I have a balance and really like it. It definitely under counts steps. My wife has an older gts 4 mini. Under counts steps.
r/AndroidWear • Best Android smartwatches — what should I buy? ->I do not think you understand the terms right. Scientific implies a controlled environment, which means you are able to take into account all potential variables which may affect the results and control them. On top of that, systematic means that every test you perform is done on the exact same terms. This does not changes Whether you tests are aimed at one person or the whole population. Because you can have a scientifically validated test results for a single person even if those results may not be the same with other people. So, first of all, his tests are not done under a controlled environment, meaning he is not taking into account every variable which may affect the test results and control it during every test he takes. Simple example, if you test a device in extreme heat it may preform differently than if you test it in extreme cold. Or an example based on personal experience. I used to own an Amazfit GTS 4 mini. He reviewed the Amazfit GTS 4 and heart rate accuracy test was quite bad. And I had the same experience with the GTS 4 mini until I started wearing it slightly higher on my wrist as even the manual suggested, like 2 fingers above wrist bone and guess what, the accuracy improved dramatically. That is called a variable and if you are testing things scientifically, you need to take it into account. Secondly, if you are testing one device on, for example 1 or 2 runs and then another device on 10 runs and then compare the results, then such a comparison fails to be systematic because some results may be randomly good or randomly bad.
r/Polarfitness • Polar Loop - Scientific Review and Initial Test! ->I have pretty much all that but multiple times cheaper. I have used my smartwatch swimming, sauna, dropped it many times and still looks and runs like new. That was 2 years for 90 eur. Now you could get similar quality watch for around 60 eur, so yes garmin watches are overpriced just like apple ones. Like who gives a fuck about what brand electronic you have, no one gives a fuck about it. All it matters is does it have all basic and needed functions. I would never buy overpriced apple or garmin products And yes it does have very bright flash too, its not like only 300+ watches have it Paying over 700-800 for watch is just some next level money wasting. I can buy decent bike for that price. My watch does pretty much all things that fenux 8 does, just 8 times cheaper. Also it looks nicer, more compact and lighter on my arms. Its so light that I do not even feel it on my arm anymore. It has very good gps too, even works fine in forest on par with phone
r/GarminWatches • So for someone who does absolutely no exercise at all is fenix 8 over kill haha ->Amazfit gts 4 mini, it has everything I need. Only thing its missing is built in microphone for speking which i don't really need anyway
r/GarminWatches • So for someone who does absolutely no exercise at all is fenix 8 over kill haha ->I just want to warn those who are suggesting Amazfit. I'm not sure if the model you recommend have these problems, but as a GTS 4 Mini user there are some problems that fully kill some functionality for me: Calendar is very buggy. It's feels like an intern shoehorned this app into existing apps. \- Does not respect DND \- Does not handle timezones correctly \- Confuses "whole day" event start dates \- Does not save any attempts to set a custom vibration for it (always a loud disturbing vibration) Alarm can't be turned off \- So when your alarm goes off, it shows a certain alarm screen. The problem is that if you press the button (or maybe other parts of the screen too, don't remember), you have no way of going back to the alarm screen. It just keeps buzzing forever until the alarm itself decides to stop (I think it's 1 minute) There's other quirky little things that just don't feel smooth, like notifications disappearing quite fast forcing me to interact. Lowest vibration still too intense. I'm not sure if their other models have better support, I can imagine this cheapest model wouldn't have full support. But this lack of software polish does turned me off from their brand, which is a shame because there's a lot more to like than to dislike. Battery life, display, hardware quality are quite the value for the price. I still use it, just had to give up on calendar timeline on the watch and I almost never use the alarm. At the end of the day, the most used functionality for me will always be \[looking at time\] + \[checking notifications\]. I like using the flashlight mode to see in the dark (it's a mode where the screen turns white and full brightness). I hope Pebble's new LED can do the same. I also quite like the size, screen and bezel ratio. I'm a bit worried about that for the PT2. I stopped using my PTS because the battery life was getting closer to 3 days and I ran out of screen protectors: I bought it used and it had scratches, which could be perfectly hidden with screen protectors. But the screen protectors kept getting brown and peeling off on the edges, probably because the screen wasn't flat and doing activities like cooking will speed up the deterioration.
r/pebble • Pebble Time 2 vs alternatives in same price range ->Awesome review. Better than something I'd see on Tom's Guide or Android Central. I already own the Bip 6 and Balance, as well as GTS 4. You were spot on in every aspect.
r/amazfit • Amazfit Bip 6 review: A Bip above the rest ->Well, the GTS 4 has the rotation crown, which is very useful. Much more storage, and felt a tad more premium. However, the GTS 4 will not be receiving any more updates. The screen/display was smaller. The BIP 6 is running the latest Zepp OS. Runs very smooth. It's an unbelievably good smartwatch for the price. The only things I missed were the rotating crown, and the extra storage. They stepped up their game with the 6. It is much more premium looking than the 5. If you want a square face, then BIP 6 would be my choice.
r/amazfit • Amazfit Bip 6 review: A Bip above the rest ->My thoughts. The Galaxy watches are nice but a 2 day battery life is a deal breaker. Steer clear of Garmins. They are fitness watches and not for dinner. Amazfit GTR 4 or GTS 4 are have beautiful screens, Alexa and can make phone calls; exercise tracking and maybe even GPS. Also 10-15 days battery. I like the Versa 2 but not sure the reason only 6 faces can be stored on the watch. Also Alexa. So, it's a tough decision. The Pebble watches have always on screen easily readable in full sunlight. That's incredible and still get great battery life. On my new 2 Duo had 75% at 10:pm last nite and as of 8:40 tonite it's at 72%. That's not bad. I can actually see these watches with a speaker/microphone making phone calls at some point. My old P2s could initiate texts so sure these new watches will be able to too. Thousands of faces and apps. Don't know the Pebble's exercise tracking. As far as steps, my phone is super accurate with that. For me, I'm ready to ditch my Galaxy & Versa 2 for the 2 Duo and Time 2 color screen. Love the Pebble's animations and geekiness. But still like the GTR 4 style and screen. That would be a keeper too. Then, it's the Versa 2. Decisions, decisions.
