vixwytch 1.0Go after a dynamic mic above all else, there are some great ones at all levels. Condensers are great, but they do require a lot of room treatment so you do not get every sound in the room. Personally, I use vintage microphones from mid-80s and before. My current favorite is an Electro-Voice 636 Slimair from the 1950s.
