"Battery, obviously. Listening to downloads on LTE burns 20% per half hour for me."

"If you are used to 10+ days of battery life there is absolutely nothing you can do but accept that you'll need to charge a pixel watch every day. ... But we're talking 36 hours to 48 hours, etc. ... There's nothing you can do to approach what is even the low end of a Garmin watch."

"battery life just sucks. ... Even after shutting off all notifications except for messages and chat and setting the vibration to minimum and audible notifications to mute with only tap to turn on the screen I get less than 2 day battery life (36 hours tops) & it's brand new. ... it's costing me too much battery time."

PW 3 is MUCH better than the OG. Sleep tracking works every single night. It charges much, much faster. The battery lasts longer. The UI is quicker. Apps update faster. Fitness tracking is more accurate.

This is already possible on the PW1 and has been in use since the market launch. When I tested PW3, I only got to max 36 hours. So in stayed with PW1.

That's interesting. I was really disappointed and had the PW3 with 45mm but then returned it and continued to use the PW1. I'm rather impressed that she still holds out so well. Another reason is the constant changes to the charging port. I charge the PW1 90% via Qi because my third-party pad is ironically compatible. Now I wanted to upgrade to the latest model this year, but the new charging port makes sure that every case looks terrible or needs to be removed when charging... Hopefully the PW1 will last another year and we'll just get Qi2.

I have talked about this before. I'll give short review. Before buying the watch, make sure the feature "loss of Pulse detection" is approved to work in where you live. In Canada loss of Pulse detection isn't approved by health Canada yet. The watch has a very minimal advantage over the pixel watch 2 (in terms of health tracking accuracy). For more info, check out the quantified scientist on YouTube. Pixel watch 3 is an upgrade if you go for a 45mm size. Pixel watch 3 doesn't allow you to store pictures on the watch like Samsung watches. Pixel watch 3 doesn't play music through the watch's built-in speaker. (Unlike Samsung watches) Pixel watch 3 whether 41mm or 45mm, with always on display on, it can't get more than 2 days battery so get familiar with charging it every day or so. The watch tracks body temperature but in an odd way that compares it to the previous day temperature. It usually gives values like +0.4c +1c but never actually tells you if your body temperature is 32°c like apple or Samsung watches.

I bought the pixel watch 3 41mm and it's been great HOWEVER there are serval deal-breakers to consider. The battery life is okay, you just have to get used to charging it daily (especially if you reply to messages or take calls on it) Health tracking features and sleep tracking is amazing (I've Fitbit charge 6 and the results are extremely close if not exactly the same BUT the pixel watch 3 during heavy runs is off by 10 beats and sometimes by 1-4bpm. (Which I believe is lack of accuracy on Fitbit charge 6) Downsides and deal-breakers (my opinion comparing to other watches don't hate me) 1- if you come from a Samsung watch, you'll almost regret buying pixel watches. On Samsung watches you can transfer photos to your watch) pixel watch 3 doesn't let save pics on your watch, though you have 32 GB. 2- Pixel watch 3 doesn't allow you to listen to music from the watch itself. (Speakers) It forces you to have YouTube music or Spotify subscriptions to be able to listen to music from the watch and even that, you must be connected to earbuds. In a nutshell, you can't go out with your watch only for a run without earbuds and expect to listen to music. 3- pixel watch 3 doesn't let you measure oxygen in demand. 4- pixel watch 3 doesn't measure stress on demand 5- pixel watch 3 doesn't give you real temperature measuring data because on the Fitbit app the temperature shows (-0, -1.5) etc it doesn't give you actual skin temperature like apple and galaxy watches 6- pixel watch 3 most important feature lose of pulse detection doesn't work in Canada and the USA yet 7- pixel watch 3 on Fitbit app measures calories throughout the day and by the end the day tells you you burnt 2k-3k calories unlike Samsung and Apple watches that just tracks how much calories you burnt working out only. Basically, the app doesn't distinguish between the calories you burned from your workout and the calories you burnt while resting. It combines it. Overall those are some limitations I've experienced with the pixel watch 3. The biggest deal breaker is being unable to play music from the watch itself or be able to transfer photos to the watch. Otherwise why 32gb! Buy the pixel watch 3 if you can put up with fitbits weird way of presenting burnt calories, and the lack of oxygen on demand measuring, lack of actual skin temperature in C or F and other things I listed. It's truly a great device for just runs, workouts and heart rate tracking that's all. If you're looking for a "smart watch" I believe Google's limitations makes it seem like the pixel watch is a smart band in a smart watch body. Highly recommend the Fitbit charge 6.

Honestly, those were just my thoughts. I understand some people think it's not a big deal. to me, I like having a small device that can do everything for me; which is weird because you almost never find something perfect, I understand. I just got used to it on Samsung I guess. My only problem is that I don't want to carry my earbuds to be able to listen to music it's almost like you telling me why should I play music from my phone speaker sometimes it's for fun or when you're laying down and just chilling. I want to be able to go for a run without having to worry about charging my earbuds and taking it with me

I would only recommend the pixel watch 3 if you are not from Canada or the United States because then you can use loss of pulse detection because I believe that's a very important features it's the main reason I actually bought the watch but it doesn't work where I live so it's pointless. I recommend you wait for a few months until the price drops and you'll be better but don't buy it right now it's like 600 Canadian dollars here

You can actually do what I did. I'm an abuser of the 6 months free trial so I had one account set up with the pixel watch3 and I created a new email with Gmail and used it with Fitbit to get 6 months free trial and now I use that with my charge 6. Or you can forget a device and connect the other on same account it was smooth for me. You just can't use both devices in one account. In terms of advantages of pw3 over charge 6, I 100% promise you it's not worth it. 99% of the time the results of the heart rate during weightlifting, running etc is barely 2-5 BPM only one time it was 10 beats difference during a run but other than that for two months they are the same.. heck even same sleep, same awake time same skin temperature, same breaths per min, same resting heart rate, same everything. They are using the same algorithm. But if you want me to be honest, I actually put my pixel watch 3 on sale on Facebook marketplace because I didn't like the fact that I have to charge it daily. trust me, the first few days everything will be good, you'll be okay with charging it everyday, but then after that, you're going to get fed up of charging it daily. I literally went to bed and my pixel watch 3 was fully charged and my Fitbit charge 6 when I woke up, the Fitbit charge 6 was 97% and the pixel watch dropped to 79%. by the end of the day, the pixel watch 3 was at 15% with always on display of course, and my Fitbit charge 6 with a 63% with always on display. I would only recommend the pixel watch 3 if you want to be able to reply to text messages and use wear os. for the most part, the watch useless in my opinion. You can't put pictures on it you can't put music on it it's pointless. Currently my plan is to buy Galaxy watch 5 pro and use it for the wear OS futures and the Fitbit charge 6 will be more than amazing for my workouts and sleep.

