Agree. I honestly have no interest in upgrading from my robot. The other machines have a cool look and feel, but nothing beats the simplicity and quality combination of the robot.
I second the robot. It’s great. Though the wait times people are experiencing now must be frustrating. Guess I got in before the rush. Given the wait, a La Pavoni could be a fun option. Get one used and buy a gasket kit (sold all over the place online) and you’d also have a winner setup
Cafelat Robot - mostly making coffee for myself - mainly drink iced lattes - I can "save" and shots, so less bean waste - No back flush or descaling necessary Lagom Casa - minimal static, retention, and mess
I use my stainless steel French press for my daily coffee. Recently I got myself a Cafelat robot and a Nespresso Virtuo POP for my teenage girls. The robot makes mind blowing espresso compared to the Nespresso’s pseudo cup, and the maintenance is supremely simple. Get the Cafelat robot you won’t regret it.
No Buy. While Nespresso machines are fast, convenient, and consistent, with a lower upfront cost compared to traditional espresso machines, they typically have a shorter lifespan of a few years. Pod-based coffee makers are inherently less durable and more prone to failure than simple, mechanical options like French presses, Moka Pots, or other espresso machines. Machines with fewer electronics and more easily repairable parts are considered BIFL. Tastewise, Nespresso “espresso” is usually flatter, less intense, and more one-note, especially if you have a discerning palate for good coffee. Even a modest entry-level espresso machine or Moka Pot with a separate grinder allows you to use fresh beans and adjust the grind and dose, which significantly enhances the taste compared to pods. If you’re looking for a high-quality BIFL setup, consider getting a Baratza Encore bean grinder (easily repairable and highly regarded by the BIFL community) and a Cafelat Robot. The Cafelat Robot is a manual lever espresso machine that can achieve espresso-like pressures and uses a standard 58 mm basket. With a good grinder, it can produce classic syrupy shots with real crema and pressure profiling. Its metal construction, stainless wet parts, and simple lever design are intended to last a lifetime, with maintenance primarily consisting of occasional seal replacement and light lubrication. However, it requires a separate hot water kettle, careful dosing and grinding, and some technique to manage pressure but all can be dialed in with a few practice cups. Despite the initial intimidation, it’s pretty straightforward once you learn the workflow and still easier to maintain than large pump machines.
First of all you watched the wrong people on yt. It's coffee influencers. On yt money talks. All the reviews of machines it's not real user experience, they have the machine for 1 week, play a bit pull 2 shots and think they know all a about it. I suggest get a manual lever machine. A cremina, a Pavoni or a cafelat robot with a top of the line grinder. All this heat up under 10 min, the Cafelat is ready as fast as the water boils. Also a manual grinder like a kinu m47 it's awesome, small compact setup. I use a manual setup and the quality it produces can't be found in a coffee shop. I hope you consider. https://preview.redd.it/ve845w6lhzhg1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9759480de7adc0ba19d3618b28f96acfb8a2fc6b
