To that end, I use an earlier generation version of this dynamic mic on a boom arm, and it does an excellent job not picking up my wife who stomps around like godzilla despite being tiny, a toddler who yells with authority, and 4 dumb but loveable dogs that share 3 total brain cells. https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/at2040usb
Whether a microphone is a dynamic or a condenser has no effect on how much of the room it will pick up. If your room sounds bad, choose the AT2040, as its pickup pattern is hypercardioid, which *will* pick up less of the room.
You can find any of the USB dynamic cardioid audiotechnica mics on Facebook Park for like 30 bucks and they sound incredible. You just have to not mind a microphone all up in your biz. Filters help maybe a tiny bit of compression and gating is all you need though, I feel like people on here tend to suggest over modulating.
I have an audio technica usb mic with an on-board audio card. I think I've had it for at least 5 years and it was like $150. My qual was accepted. If you already have a stand-alone mic that sounds good you might as well try the qual. Maybe having a quiet place to record is more important.
I didn't want to chance it so I just bought an audiotech one. They seemed reasonably priced where as the other brands mentioned were like hundreds more.