My point is on Android you can download the song as MP3 and just be able to transfer it to the watch (Samsung) and listen to it. you can't do that with pixel watches, so you have to pay to do that. not only are you paying like $600CAD for the watch, you're paying for a monthly to subscription to listen to music that you can't access until you use your EARBUDS by the way

Thank you for correcting me. I wrote a long past so of course some of the things I said may not be 100% accurate. On the Fitbit app I don't see a way that shows me my resting calories and my burnt calories during the workout it shows it all together. If you know how I can make that a distinguish in the app, let me know.

I went from a Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire to a Pixel Watch 3. Day to day I prefer the Pixel Watch 3. Having to charge it daily isn't too bad as it sucks onto the charger neatly so I just charge when I shower and it's good to go when I need to leave the house. The Fenix is great as you don't worry about charging for two weeks but charging is annoying as you have to plug it in and it comes out really easily, say if it's knocked. General use the PW3 is lovely. Intuitive, fast enough, I can even view my cameras on it. Fenix takes a while to understand. Even though it's touchscreen I used buttons all the time. And never enjoyed using the map. Having Google Maps on my watch for walking directions is brilliant. I also use YTM so having that is excellent. The main thing I miss is the sapphire screen. I can't wear my PW3 bouldering now as it would get wrecked. I also do OCRs so can't wait it for those. I got a sweatband to put over the watch when I boulder now so that's not too bad. But you definitely have to take it off in certain situations as the screen is so delicate. With the Fenix I just wore it no matter what and even though the band was messed up the face was flawless. I also didn't like how the Fenix doesn't support Health Connect. Which do I prefer? Hard to say. Glad I got the PW3 but kinda annoyed that I sold my Fenix as I would probably use PW3 day to day and Fenix when I'm doing activities. If I were you it sounds like a Garmin is a better fit.

From a pure fitness tracking and sensors point of view Pixel is much much better. GPS the Galaxy Ultra 7 is the only one out of the bunch same for Battery though that thing is heavy and bulky. The pixel sensors still blow it away though. Sleep tracking- I think both are good at picking up when you fall asleep and wake up however what ever algorithm Samsung uses right now is out of whack. It's so lenient it's almost worthless. 5 hours of sleep, 10 min or REM and no deep? Hell ya great job 89 sleep score for you! (over exaggeration a bit) Pixel is better. The apps they both use is subjective, Samsung Health and Fitbit, I think both do about the the same job and I believe both are getting updates soon. Fitbit does have a paywall but the stuff behind it is only worth it if you want some extra AI and metrics over what you already get. Most people don't use it past the free 6 months. The WearOS skin is also Subjective but both are nice, I like Pixel a bit more only because of the look and feel of the app drawer in the oneUI skin is meh. The last thing is what phone your pairing it with. While you will get almost all functionality across Android there are some quality of life stuff that comes along with paring in the same eco system. Also Samsung has locked a few things, ECG Blood pressure (if allowed in your country and if you will use it, probably only once then never again) I'm talking Alarm, DND and Mode syncing stuff, not a big deal but if you set it on your phone or watch it will push to the other device. Sometimes wont happen if you have a pixel phone and Samsung watch or Samsung phone with pixel watch. Again not earth shattering or watch breaking and proably wouldn't notice it.

Well you have a pixel 8a there are some benifits like were mentioned by getting the pixel like payments and even more. Like synced alarms, do not disturb, calendar, reminders, tasks and such. Some of that works with a Samsung watch just not fully well. Your not into fitness but what about over all health? Maybe try out sleep tracking and stress? Cycle tracking (assuming Female that is) It's fun to watch your metrics and just see what your body is doing. Food tracking, step tracking just for fun. Also what about LTE so you can use the watch if your phone dies, lost, or stolen and can still make calls get texts in emergency's. All of that can be done in most of the big name watches but if you want the smart features you want to probably stick with Samsung and Pixel watches. I have used a Samsung watch (Pro 5 then Ultra 7) for the last 3.5 years, long before that I was Fitbit fan and jumped to Pixel 1 when it was release before going to Samsung. Recently tried Garmin Venue 3 (NOT a smartwatch) right back to Pixel watch 3. I really enjoy and like my Pixel 3 it syncs and works perfect with my Pixel 9 when the phone goes into DnD the watch does. When I set an alarm on ether one it sets it on the other. When your using your phone and text comes in it will not buzz your watch. It's little things like that you can set up.

I prefer Samsung. I recently moved from the Pixel Watch 3 and Samsung Health is better than Fitbit imo. I do agree that the Pixel has better Heart Rate however.  Do be completely honest however, all top end Smart Watches are going to be very similar at tracking workouts, sleep and anything else. Unless you're a serious athlete then just pick whichever you prefer overall (style, comfort, all usable features)

I was comparing between these two exactly... Bought the OnePlus Watch 3 first and spent about a week with it. Great watch but it is lacking behind the PW from a heart rate tracking perspective. It's a beautiful watch for sure and the battery life is *incredible* for Wear OS. Overall I prefer the OP W3 looks vs the Pixel Watch. Right now I am wearing the Pixel Watch 3 45mm as I returned the OnePlus Watch. I simply wanted the best HR tracking for a Wear OS watch and this is it - for now. The Pixel Watch also slides underneath button cuffs on a long sleeve shirt and just looks more svelte overall. I do wish the PW had a more protective body like the OP does. I can get 2 days out of the PW but you are struggling at the end of those 2 days. The OP Watch you could easily leave on a Friday and not come home until Monday or Tuesday and be totally fine on battery.

The HR accuracy was really what pushed it over the edge, for me. If that's not a primary concern the OP is a great watch. I watch a lot of videos from The Quantified Scientist on YouTube and the PW is the most accurate Wear OS watch available.

OP, may I make another suggestion for you to consider? (I'm wearing a Pixel Watch right now so don't come at me Pixel lovers) The battery life is indeed a concern on these watches. If you want Wear OS and are open to a suggestion - take a look at the OnePlus Watch 3 in the smaller 43mm size. It will be very similar in size to your Garmin Venu that you had. You can get about 3 days of battery very easily and if you switch to the battery saver mode can easily go for days longer. I had the larger 46mm size of this watch and loved it - battery life is so good - but ultimately I needed (wanted) LTE connectivity for my watch and so I got the Pixel Watch 3 45mm LTE version. It's a nice watch but battery life is not good compared to Garmin, etc. Anyways, my suggestion is to check out the OnePlus - it's a beautiful, full featured, Android watch!

I personally like the advantage of not having to keep up with yet another thing to keep track of and keep charged up every day - and that's not a perceived difficulty - that's a real thing for many people. I'm glad that you don't mind it, but many other people do. My father is now wearing an Amazfit Active 2 and he is *so much happier* that it lasts ~5 days vs having to charge every day for his Galaxy Watch 6 Classic that he had before.

