KSM9 on supercardioid mode ain’t too bad

Its hard to come by good mic technique with rappers. I use KSM9 caps and achieve intelligibility. They are unfortunately not too cheap though. But worth it if you have a lot of rappers coming through your venue.

Haven’t seen them mentioned yet in this thread but maybe try out a KSM9, Beta 87a, or even the sE V7. I bet you like one of them. First time I sang into a KSM9 after using a 58 for many years it was like someone took a bag off my head. Not to say anything bad about the 58. Just my two cents. Like others have said you should definitely have a mic shootout with your producer.

Ksm8 and ksm9's are pretty classy.

You’ll want to get an external microphone that connects via USB or use an audio interface with an XLR mic—something like the Focusrite Scarlett Solo. A USB mic will be the easiest and most affordable option. I personally use a Shure mic with XLR and audio interface but if you want USB only for simplicity.
