If you are getting the Creator combo, then get another standalone Mic 2. If not, I'd recommend the Mic Mini as the size really makes a difference. Souce: I have both Mic 2 and Mic Mini

i have the osmo pocket 3 creator combo. before i purchased this, i had the dji mic mini. so now both my partner and I film on the osmo and use one of the dji mini mics. i do see a difference in quality when it comes to Mic 2 vs Mic Mini but it’s not much. Def doable

If you ONLY are going to be using the Pocket 3 (or the Action 5) and don’t want to connect the mics to anything else like a phone or mirrorless camera, you just need the Creator Combo (trust me, you want that extra battery handle and the other accessories. If you want to do vlog style holding the Pocket 3 with both of you in frame the wide angle is gonna be vital) and one extra Mic 2. The RX receiver is only needed if you want to use those mics with a phone or camera as well. Oh and if you’re in the US, wait till Black Friday, Amazon teased one of its deals will be on the Pocket 3.

For the media mod I like the dji mic wired lapel mic. Or the dji mic2 used with a cable. That’s a 99$ mic about as good as a 300$ mic.

10 batteries! I love it! To answer your question I can post a video with a Bluetooth mic AND an internally recorded mic , sync’s in post. [is this video. this is a GoPro 13 Bluetooth to DJI mic2 inside my helmet.](https://youtu.be/OqJ10oRwViA?feature=shared) [in this video this is GoPro 13 with DJI mic 2 internally 32bit recording](https://youtu.be/jTOD1LIsSq8?feature=shared) You may really only need a mic if you want to narrate while you’re running or jogging, but FIRST I do have a FREE tip for you before you buy the mic. On your GoPro 13 it includes a new audio mode called “voice profile” , try changing it to voice profile in the audio settings and go for a jog. See how it sounds. If you’re not happy add a DJI mic2 or rode, sure. I like the DJI because I can use it with all my cameras, insta 360, DJI action 5, and GoPro 13. The microphones aren’t waterproof, BUT I’ve never had an issue with sweat or even light rain inside my helmet.

I used to have the Rode Wireless Mic Go 2 and switched to the DJI Mics and then the DJI Mic 2 because they were much more user-friendly. What bothered me most was that with the Rode Wireless Mic Go 2 you needed the PC program or a phone app to change settings and to transfer or convert audio files to the PC, whereas with DJI you get ready-to-use files and can make all the settings on the receiver. I don't know if they improved that point on the Wireless pro. I didn't notice any major difference in the audio quality straight away, but I only use the devices every now and then. I mainly used the devices when I was at events in my village or community, taking photos or videos for clubs, or occasionally recording church services. There I also often used the Sony UX570 voice recorder and connected it to their mixer or microphones if available, and often used the audio track and the DJI Mics as an alternative. I personally don't currently plan on switching to the DJI Mics 3. While I find it interesting that you can use up to four microphones, it's a bit silly for me because I also like to connect lavalier or directional microphones and use a 3.5mm jack input. When I've used the DJI Mics, I usually record the audio into the microphones and then synchronize it with DaVinci Resolve afterward, just to have a bit more flexibility in the sound quality, especially when using musical instruments that push the volume to the limit. I don't do this professionally, but more as a hobby. I use a DJI Pocket 2, Pocket 3, Sony A6500, and occasionally a DJI Action 5, and I usually just film from multiple angles and then edit them together afterwards.

Compared to the Mic 2 yes the quality will be worse. For just fun and casual use you probably wont notice a difference but for any professional work where you want/need to edit the audio you will absolutely notice a difference. You wont get the same quality from a 170 dollar mic as you will a 350 dollar one.

Also no lav mic input and it's not 32bit float which is a must in my opinion for any professional work. I absolutely hate when someone has a mic clipped to their jacket or shirt in an interview video or anything. It just screams amature or lazy work.

I agree. I think this is more geared toward run and gun content creators and less so film/video professionals. I love my Mic 2 and I use it a ton but it's almost always with a lav mic. I could never just clip it onto a shirt for any paid jobs. It just looks so unprofessional and it's distracting. Who really knows? Afterall DJI arent the first company to come out with a product that makes people think but why?