You appear to not get a lot of things - perhaps the rest of the world doesn't move to the same rhythm that you do? I find it hilarious that by just responding to your statement you downvote my reply, lol - that is some funny shit. I wear my Pixel Watch 24/7 except for when it is charging or when I'm wearing a different more dressy watch to dinner, etc. I like my Pixel Watch tracking my health with its continuous HR monitor, stress monitor, etc. I paid for it so why shouldn't I wear it. For me - I would far prefer if the battery lasted for days+ so I didn't have to worry every day "Oh shit, I didn't charge it yet - let me remember to do that" because I've got enough stuff going on to keep track of.

OnePlus Watch 3 (as mentioned by many others) is the best bang for your buck Wear OS watch right now. The battery life is crazy - it is really really good. Ultimately I did return mine but only because of two things: 1) It doesn't support ECG or AFib detection of any kind at least here in the USA and unknown on when/if it ever will 2) The minimum brightness on the display is far too bright when using adaptive brightness. Imagine being in a movie theater, restaurant, etc with a glowing orb on your wrist. Maybe the display thing isn't an issue if you don't keep the AOD on, but for me, that is a requirement. I hate having a black disc of nothingness on my wrist. I'm using the Pixel Watch 3 now and enjoying it for the most part. It does get better battery life than the Galaxy Watch 7, but only marginally. Its real advantage is the best in class HR monitor which can keep up with the latest Apple Watch which is also known as having a superior health tracking hardware. Just my $.02 on the matter.

Smart watch vs not smart watch. I've used both and discovered the lack of smart features on Garmin is a dealbreaker for me. At first glance your description of use may seem like the Garmin would be ok but even the things like providing notifications (texts and other things) is not reliable in that my Garmin watch would frequently show a generic notification indicator as opposed to the content. I would still recommend the pixel watch 3.

I've gone between them, most recent were pixel 3 and Galaxy watch 7. I use for regular cardio workouts and outdoor hiking/bike riding. I've not noticed meaningful differences between them. I've stick with Galaxy watches because the pixel watch still lacks features like automatically turning on the display with a new notification (on pixel watch you need to tap or lift to wake within a couple seconds of the notification to see it), on the pixel watch you can't re-order the apps in the app tray, and I didn't like that the rotating button long-press couldn't be changed from activating Google wallet. What aspects do you feel might not be accurate in tends of health and fitness tracking? The pixel watch tends to be more accurate for heart rate. Fitbit is now accurate for sleep tracking, but I never cared as much about sleep tracking because there's nothing I can do about a previous night sleep. What I like more about the pixel watch: The UI feels smoother and more responsive. I think it looks more aesthetically pleasing and less clunky. I like the rotating button for scrolling etc. (I never cared for Samsung's rotating crown dial). And I really love that notifications show as a vertical scrolling list as opposed to the (horrible) full-screen horizonal-scrolling cards on Samsung watches.

Hi. From what I remember when i was using fitbit premium with my pixel watch, what you get in addition to the basic features are: * Additional sleep analysis like sleep score breakdown, and one or two other (insignificant) insights--nothing that I remember even being remotely useful. * Access to guided meditation * Access to guided workouts * Daily readiness score (I feel like this one is no longer behind premium but I can't remember) In general I found fitbit premium pretty pointless and there isn't really anything you lose out of by not doing fitbit premium relative to the features and metrics/insights that you get with something like samsung health. Pixel watch definitely does sleep tracking better--more accurate and consistent. I realized, though, that that ended up not mattering to me at all because there's nothing I can do about a previous night's sleep (and I know what I should or shouldn't be doing to get better sleep anyway). The pixel watch definitely does heart rate tracking more accurately, and the PW4 should also be improved for GPS. To me it still came down to general UI experience. Like I mentioned, too many things with the pixel watch UI are not the best experience, and for those things, they end up being things I am doing with my watch all day throughout the day, so even with the lesser fitness aspects of the GW and samsung health, I still prefer it. I still think the pixel watch is not a bad option though, and I really miss vertical scrolling list of notifications as opposed to Samsung's notification card implementation.

What are your desires and expectations? Must-have or don't-care features? Do you want it to have LTE capability? Regarding Samsung there are only a few things that aren't supported without a Samsung phone and, personally, none of these things are all that important and I'm not sure you'd get those features on any other watch brand anyway, so it's not like you're losing anything by getting a galaxy watch. I've used a pixel watch 2 and, most recently, galaxy watch 7. The pixel watch 3 is essentially a 2 but with an optional larger size; the soc and everything other than the display is the same. If you're considering the smaller size options and considering a pixel watch, you should just get the pixel watch 2 instead of the same size pixel watch 3 of you want to save some money. I stopped using my pw2 because it does not show new notifications as they come in without some sort of manual action, so unless you tap the screen or lift your wrist when you get the vibration, you don't get to see anything and 75% of the time my pw2 wouldn't recognize a wrist-raise gesture, so I'd miss whatever the new notification was. Contrast with the Galaxy watch that has this option to just show the notification card with content automatically. If you want a wearos watch with better time between charges without too much sacrifice of features the oneplus watches are good. They aren't great with fitness tracking and the vibration motor isn't very good. People mention Garmin here but I want to point out that they are not smartwatches and even the smartest ones they make are not smart and lack many features of an actual smart watch. I used a venu 2+ for a while and while I appreciated the fitness aspects, the lack of smarts (and generally bad UI design of both the watch OS and the companion app) turned me off after a while.

My experience with ticwatch was with the original pro and then the 3 pro. The original pro was laggy to the point of being unusable, and the 3 pro, when it eventually did get one of the few system updates, had the battery completely die not long after. I got fed up with ticwatch, and you can't trust them for anything to be honest. I've used the galaxy watch since the active 2 and up through the 7 (44mm). Working fine for me, but I don't particularly care for samsung's choice of notification cards (whole-screen horizontally-scrolled cards as opposed to a vertical list like most other watches). But it isn't a dealbreaker. Most everything else, I think samsung has the best overall experience. You could also look into a pixel watch 3. I used the pixel watch 2 and 3 (the 3 is no different from the 2 experience except for the larger size option; the SOC is the same and the software is the same). I think google's software features and fit-and-finish is lacking for their watch (for example, there is no option on a pixel watch to just automatically turn on the screen when a notification comes in to view the notification; you have to manually interact with it by either tapping the screen within a few seconds or lift-to-wake the watch, which is very unreliable--that actually was a dealbreaker for me).

