I have a coros pace 2 that does the job well, and I stopped using it as much cause I got a pair of Form goggles. It is very nice to have a display I can see while I swim

I use Form Goggles or a Coros pace watch. The Coros track well and can do structured workouts. And having access to my distance, pace, heart rate, and workout time available is really cool

For me I use Training Peaks for collecting all my data. I have a coros pace watch for tracking strength workouts, running, and open water swims. I have a garmin for riding the bike out side. On the bike I have a garmin cadence and speed attachments. And for my peddles I have polar power meters. A Tac X Neo for training on the bike inside. Form goggles for tracking my pool swims. For structuring workouts I use Training peaks for a ATP (year plan). TrainerRoad for bike workouts, Form goggles for swimming workouts. And for the strength and running I enter them into the coros watch app. I’ve gotten the gear over time. If I had to start from scratch I would just use my Coros Pace 3 to track everything and pick up one thing at a time as I got the funds.

My coros pace 2 smart watch counts laps. Before smart watches I used to use a lap counter that attached to my finger and I'd press a button every lap. There are a whole bunch in the $20-40 range. Make sure it's waterproof and look at reviews. Here's one [https://www.yourswimlog.com/best-swim-lap-counters/](https://www.yourswimlog.com/best-swim-lap-counters/)

Coros Pace 2! So much less expensive than a Garmin and have been incredibly happy with it. Links right to strava, has all the realtime information you could want, highly recommend.

I use a coros pace 2. It has been a great addition to my swim training. The swim mode is well developed. It records distance correctly, most of the time. The only issue could be that it does not record drills correctly so I do not use it for that. It is very simple to use and has a great app. It is mostly a running watch, but works really well in the gym and has lots of other training modes. I use it to record training distance and pace.I do not structure workouts in the app to follow them on the watch because I swim in a club with a coach. I do not think swim training needs much more, e.g. swolf and stroke rate, are good to know but I do not see the use during training. Outside the pool the watch behaves very good and does almost everything similar watches do with the best battery life in its category. That was one of the buying arguments for me. The down side of this model is that it will no longer receive firmware updates after 4 years. The Pace 3 and Pace pro improve on the pace 2. I bought my father a pace 3 and plan to buy a pace pro before the end of the year.

I loved my coros pace 2. It was prettier than my garmin instinct 2, which i just got because I cracked the screen of the coros watch. I thought about replacing with the pace 3, but it was the second time in 4 years that the screen got cracked.

And don’t forget the incredible battery life. Mine is about 2.5 years old and I still only need to charge it about every two weeks. And that’s with around 30-40 miles a week of GPS usage.

Pace 3 user here. I started with the Pace 2 when they 1st came out and went to the 3 after a bike wreck left the 2 smashed. Overall Coros has been amazing.  It does everything I need and tons I don't. I didn't want a smart watch, so it works well.

I use a head unit for most rides, but I do have a coros pace 2 that I track commutes with. I like it a lot. Battery life is really good, and I use it for other workouts like gym and running. I did forget my wahoo head unit for a race over the weekend and I was able to use my watch to record the race and keep an eye on my power and HR without issue. And I won one of the races I did with the watch… so +1 for that I guess?

I’ll say, big advantage to a head unit over the watch is being able to load and follow a route easily. I only use the watch for rides where I absolutely know where I’m going.

I’ve been using COROS pace 2 for about 2.5 years Had it replaced on the final few days of warranty due to burnt screen and got a brand new sent over and it’s being going on strong This watch has all that I need and more as a cyclist and runner. It doesn’t have a triathlon mode or Atleast I’m not sure how to set it yet but the battery life on this watch is superb. So far I’ve not experience any software issue, sync issue to Corus app or strava Budget wise, it’s pretty cheap when i first got it tho I’ve not check on the latest ones as this watch just refuses to die

Garmin is good for running but their sleep tracking is awful. I had a Garmin Forerunner 45 for a couple years but the sleep tracking was so bad that I replaced it with a Coros Pace 2, which has better sleep tracking. I got that on sale after the Pace 3 came out but they don't see it anymore.

That absolutely sums up my opinion. I sold my Coros Pace 2 because my ageing eyes had issues with the MIP display on the smaller screen, and moved on to amoled displays on the FR265 and Race S. But now, with the Pace Pro, I would definitely go back to the Coros because it offers a good balance of features, purpose and stability. If you think Suunto's software quality has been better than Garmin's in recent months, you're clearly not affected by the inferior software quality (sleep tracking, OHR, WiFi, etc.) of the last two Suunto FW releases.

