I have found that the Sennheiser MD 46 is my preferred handheld mic for podcasts. The MD 42 is also nice but has a wider pickup pattern than the 46. The mic has a nice long “reporters” handle and doesn’t produce handling noise like a lot of vocal mics can. I tend to buy mine used when I come across them from $50-$80. They are $200 new. Check Reverb or eBay. Edit: We’ll never mind I just saw the usb requirement. You’ll double your budget getting the Shure MVX2u adapter. Maybe consider the Rode wireless go and get the interview go adapter. I haven’t used it myself, but I have been to podcasts that use one for public interviews and worked well for them.
Generally for trade show floors I would look at a handheld mic such as a Sennheiser MD46 with a wireless adapter to get it back to the camera.