My PW3 sometimes gives me very high misreadings when I'm walking. For example, earlier today it registered 210 bpm when I was walking at a normal pace. I noticed it on my watch when it was happening, so I checked my pulse and the real number about 90 bpm. IME it's better with running. I don't have an actual heart monitor to compare it to, but the numbers it gives me running are usually believable (usually in the 125-175 range) and I haven't noticed absurdly high numbers running.

I tried to replace my Venu 3 with a pixel watch 3. I made it about 2 days before I returned it and went back to the Garmin. Honestly, if a Garmin and the Sleep As Android developer could get that app working reliably (including vibrating the watch silently first), I would never have any reason to even look at another watch. All the other 'shortcomings' either have a useable alternative (eg. Garmin Pay vs Google Wallet) or are such a low priority (eg Triggering Higher Assistant doesn't really work well if at all) to me, that I don't really miss them at all.

If you want it mainly for Fitness tracking, get a Garmin. If you are happy with basic tracking, the pixel watch is a very good one. A bit like the phones: It probably is not the best one, but it works and it's really smooth, fluid. Plus I like the design. Personally I'm very happy with the Pixel Watch 3.

Just had two walks with Pokemon Go, and I used my AGING Apple watch SE (2020) I think, and the Pixel Watch 3, mostly to see if this year I upgrade to an Apple Watch SE 3, or switch to a Pixel Watch 4 since I pre ordered the Pixel 10 Pro and want a new watch-- even setting a timer on my Apple watch 2020 SE is SLOWWWW now. After the first walk, I laughed at how OFF the Pixel Watch was on distance and calories burned. Now I'm only going off the past 5 years of my Apple Watch SE, but the Pixel watch 3 clocked a mile 0.71 miles EARLIER than the Apple Watch SE, which if that's the baseline and assuming is correct, is laughably bad. Final metrics were: Distance walked: 1.10 miles (AW); 1.22 miles (PW) Calories: 104 active, 142 total (AW); 193 (PW) Average HR: 105 (AW); 104 (PW) Steps: Apple doesn't say; 2,535 (PW) Average Pace: 18:49/mi (AW); 17:16/mi (PW) Save for a couple seconds if I paused or ended the walk... Wayyyyyy OFF on calories and distance. Must be terrible GPS and overestimation on calories, I would NOT trust Fitbit/Google if you're using them to be in a deficit for weight loss. Just did a 0.56 mile shorter walk (AW), and the Pixel said I did 0.62. 56 active and 76 total calories (AW), Pixel says 114 calories. Average Pace of 19:36/mi (AW) and Pixel says 17:46. Just two short sessions with it on a simple outdoor walk, and I'm returning this Pixel Watch 3 immediately and just waiting for the Apple Watch SE 3rd generation next month or October. 3 generations, with a 4th dropping early October and Google/Fitbit can't get the hardware right??? No shot I can ever main a Pixel again, as bad as I want to. For the record, I LOVE Pixel and have owned EVERY Pixel except for the Pixel 7 series, and have the Pixel 10 Pro pre ordered after trading in 8 Pro, sold my 9 Pro month or so ago knowing the August 20th event will plummet value for resale. For cameras, it's NO CONTEST, Pixel is better. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and for telephoto, no contest. It's taking rumors that the 17 Pro Max will FINALLY match all lenses to be 48MP range to maybe give them a shot to compete. So I can equally dunk on Pixel for having terrible sensors on their watch, and Apple for up until maybe this year having terrible sensors on cameras on their "pro" line.

I had moved from Garmin epix to pw2 to Garmin epix pro gen 2 and then to a pw3, now I currently have nothing and am trailing no smart watch but think I will go back . I do occasionally hiking and wild camping which is what drew me to the garmins but realistically they are just too expensive for what they offer. I found them lacking "smart" features. Sleep tracking was also terrible. HR and maps were awesome and the battery life is the best. Also found the light very useful. Pixel had the smart features I wanted, health tracking was generally as good if not better than Garmin. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was durability (very easy to mark) and battery life. Its personal preference. Personally I am looking at pw4 but waiting for reviews on the battery life. Or the yet to be announced amazfit t rex pro 3 as a "cheap" Garmin. Hoping as it's more of a smart watch it might have the features I wanted but the health tracking is probably worse (not sure if that bothers me too much )

My last 4 watches have been Samsung Galaxy watches. Hasd the? Watch 6 classic but the lag was bothering me. Bought the watch 7 and pixel watch 3 at the same time and the watch 7 is going back as the pixel watch 7 screen , health tracking , battery life are all much better . Watch 7:battery only lasts a day if that. The pixel watch 3 is a two day watch . Now I do have a Samsung phone so the timer and do 🚫 t disturb don't sync with the the phone. The pixel OS is a lot more mature and smoother feeling to me.

I haven't had a smartwatch before and my review is that I love it. Pros: * This thing tracks my sleep and apparently I'm horrible at sleeping. I thought I'd have to take it off for bed but the battery charges really quickly and I can basically wear it 24/7 minus 20 minutes daily for charging. * It looks very cool and I've gotten compliments * I like paying for stuff without bringing my phone up. Although I kind of have to twist my wrist in a weird way to tap to pay. * I go to Orange Theory and tested the two heart rate monitors at the same time. They're aligned! Sometimes the OTF heart monitor doesn't work for me and then I can just glance at my watch to get an accurate reading. * You get a lot of options for tweaking your watch face. I like keeping mine in a little analog clock because I feel like I'm starting to unlearn how to read that quickly lol. * Could be a con but Fitbit keeps reminding me to move. You figure out really quickly how immobile you become with a desk job. * I'm one of those people who tends to use Gemini a lot and they'll soon push out an update that integrates it. Currently it's Google Assistant (who I loved in the past but have broken up with at this point). Idk if you've seen the new WatchOS 6 videos but it looks like the redesign of the UI is gonna look cool! Cons: * I thought the knob would work better. Clicking it to get to the app drawer is fine, but sometimes I turn the knob to try to get to my notifications and it'll take a couple tries before it'll pull them up. You could also just swipe up for the notifications, but that's just not as cool. * I feel like the tiles are pretty lackluster for my personal needs. If the weather tile was scrollable by the hour (like the weather app is) I'd be happy. Now I scroll to the tile, then click on it to open the weather app. The tile does a fine enough summarization of the weather though. * The band somewhat sucks for me due to sensory issues and a lot of people don't like third-party bands due to bad fits onto the watch. So I ended up spending 60 bucks on the Google store to get a band with an adapter on it. Haven't received it yet so I can't tell you anything about it. The stock band is like a PFAS-treated rubber so no issues with sweat or whatever.

