Videographer here, when doing documentaries Rode is an amazing lav mic system. From the way it does auto leveling, to split channel audio for 2 units. The audio is clean and clear. Plus the price is right!
r/videography • What’s the best mini mic for IPhone 17 pro ->Rode dyo some pretty good mics, on a budget try and get some used Rode wireless ME mics with two Rode Lav mics. Then I would recommend that with the rest of the budget get a used DJI osmo phone gimbal and a cheap light/s, Neewer do some decent cheap lights on Amazon. Hope this helps.
r/Filmmakers • Mobile Videography: Any good mics or mic recorders? ->The cardo and dji mic2 will both connect without a receiver. The downside to the dji is no gain control without media mod or receiver, while the cardo you can control gain in the phone app. 👍 I have audio tests on YouTube for cardo and Dji headsets via Bluetooth lmk if you’d like a listen. My personal recommendation is either a media mod with a wired rode lapel mic or the cardo. It’s not awful. I found -8 gain to be good with a helmet mic.
r/gopro • Wireless mics? ->I’ve always thought this was a terrible look. I purchased a Lav mic for myself about 2 years ago when I got my RODE Wireless. Great investment and I never look silly on camera
r/videography • The compact wireless mic era is silly ->My low-budget MS TEAMS setup is with a **Rode Lavalier GO**, it works with PC hardware and DSLR hardware and the quality for its budget range is fantastic, while it supresses a lot of gaming noises with its lavalier design - its designed for this use-case. But you have to clip it to something like your headphone wires or clothing. My desk setup is with a dynamic mic for gaming, but everything that works with a relaxed mic distance & high noise supression ends up with a large budget spend for audio gear and more expensive mics and if you have no other use-case but voice com, its just a waste of hobby budget. => go with a lavalier or Gooseneck mic, both are designs for the gaming use-case, just dont look as "cool" as the gear STREAMERS use with faking the broadcast look of old radio for more authenticy via gear. Cheap large diaphragm mics are a waste of budget but quite popular because of the whole streaming circus.
r/buildapc • Cheap gaming microphone that doesn't occupy my whole desk? ->I started out with a blue yeti and switched to a rode lav later on. I personally prefer the lav, both are around a hundred bucks.
r/NewTubers • I need a good Mic with around a 100$ budget ->The Røde Lavalier Go is not a good microphone for ambient sound. If looking at RØDE Lav products only the RødeLink Lav and the Røde Lavalier II are suited for your purposes IMO. I prefer the profile of the RødeLink Lav but the Lavalier II is usually better value as it includes wind protection. I will however recommend the Clippy's (or other Primo EM272 based mics). Get the furs - Bubblebee's are very good if a little pricey - I use the Rycote furs that was sold on Micboosters website when I bought my Clippys - they are fine too. Clip them onto something on either side of your head - it gives good stereo separation. I prefer the straps of my backpack or collar. You can also put them on a hat/cap sunglasses - but if placed ON the head the sound image will be affected every time you turn your head just a little. I turn my body less than my head so body placement is better for me.
r/fieldrecording • Discrete Microphones for travel ->rode with a wired lav attached. I only ever use the built in mic in an emergency (lav broke and forgot to pack extras) or on a stick. The hollyland stuff is good too, and if you want to skip the lav part that’s what I would go with.
r/videography • Reporter looking for a wireless mic for interviews, podcasts and news packages. Shooting with iPhone ->Im a very occasional gimbal user. Rare that I'll use it for a full day. 9 times out of ten I'll be handheld, tripod or monopod. My manfrotto monopod was the best bit of gear I've ever brought. I did just buy RODE wireless pros. Like some elements. I prefer the look of my older RODE lavs to the ones that came with. Idk the ones that come with it seem harder to lock into the tx than my older mics (maybe that was just me) and the mic clip is a bit loose and plasticky.
r/videography • Nikon ZR is next! ->I've been recording the sound of Frogs in my backyard with mine, leaving the mics clipped to trees and wandering back away from the spots where they're recording from, using the Rx unit in headphone gain output to monitor the recordings.
r/videography • What to purchase for wireless lavalier kit ->After testing my own Rode Go Pro kit, I have to argue the point on the Lectrosonics. Unique Perspective - I do RF/Roving camera for horse sports,.. and the company I used to work for had Lectrosonics gear with the Rx that mounts inside the camera body, and that thing was lucky to have a 5m range most days, 8 meters on a good day, and got interfered with by everything. My own person Rode Go Pro kit, I've tested on my own time and got better the 25 meters range between the two Tx units and the Rx with zero sign of drop out, I was able to get 50m away and heading indoors when both Tx units dropped out completely. Sound quality wise. the Lectrosonics kit was closer to the sound of the talent, but does that matter if they can't get more then a handful of meters from the camera without dropping out?