It all depends on your phone, if it's a modern android or iphone, then any usb microphone can work IF you connect the mic to a powered hub first, then connect the hub to the phone. A blue snowball would be my recommendation if you can find the right hub, super cheap, sounds great, leagues up from your current mic and leaves you room in the budget. If you're down to try the creative approach of playing the beat on your phone through headphones, recording your voice on a different mic, and importing that audio - then get a Zoom H1, they sound amazing, super adjustable audio sensitivity, and you can use them to record basically anything at super high quality with just two AAA's. The mic records to an SD card, and I've plugged an SD card into my phone with the usbc charging port which worked perfectly on a Pixel and was nearly instant to copy a recording to a project - your mileage may vary ofc If you want a wireless one, you're gonna have bad audio unless you break the budget, **avoid** bluetooth especially. THE EXCEPTION to this is the DJI mic lineup - the Mic 2 is amazing, the Mic Mini is a dual channel that can connect to any phone with usbc, and they use proprietary stuff to make it clean

No, only up to 2 using the internal receiver as that was the limit when the Dji Mic 2 was released. The Mic 3's receiver can support up to 4 Mic 3 transmitters, but you'd need to plug it into the Pocket 3's USB port.

I bought the creator kit in India for 69K INR. The basic kit was 49K. The only useful thing for me was the DJI 2 mic. I dint use the 2 extra batteries and stand much.. The built in mic is really good when there's not much external noise and you're holding it in hand. Otherwise an external mic useful, esp when there's wind. You can use the wind muff. The mic that came with creator kit syncs easily. That's the only advantage. If you can buy it solo, skip the creator combo and just invest that money in VND filter (for harsh day light) and Black mist filter (for film like look + soft skin). Cheers! Any thing else you wanna know abt Pocket 3 ask me. I'm a creator and used it extensively for content creation

I'm using senheizer mke200. little and light. I also have dji mic2. I prefer mke200 on sony body becose it is ready to go straight after turning the camera on. Dji mic needs more buttons to press and wait to connect. And I had few times when I thing cable didn't get working properly and audio end up bad. With senheizes no issues at all. Dji mic is brilliant with osmo action 4 wirelessly. Dji mic records more what you saying with much quieter background, senheiser records much more background audio. both very good on strong wind. :)

I've been using the DJI Mic 2 kit recently (with the additional Sony multi-shoe adapter for the receiver) and it's been great. Was shooting interviews so the two mics in the kit, one on the interviewer and the other in the talent, were perfect and the internal recording of the mics was a great piece of mind back up for whenever the camera wasn't rolling I knew the mics would still pick up. Previously I'd been using some neewer wireless mics that didn't have onboard recording and the camera over heated and cut out in two interviews and I simply run out of power on a third (they were 2hr long and, against my protests, they'd booked three in a day - four NP-FZ100 Z's only run so long.. especially when you can only have two at a time in the battery grip - have replaced with two hotswappable v-mounts now that hold three times the charge each). Had an old dat recorder as backup which was just not that great, so when piecing together the final cut you can hear the difference (not that anyone but me would care I feel, but that's enough in my book) - had a b-cam to cover drop outs on the primary. But with these DJI Mic 2's it's been an easy and simple run - only needed to splice extra audio the once this time round (now I've got power and heat managed better) when the interviewer kicked off before I'd given them the thumbs up for rolling and it's barely distinguishable. The only downside I'd say is it seems to record in half hour chunks rather than one big file (or at least 4gb limits incase of a fat32 filesystem) - I get this can be to save most the audio in the event of a massive system error, you only lose up to that thirty minute chunk, but for how often they would eventuate vs having to stitch the chunks together at the end I'd personally prefer that to be an option (which it may be, should probably look in to more) - especially as half an hour is still a fair bit to potentially lose anyways.. But, that's definitely just a niggle, they're great sounding (amazing even), good battery life (especially thanks to the recharging case) and well featured, I have a few DJI things and they're all similarly well rounded and polished (not perfect, but the negatives are always in the "I'd prefer this" category, rather than anything fatal or rather annoying).

You don’t need the RX in the microphone package for what you are doing. Get the creator combo as it also comes with a nice handy dandy case. The battery grip makes it much easier to hold. Then if you really want a second wireless mic just get the Mic 2 transmitter which sells in the US for $99.