The pixel watch 3 has a 45mm build and a 41 mm build and LTE builds The 45 mm battery is just so much better but many wrists just can't fit the 45mm This is also an issue for the one plus as well as it's bigger than the pixel watch 45mm, but pixel has the choice to use a 41mm. No LTE on OPW3 even if you wanted it. Having now used Advanced GPS (dual frequency) Vs GPS (single frequency) the Dual frequency is just way better for every thing. Navigations and Fitness runs are just better on the AGPS system, which google does not use... The PW3 USA model (That then moved up north) only supports limited GPS systems were as the ROTW gets many more systems for the rest of the planet as well. The pixel is jewellery design, so to turn back to a real metal watch design costs extra. OPW3 design is not special, there are lots of watches with High crown and lower extra button. The OPW3 makes their apps booting laggy, it is planned to be, to save battery. The apps are slow to launch by design, as they have their specific design to shut down the fast CPU when apps are not in use. This means there's lag restarting the fast CPU after the watch actually enters power saving and shuts down the fast CPU. If you constantly use it, it takes a long time to disable the fast CPU. But after sleeping, and going to bed, these dual CPU builds are slow to get going in the morning. The pixel watch 3 will power save and deep sleep apps after 3 months of not using them. This includes any system app like the fit bit ECG app. so first 3 months are higher usage of battery. (Yes it seems i did not use it for over 3 months lol.) Pixel watch 3 has 5ghz AX Wi-Fi for a double edge sword, great for on charger downloads, but if it connects when not on charger to 5ghz it kills the battery fast. OPW3 only has super slow Wi-Fi for updates but can't nuke the battery too hard. NFC is on both watches and is a god send. Any watch that does not have this from now on is terrible. Lol Going back to dig out the phone or even worse the wallet will be pain full while at the till. Prices won't stay as they are if Canada gets them imported via USA first. The rest of the planet will escape this. but anything in Canada that goes through USA first expect prices are going to go up.

runner should never get any thing but a pixel 3 Pixel watch 3 has a run builder. Would never get a runner anything but pixel watch 3. Auto end activity means you get a confirmation. As it tells you if you don't end the work-out will nag you over and over to end the work out. With Text to speech on it very hard to ignore the 3rd time... Why give us NFC garmin if your not going to actualy do anything to actualy get cards supported. Sleep apnea tracking on a watch - this is a gimmick and not worth it. For the watches that do offer it, note that it can only advise if you have medium or higher level of sleep apnea. If you have +medium apnea there are loads of easily determinable red flags that you can give to doctor to get on a sleep clinic to confirm - and if you have + medium sleep apnea you need to be on a CPAP or have an op (very few cases where you don't). If on cpap no point tracking on watch. Where it would be useful is if it could determine mild and distinguish between whether less than 14 events or not (seldom need if lower) but doesn't. Thus pointiless and ignore this. AFIB - note watches can only do this when you are inactive - its one lead so will only pick up certain conditions - if you don't have one of those specific conditions it will not pick it up. Pixel watch may be a good option for you in this regard. Note this is the same issue with ECG. This functionality is pointless unless you have a known condition and it can be picked up by smartwatches - otherwise there is a major chance of watch giving you false info (i..e you think you don't have an issue as it can't pick it up). Blood pressue - per u/EskeRahn . SPO2 - very limited use as again you have to be very inactive and still to get good readings. Can do ok readings during sleep but if lying on arm it will create variations, if arm moving around during sleep - again variations. Often easier to just take a spot reading first thing priro to getting out of bed and using that.

fitness bands I feel are more for health based reasons as generally their hr and gps isn't great for activity (fitness bands are like amzfit band, huawei band, fitbit charge etc). They have started to increase smart functionality and are getting closerto a smartwatch. Smartwatches are more for either companion to your phone (enabling phone features on your watch) - wear os on android or apple watch on iPhone - they can replicate a lot of what the fitness watches offer but its via 3rd party - so not an complete eco system. Then you get yoru fitness brands - garmin, coros, polar and suunto - where their focus is health, fitness and training metrics and analytics - the bonus of these wattches is long battery life and sport specific metrics. And there are the others which are a sort of cross between wear os/apple watch and the fitness watches - huawei , amazfit, xiaomi etc (and loads of chineese branded watches in this category) - these watches can provide great value for money, however health, fitness and training metrics can be much more hit and miss than the fitness watches. As to which is best for you would depend on your focus and what you want a smartwatch to do - yours post seem to be all health based - its worth noting that no watch is a medical device and while some components may have a form of medical approval (fda etc be advised that the type of medical approval sign off doesn't make them a medical device its just confirming they can provide to a specific level - which isn't necessary a medical level that hospitals etc can use). From a health perspective any all of these watches can work for you including fitness bands - just depend on the level of detail and what features you want. Personally I would suggest a fitbit charge for you or alternatively the pixel watch 3 (assuming you have an android). Why fitbit - they give a fair amount of depth to their health metrics and they provide an easy to understand level of insight to their data (note if you want stress detail and sleep score detail you will need a sub). PS - this will provide you with most of the stuff you wanted plus up to 7 day battery life. If you wanted all those features (except blood pressure) in a very classy package you could look at a withings - however I feel they are a bit hit and miss on some of their results, and while you do get a cut out screen note you will have to consume most of your data with the app. So why would you get a watch for health features: Sleep - I pefer one that focuses on recovery as duration is generally fairly accurate for most, sleep stages to a degree is a waste of time (no watch can accurate distinguish between light & rem - even sleep clinics struggle) - thus how a sleep aids your body in recharging makes sense to me - this is a focus for oura, garmin, whoop, polar and to a degree fitbit - garmin is the best at incorporating sleep into other features. Stress - the impact to your body's ANS - can be useful driver with other metrics to show how your body is reacting to various inputs (i.e. high stress during sleep can suggest you coming down with an illness/injury/over training - incorporating this into other metrics like training readiness can help you reduce training and instead maybe take a recovery day enabling your body to recover/have more energy to fight an illness - effectively reducing the chance of injury/illness. This is great summary by garmin of what each health metric is and what it offers and why you might want to track it. Not all garmins have all these features but most do, and most of the other watches have similar features but not to the same level of detail. I've got both the GW7 and the PW3. * The stock watch faces for each brand will refresh auto brightness on the display once per second in ambient mode, whereas 3rd party watch faces only update once per minute, or in active mode. This is a feature for me since I would consider using the PW3 stock faces, but I would not use any of the Samsung stock faces. * The PW3 complications (heart rate/steps/etc) on the stock watchfaces also update once per second in ambient mode whereas the GW7 do not. * GW7 has sapphire glass which is a lot more scratch resistant. I've scratched my PW3 already (after a week). * The PW3 'wears smaller' compared to the GW7 in that the lug to lug distance of the band designs are smaller (roughly 3mm on 44/45mm set). This helps if your wrist is smaller. * You miss out on the pixel camera controller....which is not a big deal. * If you care about health tracking data, it's portable from samsung health to fitbit via health connect, but some things you can't port back (like steps). You also lose certain details like time stamps of activities. * Battery life is roughly the same between the 44mm GW7 and 45mm PW3 * Notifications on the GW7 will wake the screen to the notification (e.g. a text to google messages will open the app and display the notification) whereas the PW3 will vibrate and activate a brief tilt to wake period that will display a short form notification with an option to open the app. * Layouts for the app drawer/quick tiles are not user customizable on the PW3. Overall I think the GW7 is more robust, but I really prefer the aesthetics of the PW3.