Don't buy Coros. I had Pace 2 which glass has unglued just a few months after warranty ended and it couldn't be repaired. I bought 3 months ago Pace 3 and now its barometer/altimeter is broken. It shows insane values for the altitute. I live and ran at almost completely flat terrain about 170m above sea level and the watch shows during 5km round run 963m elevation gain and min h. \~1650m and max height \~2450. When I'm at home or just walking it says that the altituded is between -1000 and +500m randomly.

I use Coros Pace 2 after trying Apple Watch and finding the GPS was not accurate enough. I've had my Pace 2 for two years now and it's great. It measures distance and relevant body metrics accurately in my opinion. I think it is mainly for running, and does running great, and I don't need it for anything else, so it's perfect for me. I hear Garmins are also great but I think they have extra features that I don't particularly need and therefore don't have to pay for. One caveat - in the past few weeks I've wondered if the (always stellar) battery life on my Coros is flagging. It's a two-year-old watch and not the latest model. Up until the past few weeks, it keeps a charge for like two weeks at a time, and I run 6 days a week.

I have a Wahoo Kickr for hardware and use TrainerRoad for software. TR provides inside/outside training suggestions for all distances of triathlon and is the main platform for logging my info. I run/swim with a Coros Pace 2 watch and as a secondary system log all my workouts in Strava (free). The Strava connection is completely optional but helps me track mileage on my equipment and it’s fun to see monthly activity stats in a slightly different way than TR.

I’ve had and loved garmin forerunners and a coros pace. Slight preference for coros over garmin for battery life. Slight preference for garmin for multi-app interoperability.  I’m actually planning to buy an Apple Watch because it’s fine as a fitness tracker and has better health tracking capabilities on top of the fitness stuff.

I feel like discounting a watch based on not liking the style of them feels like not taking the training very seriously. No shade to those that train without a watch, but if you're foregoing having a screen with your live HR strapped to your wrist based on style then I feel like the priority is a bit upside down. I don't think I or anyone has ever thought about how stylish someones running watch looked when out on a run. I don't wear my Coros when I'm not running so it's not like we're accessorizing around it. I guess you could just use a phone and track the distances but IMO especially if you're a new running having an HR monitor on your wrist is invaluable. Before I understood how my body feels at the various zones I don't feel like I was effectively training and monitoring my progress live throughout a run really helped me improve fast.

Basically any modern smartwatch will do this. Your axes of choice are ecosystem, battery life, and price. The basic Apple Watch will do what you want, but because you’re using the GPS, the battery will be dead mid-day. I do not recommend any Apple Watch but the Ultra for an athlete or active person because of the awful battery life. If you want something cheaper than the Ultra, I’d look at the Coros Pace and cheaper Garmin Forerunner options. They’ll both cost about half and are really good products with roughly 5-10x battery life vs the basic Apple Watch.

I've used Coros watches for about 6 years now. First a Pace and now an Apex 2 Pro. They don't have all the functions of a smart watch, but if you're concerned with accurately tracking workouts, I'd go with a Coros or Garmin. Plus, my battery lasts at least a week.

I may be old school, but I don’t think watches really do any of that in any useful way. I used to be a triathlete and obsessed with data. The watches are excellent at tracking endurance but even then it didn’t tell me a lot on a day to day level or anything usable. In the long term, even as a triathlete, only benchmark workouts and long term trends can be reliably used to inform effectiveness of training. Even doing the kind of training the watches are designed for, the recovery and readiness data were useless and never correct based on my own knowledge of my body and how well I did in benchmarks and races when the watch said I was peaking vs needed recovery. The constant movement alerts, targets etc also fuel obsessiveness and junk training for points. In hiit training, the watches really are useless. The HR functionality isn’t much use, calorie burns are completely wrong. There’s no useful info a watch can give you for lifting or hiit type training. It also can’t be worn with easily kettlebells and can affect front rack position and gymnastics grips. If you want to compare your heart rate doing 10 burpees today vs tomorrow, really the variability during those burpees is going to be greater than the sensitivity of the sensor, and if it’s up or down what does that tell you? Honestly, use an app like sugar WOD or paper and pen and write down your performance in benchmark workouts, time for a certain distance run/row, and your 1-rep, 3-rep, 5-rep max lifts. This will show whether you’re going in the right direction. Now, If you want to spend the money to get a nice watch to track running and other cardio in excess of about 5 minutes steady effort, garmin is excellent and for my money COROS is as good for far less $. Apple Watch does all the same stuff 90% as well, and with many other features alongside.

True, but my points are still valid. If Whoop have done anything that contravenes any laws they will find themselves getting challenged. If they haven’t, and I’d be surprised if their lawyers have missed any loopholes, then as I said, people can complain all they want but are left with the two options I mentioned. If they choose to leave I guarantee they will have some other issues with the platform they choose going forward. None are perfect. Good luck with whatever you do. I’ve gone with a Coros watch and the HRV4Training app. Covers all my requirements and is as streamlined as I can make it.
