I bought recently the V2 and I honestly have some buyers remorse. No issues with the machine, but, laugh as you like, it does not brew any better coffee than my old bambino did. its dual boiler, which on paper would be nice, except bambino had also 0 waiting time for steaming due to the thermojet. But now I can wait minutes for heating up, and have to backflush all the time. Yay. Ive seen soke reviews just recently from kaffeemacher, and the thermal stability is also pretty bad. Go eith the Quick Mill
I’ve got a pretty dialed-in setup at home, but for the office I use the Turin Legato V2 + DF64 Gen 2 and honestly, it gets close enough for comfort. Not the most common combo, but one I really like—capable, consistent, and underrated. If you’re exploring other setups, Gaggia Classic Pro + DF64 gives you a lot of control and upgradability. For manual, the Cafelat Robot + DF54 or Sculptor 064S is fun and super capable. And don’t overlook the used market—can sometimes snag a Silvia or Profitec GO within budget.
How about a Turin Legato V2? I have a similar machine at home and it warms up fast with no waiting time to steam too. I can wake up, switch on the machine, go take a shower and the machine will be ready to make the first cup.
Nope. Single boiler with separate thermoblock for steaming. You can’t steam and make an espresso at the same time. However you can start steaming almost immediately after extraction.
In my opinion, the turin legato v2 is the best machine you can buy for $500. Similar to the gaggia with a 58mm group head, it's packed with all the features you could want. Opv, pid for both be and steam, flow rate control, automatic pre-infusion, shot timer, and it has a separate thermoblock solely dedicated to steam. This means you can pull a shot and steam milk immediately after, then go right back to pulling a shot. With something like the gaggia, you would have to wait a couple minutes for the machine to heat up and cool back down. I did a ton of research before buying mine, and my budget was the same as yours. It's been a great machine.
Not the Philips, that's for sure. The turin legato v2 is close to your budget and the best option under $500. You can find own box deals sometimes at espresso outlet
Turin legato v2 is the best machine under $500
Legato v2 and DF64 are great choices for entry into espresso and are very capable. May need to modify burr alignment, but it’s not difficult. If you want a more trusted machine brand, look at Gaggia Classic Pro. You can eventually mod Gagguino or Gaggimate for more control/profiling.
Nothing...you can literally achieve the same results on any espresso machine that does 15 bar, which is almost all of them. You change the makeup of your shot based on grind level. Get the new Bookoo Motto80 grinder. It's as good as the current $3000 grinders but will only cost like $1000. You can't go wrong with the Motto 80. If you really care about having a shiny looking machine, there's plenty of options like the Turin Gallatin but you could have everything needed in an espresso machine with the Turin Legato v2 which gives you full control over flow, pressure and temperature. It also does pre infusion.
Turin legato v2 and you won't need anything else in the price range. Has steel boiler for shots and a block for the steam wand. Best of both worlds. It has pressure control and flow control built in with zero need to mod. It's the best you can get for this price
I just got a Turin Legato V2. Learning stage atm but it’s been fun trying to dial shots in.
Honestly, unless you love tinkering or can get the Silvia fixed cheaply, I’d go with the Legato + Mokkom combo, less stress and more consistent shots from day one.
Very happy so far with my Turin legato v2. Need a dedicated espresso grinder though as others have mentioned.
Turin legato v2 for 480 is a lot more value imo. All the features of machines twice as expensive.
Very happy with my Turin legato v2 and df64 for $888.