Fitbit devices at least newer ones are all getting the newest training features called cardio load and target load. Those we big selling features for the pixel watch 3 at launch. The biggest difference would be pixel watch 3s heavier focus on running metrics. If you run a lot it could be useful. If you don’t then it won’t. As for accuracy. I have heard the same but the sense 2 I have got an update recently that brings Google ai machine learning and the accuracy during workouts has vastly improved. It matches my Garmin forerunner 965 now and very reliable. Pixel watch 3 has heart rate zones which is good if you want to workout within a particular zone. But can still do that with Fitbit just need to see the HR and not rely on the colour coding. The look thing makes sense and lol personal preference. That could be the deciding factor as it’s something you wear daily

you are comparing 2 different products technically...so yes its a fair assessment...one is a smart watch with health and fitness features baked in...the other is a fitness watch with some smart features baked in... I have used everything, garmin, apple, oura, fitbit, pixel watch and more... I tend to navigate more to the apple watch/pixel/fitbit only due to the general health metrics and daily use...i dont use it to reply to messages or anythin or take calls...but i find i like the health metrics they provide more...i also have been with fitbit since 2014 so its a long relationship with that brand...but it really depends... I do/like * I do work out almost everyday - mix bag of cardio, running, lifting, etc.. - **garmin bread and butter is activity tracking, its great! lots of detailed metrics and stats...i find i never go back and look at them though, i honestly think the fitbit and pixel watch approach more simple and satisfying yet providing just enough data for my use case...im sure hardcore marathoners and stuff appreciate the garmin more, but i indoor row, run indoor/outdoor, HIIT workouts and more...the fitbit data is cleaner and simpler for me...garmin has tons but i never dive into it further, nor do i find it actionable** * I can't hear calls coming in through the phone a lot of the times (mostly because of work), so I rely on the haptic feedback from my wrist. - **pixel watch wins here as its more tightly engrained in the android phone system** * I like to see SMS messages come in, very rarely I reply on watch. - **assuming you have android since your contemplating pixel watch...pixel watch will win in this hands down** * I like changing the watch face periodic - **i find the pixel watch much easier to use with more satisfying watch faces...garmin easily change faces but i am not a big fan of the faces, they give the data fine, but i prefer pixel** * oxygen sensor, and heart rate, ecg - **pixel watch will be better with this as it provides the data and metrics in a better view for you to follow and trend.** which did you choose?

Cyclist here - FR 255 has been great general watch and for most activities. For athletes - you need a sports watch than a smart watch IMHO. I gave my pixel 2 watch to my wife and then later upgraded to pixel 3 for her. I won't get one myself even though I have enough Google credits to make it super cheap. Battery life is terrible on smart watches with fancy screens. I charge mine while I shower and that's it. Goes multiple days even with short events on gps recorded. There is always something better, faster, shinier but this was the best value choice for me

I agree with u/FailOk251 . I would go with the Garmin 955. The sleep tracking may not be as good. But after years(and years) of wearing different watches for sleep tracking, they are not that different in terms of accuracy over the long-term. Also, I tried the PW3 for swimming and it doesn’t do a good job at all when it comes to feature set for swimming. I swim with a 955 and it’s very visible underwater. The buzz is more noticeable as well when it comes to alerts under water. Also, you have maps on the 955 which is really helpful for open water swimming. The PW 3 does non of that. It’s fine for running and maybe a nice activity tracker. But that is all. I was really disappointed when I tried it for swimMing. The other issue is accurate HR. The Garmin can do relatively good job with HR and if you want better, you can get a chest strap. The PW couldn’t even lock into HR. What I’ve come to peace with is this.… I wear the Garmin for my workouts and a smartwatch for other times. I have to admit, I hate the compromise. But here I am. Hope this helps a bit.

I gave my pixel watch 3 to my gran and got an Instinct 2X. I had the vivoactive 4 before that and liked it and THOUGHT I wanted more smartwatch features so got the pixel. The VA4 basically just had notifications and onboard music as "smart" features. But at the time I got the pixel thinking it's the logical upgrade i was feeling less enthused by all the tech stuff and was more and more switching off notifications and bluetooth and when I got for runs I typically have my phone anyways becuse in case there is an emergency of some sort, I want to be able to contact someone reliably, call and uber navigate with a full map etc... so also that covers having music. So the more I though about it the more I realised I literally just want it to record the exercises I do. I'm not gonna watch youtube on it, make calls or whatever "smart" features are supposed to be because all those things can be done better on my phone (which I carry anyways). I really liked the look of an instinct. reminds me of the G-shock and the oncee a month charging of the battery means it'll last years because it's going through abot 12 battery cycles in a whole year. In the end it's really up to you, look at what integration apple offers to the ecosystem, maye you like resuming playing music from your watch even if you're listening on your Mac or something but it's dependent on you. The stats I get are deeper than what I need so for me I still feel I can get more out of it. And maybe I'm just old school but the AW looks ugly to me, I'm gonna have it on my hand all day, may as well get something that looks good to me.

I've used the Pixel Watch 3 for the last year and upgraded to [Samsung Galaxy Watch 8](https://www.reviewni.com/product/B0F7QD4HSD) recently. Honestly Watch 8 just nails it! The new bezel design took me a second to warm up to, but honestly, it gives the watch a modern, unique vibe that stands out. Switching up watch bands is super easy (once you get the hang of the latch thing), plus you get way more watchface options and can really tweak backgrounds and fonts, which is a nerdy dream. The new “folders” system for tiles/apps is a game changer. It keeps everything way more organized than the Google Pixel, and you can customize the heck out of it. Health, Fitness, Basic and set your own categories, stick your most used apps wherever you want. Battery life’s solid too, I wore it all day and only used 10%. And it's comfy, looks slick, and charges up with a little more info on the screen now. Honestly, Samsung’s attention to detail and customization blows the Pixel Watch 3 out of the water.

I recently compared heart rate tracking between the **Pixel Watch 3 (45mm)** and the **Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025**. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Pixel Watch 3’s HR accuracy, so I decided to buy one and test it side by side with my GW Ultra during a **1-hour MAF training session** (focused only on HR tracking). Here’s what I noticed: * The **Pixel Watch 3** gave consistent and realistic readings. * The **Galaxy Watch Ultra** often deviated, sometimes spiking too much or even getting “stuck” for a few seconds before catching up with the PW3. In my opinion, for sports where heart rate tracking really matters, the GW Ultra doesn’t perform as well as the PW3. 👉 What do you all think? Anyone else had similar experiences? For me HR readings is important for sports because this is where the calculation of calories burned, cardio load, VO2 max reading started.

