He also used a Beyer M500 at times, which is kind of an insane microphone. I don't mean that in a bad way. I own two of the things. But it's a hypercardioid ribbon with a HUGE peak in the 5K-10K range. Sounds fantastic when it's exactly what you need and not so great on everything else. Fun fact: an M500 was my first direct shootout against a 58. Next to the 500, the 58 sounded like a walkie-talkie. ;)
