I'd go with microphone. As a owner of a WA47jr there's just things that you can't remove with any plugin. No matter how much EQ you use, cheap microphones sound like knives. In the meantime, angling the mic to the singers mouth but having him not sing directly into it helps a bit
I've been using my Warm Audio WA-47 in so many ways and it blows me away how much I love it. I'm curious if you've tried that and what you think!
I currently work at a studio with a Telefunken 47 and a Warm 47. We recently got the Telefunken and it beats out the Warm for sure, but the Warm is still a strong contender. Great mic.
I’m far from the most experienced person in this thread. Warm makes some good stuff, but they also make some subpar stuff. Really depends on the unit in my opinion. Something’s are easier to do on a budget vs other things. I wouldn’t sleep on them, just approach with a healthy level of skepticism and don’t assume you’re getting a screaming deal on something that’s just like the OG. The 47 sounds really good. I love the Fenton ribbons they just came out with too. Their wa76a sounds really nice. I’ve heard good things about their bus compressor too.
