fyi : this is my first LEGIT post and my english isnt that good As you may have noticed already, the quest 3 mic already sounds horrible thanks to it's horrible background noise reduction meta has forced into it's system, which can be very problematic for users who voice chat a lot or stream content from its constant artifacting. Which Meta has implemented external mic support for it thankfully ! Only for there to be no Meta certified external microphones or any microphones that is known to OFFICIALLY support the quest 3. Ive heard pcvr users have had resolved into buying a wireless desktop tier microphone for their pcs, which i personally still think would be a great purchase even after getting a different microphone. but your wallet wouldnt lmao I searched around to find another microphone, preferrably smaller and more modern for the 2025 standards of USB C and reliabilty, which is where i got interested into the Hollyland Lark M2. It supported the input for Computers, Androids and IOS whilst supporting passthrough charging. Despite there being no information what so ever on the maximum passthrough charging wattage, i took the risk and went ahead and pulled the trigger, since i was originally going to just use it for PCVR. To my surprise, it also worked with the Quest 3 without any additional apps needed, and was able to charge it at its maximum speed the Q3 was able to handle. Not only that, the sound is CRYSTAL clear, Comparable to my snowball Ice microphone. If the modmic wireless is way ahead your budget, id say go for the Hollyland lark m2 instead. Here are some attached images of my setup, using hot glue, and the wattage draw EDIT : forgot to add the images and the link to the product i got Product Link : [https://www.hollyland.com/product/lark-m2](https://www.hollyland.com/product/lark-m2) (USB C VARIANT) Charging speed comparasion : [https://imgur.com/a/KzYs7Ay](https://imgur.com/a/KzYs7Ay) & [https://imgur.com/a/I75vkir](https://imgur.com/a/I75vkir) Images of the setup : [https://imgur.com/a/U6DNDe8](https://imgur.com/a/U6DNDe8) [https://imgur.com/a/rIpvxCv](https://imgur.com/a/rIpvxCv) [https://imgur.com/a/q8tISzM](https://imgur.com/a/q8tISzM)

It works well enough for me. But I am far from a sound expert.

Want to vouch for this one too, just taped one of the included magnets to my Quest Pro (either over color camera or to the side, I did to the side), meaning they are close enough to you mouth that you don't even need their built in noise cancelling. They are small, sound really good, last for 8 hours and you get two.

Why is that? For the size it is impressive in my opinion and as long as you keep the charging case charged the other mic will always be fully charged, swapping just takes a few seconds.

Ah, I very rarely go over 8 myself (QPro controllers only last like 8-10 hours), if you constantly do it then it would definitely be a downside. Edit: Wait a minute, the spec page says 10 hours. . I wonder if I have accidentally had noise cancelling on, which is really not that useful since my positioning places them right next to my mouth.

Hollyland Lark M2. Sounds better than the modmic wireless, and you get two of them!

Is it detected in Windows? Go to start menu, search mmsys.cpl and go to the recording tab. I have the camera version of the Lark M2 (the receiver has its own battery), and I’ve found I needed wait for my mic to connect to the receiver before plugging it into my PC.

If you're going to be fairly close to the phone, anything from Shure's MV88 range could work. I think the original MV88 which clipped into an iPhone's Lightning port (which I have) might be discontinued - I still see it on Shure's website but don't see if for sale new in my region; but the MV88+ and Movemic 88 could all work. There are XY stereo mics that plug into smartphones but the advantage of a mid/side stereo mic is that it will also do mono natively, which is better if you're doing a piece to camera. I find it annoying when I'm listening in earbuds and a YT host has recorded in stereo and the voice keeps moving around the stereo field between edits. That said, you're probably better off with one of the wireless lav solutions that works directly into smartphones. I think the Hollyland Lark M2 sounds better than a lot of the competition.

https://a.co/d/hHFaJtT I was using a hollyland lark. But somebody pointed me towards this one because the receiver can go right on the side of the camera and doesn’t show up on the invisible stick. And it works pretty dang good. Down the road if Insta360 ever allows you to have two of their air mics in operation at the same time. I may switch over to those. At the moment, I’m pretty happy with this one.

You could use something like the Hollyland LARK or DJI Mic and leave the receive inactive, just trigger the local recording on each transmitter as you put them on the speakers. It might be a bit of a hassle to sync up all of those recordings in post but it would work. They'll still be trying to transmit, there would just be nothing at the other end to receive. If the venue techs will worried about that, then I'd look into carrying a small bag of something like the Tascam DR-10L recorders - on-body recorders with no transmission capability. They'll be a bit bigger and have no remote monitoring option but have no antennas or chance of causing interference.

I own both the Larks and the RODE Wireless GO (Pro and regular) - they’ll all do essentially the same job, but none of them will let you turn the transmitting off. So that’s the only real concern.

Yea, I have a Hollyland lapel kit for my phone when I do IRL streams and they're great. The transmitter is about the size of a pack of gum. But, there are wired versions