You're obviously not into sports, but more into fitness/wellness (that's not an insult, just subjective observation). For that I would recommend Google Pixel Watch 3. It (and all Fitbit, previous PW devices) beats all the devices/brands you mentioned in sleep tracking accuracy and I would say it's more accurate in HR tracking in general. Unfortunately, with Pixel Watch you can't use external chest strap for ultimate accuracy during sports, but it doesn't look like you'd like to do that anyway :) Polar has a very interesting Nightly Recharge metric which combines your sleep data with ANS data, but it won't give you any stress tracking throughout the day. Pixel devices have that but do research on your own as even though I still use old Fitbit device for sleep tracking (double checking :D) I'm not into stress tracking. At the same time Fitbit/Pixel had something like training readiness and when I tried that more than a year ago it was total bull\*\* If you think that you overtrain, have athlete level cardio load, then that's the only excuse to look into sports watches.

This describes my situation pretty well. I wasn't in a huge rush to leave Apple's ecosystem, necessarily, but I have been curious about the state of Android as I hadn't spent any time with it in years. The PW3 is good. The screen is nice and the battery life is good. The build is also really high quality. In a direct head to head against the Apple Watch Ultra 2 it holds its own but has flaws. The Tensor SOC has nothing on Apple Silicon in terms of every day performance. The Ultra 2 is fast on a whole other level. Interactions are never slow, the UI is totally fluid, and every aspect of the watch is ready to go at a moment's notice. Apps launch immediately, and the battery lasts me for days. And Apple's build quality and materials are second to none. I really like the PW3. I wear it quite a lot (and I happen to prefer Fitbit over Apple Health/Fitness). I think it will likely only improve, especially with Wear OS 6 on the way as well as Gemini.

Hi! I'm using a PW3 with the app swim.com on it. Gps is NOT good when swimming open water but in pools, it can count length (about 90% accuracy). It's still better than when I try to count length in my head 😂 Heart rate accuracy is.... Not that bad? It can give indication but it's not as precise as when not immersed. I have a small wrist (17 cm if I remember correctly) and the size (41 or 45) was a real question when I was chosing the model. I took the 45mm. I was used to wear small watches but the size of the PW3 has never been an issue. I don't think it's too big nor un-esthetic. I don't know the difference between PW3 and pw4. I tend not to buy the latest devices to save some €€. I'm not sure pw4 would be a major improvement vs PW3.

I love my PW3. It’s good enough for me. I lift weights and do VO2 max training on an indoor bike. I like tracking my steps as well and makes me move. The garmin was pretty much the same though it was able to connect to my bikes power meter (and so did my Apple Watch), but I don’t really care that much about that and can see the power on my bikes computer. It’s really what you want from it. Like are you a marathoner and crazy into fitness than Garmin is better. If you are still into fitness but don’t need to measure every single thing, then the pixel watch is good enough.

I moved from Fenix to PW3 because my $900 Fenix screen died. Garmin told me to go pound sand. PW has been totally fine for normal daily function. I never have any battery anxiety and I keep the screen on 24/7. A morning top up during showers is enough to keep it going. Keep in mind, Auto Screen off is only for when not tracking activity. If you are tracking a long run (Marathon/Ultra) screen stays on which sucks. I would not trust PW to track anything beyond 200-250 minutes (I know, extreme use case)

I own a wide variety of devices from Garmin, Amazfit, OnePlus, and my most recent acquisition is a Pixel Watch 3 45mm that I'm wearing now. It was a light day for me but the PW3 was unplugged at 11am and it's 2:05am now and I'm at 76% . On days when I'm actually being active, with standard settings and AOD off it can comfortably reach about 52 hours or so for me. The thing is, in my experience, that Wear OS provides a MUCH better user experience for everyone BUT hardcore athletes. With my Pixel 3 I can track workouts, I can consult a map, yadda yadda yadda. Yes, I can't hike the Appalachian trail with this thing but, let's be honest about who we are as a people.. Is it going to positively impact your life more if you CAN get near infinite battery life the once in a lifetime or three you actually run an ultra, or hike for a month? Or let's use my use-case for example as an older guy, would it be more impactful to have a device on your wrist and your partner is messaging you from work, and your grown kids are sending you memes and shit, and they're all sending you voice messages on Whatsapp. You can just go on about your evening; walking the dogs, playing some games, doing some chores and responding with text you type or swipe or transcribe on your watch using your voice? Maybe you go to the grocery store to buy some food and if you're using a Garmin good luck paying with your watch because no debit or credit card I have in the US supports Garmin Pay. If you're wearing an Amazfit I hope you live in parts of Asia or Europe because there's no support for Zepp Pay in America either. With my Wear OS watches anywhere I go I can pay with my watch. It's like EVERYTHING the Garmins or Amazfit COULD do, Wear OS can do better EXCEPT in the rare situation you're a special ops soldier stuck in the middle of some God-forsaken mission, or in some crazy militia out in Ohio, or any other of 100 other male fantasy lives you'll probably never have. Understanding that 1 person out of a million is gonna be stuck in the wilderness and it's their watch that saves them is the first step to freedom. Adventure watches have a place, and I own a lot of them, but I have to imagine that for most people it mainly supports the fantasy vision they have of themselves. More folks are gonna be Thomas from Accounts Payable than DC Rainmaker. I guess it depends on the life you live. If you're out there in the bush all the time and REALLY need to know your watch can last for weeks at the cost of a clunkier, more troublesome everyday user-experience, maybe a rugged adventure watch is the right move. I'm thinking about my Enduro 3 and T-Rex 3. They can get me through my day at the office, but it's just so much nicer having something with all the modern conveniences running smoothly and working like you'd want them to. If I ever hit that Appalachian trail, though, you better believe I'm packing my Enduro 3. And you can't beat that damn Garmin flashlight.

I've owned apple watch ultra 2, Garmin Epix pro 2, galaxy watch ultra, pixel watch 3 45mm. If you have a pixel phone the pixel watch works the best with your phone. Will you be running with your phone? Pixel watch has LTE and good battery life. GPS accuracy is decent but not the best. Garmin has the best GPS accuracy along with apple watch ultra but the Garmin UI leaves a lot to be desired and it doesn't have LTE so if you don't bring your phone you can't make an emergency call which I didn't like. If you're in the USA the pixel watches also have a sale. And they come with 2 years free data from Google Fi if bought on Google store. They can't make calls but they can text. And they can call 911. This is because it's a data only plan from Google Fi veruss getting a plan through your existing cell provider who may or may not offer free watch cellular service. Pixel watch 3 is my favorite watch for pixel phones. Apple watch for iPhones. The Garmin is nice but it's not a very smart watch. The battery life is insane though. Like only had to charge it once every few weeks which was cool.

