Look into the Elgato Wave Neo you can find refurbished for like $55 regular price $85. It's a bunch of comparison reviews out there of people saying it sounds better than the Wave 3, but it's really up to you. Streaming and talking it's one of the best USB mics out there. If I wasn't using my XLR setup I would be using my Elgato Wave Neo.
lol yes! For easy starters, Elgato Wave Neo ($85), Elgato Wave 3 ($150), Blue Yeti ($100), and AT2020USB-X ($140) are simple plug and play USB mics which are all around good intros for audio. Could still be good to get a stand and pop filter if they don't include them.
I had a blue yeti and hated it. I've tried probably 10 different mics. My favorite one so far that works the best for me is the new Elgato Neo series usb mic. Its easy, plug and play, and sounds great
Bang for the buck is Wave Neo with voice focus
I second the elgato wave. However, I strongly advise against anything blue branded. Cause there's just better options for about the same price
If you need a cheap mic that sounds good. The El Gato Wave series performs really well for the price, and it's USB, so you don't need to buy an XLR interface. You'll need a mic arm and a shock mount though. Do not skimp on a shock mount unless you want your viewers to hear you thumping on your keyboard constantly.
You are using the terminology correctly! There are excellent mics below that price. Check out the wiki for this subreddit. It’s got great mic recommendations. I bought both of the ones recommended (Audio Technica ATR-2100x which is about to be discontinued, and the Samson Q2U). You can get both for about $60-ish. What I would spend the rest on (if he doesn’t already have these) are a shock mount and a heavy duty mic boom arm. My husband bought me the Elgato wave and it’s the best. $100 for the arm, $10-20 for the shock mount, still leaves you $80 to choose a good USB mic. FYI, both my mics have usb and xlr capabilities. ETA: happy anniversary!
I use an elgato wave (1 or 2 idk its about 3 years old or so) and edit it in OBS sounds great imo. Will i be upgrading this year? yes, but it was a great first mic and i highly recommend them if your first starting out.
my viewers told me that when I upgraded my mic I def sounded different and better more clearer. price does make a difference up to a point. I used to same mic till I switched to a 150$ elgato that has a lot better features too.
