I have one as well, its the best machine. Paddle feels amazing and very responsive in flow rate, u can save profiles. Warm up times is very fast. I cant think of any other machine that has the same functionality, style and reliability , the only thing that can compare is a strada x. Which they are very identical in features but 3 times the price

OK, if I'm being fully honest, I had this exact machine and I upgraded and I have not regretted it since. If you're only using it for espresso, it's not worth the upgrade, but if you're wanting to use it for steam wand and consistency within shots, it's worth the upgrade. I had to Lelit anna 2 and then I upgraded to a Sanremo You in October 2024. if you have the extra money and you'll use it every day i say do it!!! if not, you could always upgrade to the Bianca that's a great machine but again the steam wand is gonna be the exact same as the Anna.

So I was in your situation and this is what I recommend. Machine: Machine Slayer single group. Hands down. Haven't pulled a bad shot yet, looks amazing in stock form. I considered LMLM but it doesn't look as good as the slayer on the sides. If you're stuffing it in a corner with the grinder hiding it, cool. Sanremo You has just as many features as the Slayer, a couple more actually, but you have to decide between the style of your kitchen or coffee area. That is the only reason I did not buy this machine. Water: Do not buy any of these machines without a proper water setup. Needs depend on region and kitchen design so I won't recommend a specific setup. However, you'll need reverse osmosis with remineralization or you'll be rebuilding your machine sooner than later. Budget about 2.5k USD. Also, keep in mind that if you are only hooking up to your machine for two coffees a day and not using it for day-to-day water use you may have sediment issues from highly infrequent use. Consider adding a water spigot and enjoy the benefits of filtered water in your home to push the volume needed to have the system operate within spec. Grinder: Two key considerations ease and convenience of grind by weight (GBW) vs single dosing. Downside of GBW is when I have the occasional guest request decaf, I either have had to have pre-ground an entire bag and packaged and frozen each dose in between grinding. There's about 2 to 3 doses worth of beans in the chute of my grinder. That being said, if you have a favorite roast it's no problem. Single dose doesn't have this downside, but it's more tinkering and more time. GBW: -Mahlkönig E80s -Fiorenzato all ground sense Single Dose -Kafatek monolith flat max if you're espresso only -Titus nautilus if you're pour over or drip Kafatek has specialized burrs that edged out the Titus for me. I'm espresso only. Nautilus has amazing customization options that go with Slayer, so check their Instagram. Remote power brick is manageable with Bluetooth controller since you'll have a plumbed in machine, but that's the big miss on this high end machine. -Weber eg-1 gets honorable mention but I don't think the build tolerance and quality matches either other option. Best of luck, let us know what you pick.

Grinder is a hard ask, perfect grinder technically would be a Sanremo X-One, but it is huge and financially only good sense for a shop (it replaces 3 grinders so at about 8000€ not too bad), coupled with a Sanremo espresso machine and a RO with remineralizing filter for water. Told my misses about this one and she was a little concerned I was contemplating it. Keeping home aesthetics and size in mind and if I would only want one grinder I’d probably get an EG-1 or Monolith flat Max. Currently have two grinders though, one with hopper (83mm burr) and one single dose for my decaf/specialty drinks. Which I would be unlikely to drop as single dosing I won’t do for groups or in the morning, a large burr gbw grinder would be my choice. For the espresso machine, a Sanremo you or LM GS3 would offer everything I would want, but honestly a simple flat profile machine with good pid and dual boiler like a LM Mini R or a Micra is good enough for me already. Micra does come with some short comings, the reduced height is a little annoying at times. Mini r was too big for my counter though.

Went from a LaSpaziale VII to the Sanremo You. Over 20 years with the VII which is a wonderful but extremely basic machine. The You has been awesome other than I needed to replace the control panel(which they sent for free). Since the panel change it's been perfect. I use the paddle 100% of the time as I roast my own coffee and have something completely new every week. With the paddle I can adjust on the fly with the first shot and then adjust my grinder based on what happens. The only thing I would change about it is the drip tray is too small! If my wife would let me drill a hole in our new counter tops, I would plumb the drain line in.

If you can test out the Sanremo You, you might find it does exactly what you want. You can set it to 12 bar and use the paddle to adjust pressure during the shot which leads to an incredible amount of variables you have to play with. I am very happy with mine and find it really easy to dial in with the paddle every time I change coffee which is once a week as I roast my own and like lots of variety!

r/espressoReasons NOT to get the La Marzocco Micra? Other machines to consider? [$5000+ CAD]

I’d actually recommend against the Nurri, at least in the US. Clive used to carry it but stopped due to how many issues it was having that needed major repair. I tried to buy one and they were extremely reluctant to sell their last one to me, noting issues with the machine and repair. I ended up with a Sanremo You instead (which is a great machine). It was a shame though since I really liked the machine and its capabilities.

r/espressoBest espresso machine to pair with my Lagom P64 for flat whites? [$5kish]

With your Lagom P64, the Linea Micra is already excellent for flat whites, reliable steam and great shots. The Sanremo You adds smart features, but it won’t necessarily make your drinks taste much better. For performance and milk drinks, the Micra is a solid choice.

R91 is heavy metal :-), but FW is totally neglected. SR YOU will receive its next update in a couple of weeks and I have been beta testing this for the past months. Total game changer. Full integration with Beanconqueror for bbw and visualizer, new menus, blooming as a programmable option (also in paddle mode).

Sanremo You, linea mini r or a synesso and a EG-1 with core burrs. Especially if you switch between different beans regularly the stepped dial of the eg-1 is fantastic and the core burrs are probably the best jack of all trades burrs that cover all roast levels. Also the mentioned machines are the best looking ones if you are into modern, clean industrial look

I just went down this path and am upgrading to the Sanremo YOU from an ECM Mechanika Slim V. I’ve had the ECM for over 6.5 years and overall have been satisfied, but it has the same quirks as the Appartamento due to the HX. I ordered last week and am hopeful to receive it sometime next week. My thought process was very similar to the rabbit hole you went down. In my case, I was also considering a machine which had temperature control over the hot water spout. I am a daily americano drinker and am not a fan of the workflow with the Mechanika Slim. The water from the steam boiler is much too hot and just ends up burning the shots. My workaround to date has been to heat up water with a separate kettle. Having a machine where I can do away with an extra appliance would be a considerable time saver. Otherwise I am also a big fan of the immense amount of control the machine offers, including that manual paddle for feedback. I eliminated the Decents from my list as neither the DE1 or the Bengle have a hot water spout. I’m also in Canada and would need to deal with customs for shipping replacements parts. I’m also not sure how familiar local techs are with these machines. I also thought the R9 one felt dated for its interface and also added the GS3 to this pile given the price to feature ratio. Unlike you, I never considered a LM Mini or Micra because I don’t find them aesthetically pleasing personally. I briefly considered the Wendougee Data, but felt the YOU offered a better product overall, albeit at a higher price. The fact that the app isn’t required to operate the machine is also a win in my books. The company’s openness and response to customer feedback also looks great, even if they appear to be pretty slow to roll out updates. Truthfully, I also wasn’t initially fond of the looks of the You and would have probably waited for the Bengle if it was the deciding factor. I ended up purchasing a white YOU with an oak accents kit and think it should look nice on my bar with my similarly configured white Z1. To wrap it up, I’m happy you are reporting with positive feedback after 1.5 years. It certainly makes me feel better about the purchase to read these types of posts. I’d love to see more of these long term reviews on YouTube, but haven’t found much if any for this machine beyond a month or so.
