Based on 1 year's data from Feb 24, 2026 How it works
What is your budget? The [Hollyland Lark M2](https://a.co/d/jkVdzIH) works really well. There are a couple different versions of it to fit with your device, but the sound is great.
The Hollyland Lark M2 is good. Also DJI products
It works well enough for me. But I am far from a sound expert.
Look into USB-C microphones. This is the one I use with my Quest 3, along with a magnetic USB-C port adapter to protect the port on the headset. The microphone kit comes with 3 pieces: you connect the receiver/transmitter to the headset, then you get 2 interchangeable lavalier style mics that you can wear or clip on. It allows me to charge/power the headset at the same time I'm using the external mic(s). You'll need to make sure that they are USB-C and Android compatible) You'll need to turn on the option to use External Microphones in your Quest Settings.
Yeah works with hot shoe. Although I’ve found mine takes a bit of force to get the plastic clip to fit. Kinda wish they used the data pins so I didn’t have to use the wires.
Holly land Lark mark II pretty inexpensive but gets the job done pretty well
I use a wireless Hollyland MK2 mic; the setup is remarkably easy and sounds great (processed through Voicemeeter to reduce that "wireless lav" tinny sound common with wireless lav-type mics).
fyi : this is my first LEGIT post and my english isnt that good As you may have noticed already, the quest 3 mic already sounds horrible thanks to it's horrible background noise reduction meta has forced into it's system, which can be very problematic for users who voice chat a lot or stream content from its constant artifacting. Which Meta has implemented external mic support for it thankfully ! Only for there to be no Meta certified external microphones or any microphones that is known to OFFICIALLY support the quest 3. Ive heard pcvr users have had resolved into buying a wireless desktop tier microphone for their pcs, which i personally still think would be a great purchase even after getting a different microphone. but your wallet wouldnt lmao I searched around to find another microphone, preferrably smaller and more modern for the 2025 standards of USB C and reliabilty, which is where i got interested into the Hollyland Lark M2. It supported the input for Computers, Androids and IOS whilst supporting passthrough charging. Despite there being no information what so ever on the maximum passthrough charging wattage, i took the risk and went ahead and pulled the trigger, since i was originally going to just use it for PCVR. To my surprise, it also worked with the Quest 3 without any additional apps needed, and was able to charge it at its maximum speed the Q3 was able to handle. Not only that, the sound is CRYSTAL clear, Comparable to my snowball Ice microphone. If the modmic wireless is way ahead your budget, id say go for the Hollyland lark m2 instead. Here are some attached images of my setup, using hot glue, and the wattage draw EDIT : forgot to add the images and the link to the product i got Product Link : [https://www.hollyland.com/product/lark-m2](https://www.hollyland.com/product/lark-m2) (USB C VARIANT) Charging speed comparasion : [https://imgur.com/a/KzYs7Ay](https://imgur.com/a/KzYs7Ay) & [https://imgur.com/a/I75vkir](https://imgur.com/a/I75vkir) Images of the setup : [https://imgur.com/a/U6DNDe8](https://imgur.com/a/U6DNDe8) [https://imgur.com/a/rIpvxCv](https://imgur.com/a/rIpvxCv) [https://imgur.com/a/q8tISzM](https://imgur.com/a/q8tISzM)
The most popular mobile mic brand for IRL is Hollyland. Between the two models, the Lark M2 and the Lark M2S, I would recommend the older Lark M2. It's both cheaper and can attach to more parts of your clothing with the magnet. The M2S is a hook so you need an edge. It's also has the mic at the top so you can point it to your mouth where as the M2S is out and away. They both have noise cancellation, but they may sound a bit "under the water" so play around with that. I forgot if the M2 has a medium setting. https://www.amazon.com/Hollyland-Microphone-Cancellation-Recording-Streaming/dp/B0CP7P4RRQ The other mic brand I see is DJI, but I don't have any experience with those.
From the audio comparisons I've seen, it's pretty similar, and I have not noticed those issues with Hollyland mics in the real world from the streams I've watched. I think the noise cancellation could be better as it gets muddy when it's turned to max. Maybe the DJI performs better there but I haven't had a chance to try it out.
Not a fan of 2.8 zooms as they are heavy and expensive Can recommend 20-60 and a third party 35mm or 50mm primes instead. Mic wise can recommend maono wave T5. On par with holyland mark 2 and DJI mics, but a lot cheaper.
Same. I have had several systems and the Lark 2 is my favorite right now.
I have started and i am currently creating content with an iPhone XS with the Black Magic Camera App and a hollyland m2 mic. My channel is paraguayan and the thing that makes it unique is that i talk about films, creativity or personal development but mixing with experiences i have or books i’ve readed, i try to be true to myself and travel a lot. I have exp In filmmaking. [This is a video where I talk about why Paraguayans feel invisible and how analyzing Pluribus amplified that feeling.](https://youtu.be/mpmCguukW9k?si=EI9VbYqw64qMEkXP)
