Before buying an expensive XLR microphone with the heavy cable and XLR to USB audio interface try a $15 wired Boya lavalier microphone in the middle of a pillow fort built on your desk then use a voice isolation suite, filter, or plugin or Adobe Podcast. If you donβt like that look into PodMic USB.
So I've worked in broadcasting with plenty of $1000+ mics, but I have an almost embarrassingly inexpensive solution for you. Years ago I bought a couple of Boya BY-M1 lav mics after comparing the sound of a bunch of cheap lavs. I didn't have a need for them for my pro work, just wanted something for my kids' school video productions, couldn't justify spending much but didn't want something that sucked. As expected they were usable but needed a heap of EQ due to "chin shade"; they sounded muffled when clipped to a collar. The other day on a whim I tried a tip from a film sound guy who suggested taping it with medical or strapping tape to the centre of the chest, in the little hollow just below the sternum - yes, under clothing. With one layer of T-shirt I suddenly got a sound that was so much better than anything I could have expected, plenty of crispness and articulation. I notice there's now a "pro" version of this lav with upgraded capsule, better frequency response and monitoring. It's still cheap, and probably better, but I'd happily use the basic ones.
Boya lapel mics they are cheap but have decent quality but if you are not lucky and buy some Chinas knock offs be sure to get terrible outputs. I now only use the [mic calculator](https://electronicszone.online/calculators/microphone-selector) when purchasing mics to avoid falling into the fake ones.
Buy the gopro official mic adapter and use boya lav mic
I use a Boya lav mic on mobile. It works great. I also use it for filming content. Takes away a ton of background noise, which is very nice.
Yeeeep! I have an echo-y lofted bedroom and a 70lb catahoula who thinks the moment my camera is on should be the best time to clippy clop around the no carpet downstairs. I can attest to the fact the Boya doesn't kill all that insane echo, but it helps. And you can't hear the dog at all.
I bought a cheap boya mic because I didn't want to pay the premium of the then Rhode wireless system.i wasn't filming a lot I had issues with the connection in the field. ended up never using the mic. I started to record more talking head footage outdoors and when I needed it, the mic died and I couldn't charge the charging case anymore. I tried everything. i recently bought the DJI mic mini because I didn't want to use the charging case and only needed one mic. can't wait to give it a try.
BOYA mic are decent as well, given the compact factor vs what they deliver, its value for money
Got some Boya ones recently..cost about Β£40 and really good, have noise reduction.
