Est-Tech79 1.0Type of tests? Because as a 25 year old owner of a C800G and 1 clone, the WA-8000 was not good. Looked for a clone to use on the road and the WA8000 came up really short during our in person listening. When things get stacked, more tracks added, more harmonies get added from the mics is when the men get separated from the boys. Shooting out mics with one sound/instrument/vocal in a vacuum doesn't really show the differences in mics. Sort of like those controlled plugin vs hardware tests. But if you love it that's all that counts.
eunith_music 1.0Can you expand upon the shortcomings of the wa-8000. I got one recently after having rented one and compared it to a dozen other vocal mics, where it performed really well for some specific voice types and genres. I’m wondering what I’m missing out on compared to the real Sony…?
In regards to the wa-8000, which tube did you use as a replacement? I’ve recently come to really like this mic for certain use cases, and I’d love to be able to get even more magic out of it, if possible.
mindless2831 1.0I have the WA8000, and it is so close you can't really tell the difference. And it's a little under 10% of the price. That's why I am all for clones
