liked the coffee coming from it.

I did. Went with Philips Baristina, with separate milk frother. It's not what you'd call state of the art, but just perfect for my needs, very simple, no rinsing, pre-rinsing, start-up process, etc. Not a lot of user input, which suits me after Juras, Spinn, etc. Very decent espresso for my taste, and I'm willing to be flexible for less fiddling. Also very small footprint with nice aesthetic, which was important to me. What are you looking at so far?
After a couple of Juras and a Spinn, all fully automatic, I was also looking to just simplify, especially since I mainly make a double espresso with foamed milk. After a lot of research I settled on the Philips Barastina and am very happy with it. It makes espresso or lungo with an option to make either one extra strong, and that's it. No other settings or options. Plus it has a small footprint, important to me. About $400, milk frother (also nice) additional $90. Check it out and see what you think. It's exactly what I was looking for.
Friends have a Philips barista machine. It's basically an automated piston machine where all you have to do is add beans to the reservoir and a quick clean of the portafilter after each cup. It's like a full automatic without the horrible maintenance. Coffee is also pretty ok.
ppl gonna hate on my post but I love my Phillips superautomatic machine. I have the Costco cheapo model and it serves me well. Imo, better coffee than my Brera and other sub 1000 models i have owned. But all i drink is straight up expresso and don't really bother with the milk stuff. Phillips machines are below your budget level.
Mine does have the steam wand but i never use it... Some fancier Phillips models do have better milk features and are still within your budget. I just don't like all the mess. When i do milk, i will nuke it and just use a simple milk frother (see Bonsenkitchen Powerful Milk Frother on amazon)...easier cleanup. I am not a Phillips ambassador. Just happy with the quality and value.
As others have said, Bean to Cup machine pretty much always come with a milk frother of somesort too, as it doesn't cost that much to add but makes the machines significantly more appealing. I have a Phillips which I've found is very good, although only had it 6 months so can't comment on longevity. Its got lots of settings for grind fineness and some for how long the shots are etc, and does Americano with a decent sized water tank too. It has a separate latte part where you store the milk which is detachable so if you never make milk based drinks you can just leave it off tbh.