Ahhh no, I meant to write something else there regarding which inexpensive wireless lav devices supported timecodes and which do not but I thought it wasn't necessary so I deleted it but accidentally left part of the sentence in. You could use a Rode NTG or Rode Videomic Go in that 1/8 port if you want a shotgun mic specifically, I believe they can be powered up through it. But using wireless lavs like Rode Wireless Go 2, Pro or Dji Mic II are also good options, so you can have good audio embed into your video, but also a 32 bit backup on the mic internal storage. If you want to use specifically shotguns with an XLR cable, it's better to record audio on a separate device like the Zoom H1 XLR and sync the audio in post production. If you intend to use multiple microphones simultaneously in the future, it's also a good idea to look into recorders with multiple ports.

Got the creator kit highly recommend it. The extra battery and mini tripod stand is a life saver. The onboard mic is okay if your atmosphere is quiet or your comfy editing in post, but the mic 2 that comes with it is incredible, not only does it sync instantly but it acts as a standalone mic as well, meaning you can pair it to your phone and record, or just whip it out and record whatever you want, and you can connect it to your computer and offload the individual non native recording files as tho it’s a stand alone mic. Also, neat trick, when your recording with it, press the power button once to switch to noise canceling mode, it’ll turn green, and once more to go to regular mode which is blue. Cheers mate and happy vlogging! Edit: second fun tip! If your away from the camera and ready to record and got the mic clipped to you, press the link button once and it’ll auto begin rolling on the osmo even tho your away and only have the mic on you. (Tap link again to stop recording too)

This is odd, I’ve paired a DJI Mic 2 to my MAX2 and it recorded to the camera. I feel like maybe I had to use an editor like Final Cut to access to channel where it recorded, and to be honest the audio sounded tinny but was usually, but it does work with my camera. I know there was a firmware update yesterday and I suppose it’s possible they removed this feature, but the experience you’re describing is not what I experienced.

This is a really sweet idea! A few thoughts come to mind: Zoom: Potential for greater storage capacity – pretty sure you can throw just about any micro SD card in there, but perhaps not quite as easy to transfer to a mobile phone? Additionally, if you're out biking it might be difficult to find a secure way to mount it to a bike so that it wouldn't fall off etc. For storytime, If you wanted very clear audio with minimal background noise, you'd want to connect a lavalier mic to the Zoom. Dji: Easy to securely clip on your clothes close to your mouth for clear audio, and it syncs right up with your phone. Personally, I prefer some form of onboard recording so if you have the budget I might spring for the DJI Mic 2 or 3. That way you wouldn't have to worry about getting the phone set up etc.

That's my perspective – I think a DJI Mic is a great fit for either application. Note that the DJI mics would require a USB C cable to transfer the files to your computer though, since they don't record to an SD but rather an internal storage device.

Personally I would want lavs I really like the DJI wireless with a separate Lav head. They have internal recorders if the audio cuts out so you can edit it back in post if you need to.

You could use something like the Hollyland LARK or DJI Mic and leave the receive inactive, just trigger the local recording on each transmitter as you put them on the speakers. It might be a bit of a hassle to sync up all of those recordings in post but it would work. They'll still be trying to transmit, there would just be nothing at the other end to receive. If the venue techs will worried about that, then I'd look into carrying a small bag of something like the Tascam DR-10L recorders - on-body recorders with no transmission capability. They'll be a bit bigger and have no remote monitoring option but have no antennas or chance of causing interference.

Honestly it comes down to what sound quality you like best. To my ears the DJI mic sounded a bit more pleasing than the Rode (others will say the opposite, and I couldn't argue because I'm far from an audiophile), and the smaller form factor of the DJI transmitter was better for my uses. In terms of working with the camera I don't believe there's much of a difference between the two. My DJI mic works the same with any device, simply plug it in, make sure the transmitter and receiver are paired, and you're good to go. I apologize for not giving a more definitive answer, and my best advice would be to (1) watch a few YouTube comparisons between Rode/DJI/Others and pick what sounds best to you, and (2) think about your use cases and choose based on the form factor. Both Rode and DJI are great options and either should suit most users needs. As a side note I also looked into buying the Hollyland Lark M2 due to it being a bit cheaper, but decided just to go with one of the larger brands because there were so many more users reviews and I knew they were tried and true. If you need to save some money that looks like a great option, and I'm sure it would have fit my needs just as well as the DJI.

Rode wireless pro, I believe DJi mic, tentacle sync e are all similar sized and I believe they all have 32bit float. Tentacle sync provides time code along with on board recording; rode and DJi are both consumer wireless audio systems with onboard recording capabilities.
