My kids have two mics just standing there at the side of the monitor, so an arm's length away. Work fine. One is Fifine K669B. The other is better, but not sold worldwide, so no reason to recommend.
update i ended up buying fifine k669B
I just ended up buying the Fifine K669B. It will arrive tomorrow i'll see how it goes
I recently added a Rode NT1S to my gear, but before that I had a decent time with a Fifine k669b. It's a built in preamp if you don't have an interface and it can get decent sounds if you know a bit about EQing. Only 30 dollars on Amazon.
If you just want something that works without spending much, a simple setup could be two decent USB mics like the Samson Q2U or Fifine K669B (both under $50 each) plugged into a laptop, recording into free software like Audacity or GarageBand. If you can’t afford two mics right away, you could start with one and sit close together, but it’s much better to have one per person for clarity. You can even find second-hand mics that still sound good. For a quieter, cleaner sound, record in a small room with soft furnishings (like a bedroom with curtains and blankets) to reduce echo. You don’t need to overthink gear right now, just get a basic setup that’s clear enough to listen to, focus on great conversations, and upgrade as you go.
I had that one for a good long while and no, not really, no. Like...it's *fine* but it's not suitable for quality work.
Grab something like the Fifine K669B or Tonor TC-777 USB mic since they’re cheap, plug-and-play, and clear enough to get you started rapping without extra gear.