Hey! Just chiming in about this as a long time Pixel Watch 1, 2 and 3 user debating on switching to the Garmin Venu 4. The Increase or Maintain options really only change the daily cardio load range, that's really it, so it's pretty much gimmicky. For example, if I have it on maintain, as long as I'm doing my normal routine, it keeps my cardio load for the day around the same range (depending on sleep, HRV, RHR, etc ...) but switching to "improve" upped my cardio load to the point of lunacy where I couldn't get there and would've possibly injured myself trying (I'm a runner). So, I just wanted you to know to not really pay that much attention to that feature as a big thing. That being said, there is a simplicity to Fitbit that I appreciate and while definitely nowhere near as deep as Garmin, or even Coros, it is extremely user friendly albeit sometimes broken (cause....Google being Google breaking things with updates in the background and taking months to fix them).

As a pixel phone user, I was also looking for what would be best a few months ago and ended up going with the pixel watch 3 but honestly a bit disappointed at the features. Sure it's got a lot of tech in the background that probably makes things you don't actually notice better but in terms of cool and useful features it falls short. I also hate that Fitbit locks so much info behind a paywall when all they're doing is making plots with your health metrics. Since they are your health metrics, you should have all the writes to it without having to download a complex spreadsheet from their server. Also, it's not very beneficial for progressive health if you have to pay a stupid ongoing amount for it when you've already paid heavily for the hardware.

Well his latest reviews still show the relative position of the pw3. The Pixel Watch 1 and Pixel Watch 3 do not use the same optical heart rate (HR) tracker. The original Pixel Watch has a single optical HR sensor. The Pixel Watch 3 features a "multi-path optical heart rate sensor." This is a significant upgrade that offers greater accuracy, especially during vigorous activities like running or high-intensity interval training (HIIT), as it uses multiple light paths to get a more reliable reading. I went from Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 44m to PW3 45 mm and I love it. Of course some features are lacking and locked behind the Fitbit premium but they don't make me regret it. Generally better, smother and prettier UI experience on the Pixel. I just never liked the One UI. And my phone seems to have less battery drain after the switch but that can be unrelated. I miss the body composition sensors but I always knew they weren't accurate anyway so no big deal. EKG and Pulse loss detection is locked behind a 22 year old mark so be aware of that. Fitbit doesn't have dark mode in their app but we talk about it for like 5 years now. The battery is amazing, and charging is better for me as the charger is a bit slimmer and has USB-C. I keep AOD on, something I wasn't able to do on GW4 as it drained the battery like a monster. Better integration with phone calls, Bluetooth switching for headphones and Google app updates their apps regularly in contrast to Samsung. That's it. It's worth it. I've had a bunch of watches -- currently on the PW3 (large) and previously a bunch of Ticwatches. The battery life on the Ticwatch was amazing, but the software was buggy and the updates were slow. Apart from a few issues around swim tracking, the Pixel Watch is amazing. I regularly get 36+ hours of battery life and I don't have any issues with going two days without charging. Another option is a fitbit. You get most of what you want, with better battery life, but less powerful notifications. Also -- PW and Fitbit both give you a daily update based on your sleep and blood oxygen, heart rate etc to give you a better idea of your state of health and readiness. So I don't check them all directly, but it does help. And the PW3 does have a loss of heartbeat detector so that if you faint, it will call emergency services (in a few countries right now)

The built in software for runners is very poor on the Pixel Watch. Even the free software from places like Strava aren't much better. If you want things like lap alerts and customizable faces that can be set up for interval training, you'll need to spend some cash on apps like SportWerks or Gear Tracker. Even then, they don't have the lap button mapped to the physical buttons, so you're always messing up your lap times. That said, it's pretty decent for easy runs and long runs. Personally, I just use the Pixel Watch for most runs, and pull the Garmin out whenever I'm on the track or doing intervals.

From an older Galaxy Watch? Yeah the Pixel Watch will be more accurate. From a Galaxy Watch 7 or 8? It will be roughly the same. GPS was an area of difference but the GW7 has been improved with updates and the GW8 is pretty much par with PW. For most cases any of the major smart watches like the GW, PW or even AW are close. So I wouldn't make your decision on that basis. Comparing the Galaxy Watch and Pixel Watch I'd look at what device you're pairing it with and the unique features each offers.

If you're a fitness focused person, I'd sadly never recommend a pixel watch. The hardware is great, but the experience is completely marred by the fitbit app. There's handfuls of bugs and completely dumb baffling decisions or feature that haven't been fixed or even touched in the past year of owning the watch, and I have zero faith in google at this point to ever fix or give enough of a shit about the app. I just had to spend an hour last night deleting '0' values out of my HRV history over the past year because they made the baffling decision to average those into your ranges and basically all my readiness and other readings have been almost completely useless because of it. I have a non-standard sleep schedule so it's a 50/50 crap shoot if I'll get a HRV reading in the first place since they won't pull a daytime reading, and each time I didn't, it would just average in a 0 and completely ruin any use the data was having. Then there's astoundingly simple things not fixed the past year like the calories out history(not the running daily dynamic total) never matching up properly between the food page and main pages, half the badges not working, edit buttons not working, and all kinds of other small issues that are baffling that google and their bottomless pocketbooks have never bothered to fix or improve. I saw there was some sort of redesign supposedly around the corner, but honestly it just looks like their attempt to push into AI trend as hard as they can, and I have very little hope they've fixed or improved the user experience in any meaningful way that actually ends up making a good user experience and useful, data-driven health insights. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills with the lack of shit talking I see about the fitbit app on here, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the users were more smartwatch focused and less health and metric focused. Fingers crossed it all gets sorted out though, as I'd really love to love the whole pixel watch experience all around.

You're in luck! I wrote all this down while testing for the last couple weeks. * No custom heart rate zones * Basic alerts/goals (heart rate, 1km lap distance, time etc only). It felt like you can do anything on Garmin. * One real data screen and not very customizable * Less readability on data screens * Activity starts by doing a countdown instead of a start/stop button irks me * Battery, obviously. Listening to downloads on LTE burns 20% per half hour for me. * No navigation. * No route builder. * If you're training by heart rate zone, there's a pop up warning to say if you're high or low but doesn't actually tell you what zone to be in on the data screen I think. When building workouts I've just had to remember what zone I put. Seems like a big oversight unless I'm missing something. * Running with AOD turned off is broken for me. The activity still tracks when you turn your wrist away but it kicks you back to the clockface instead of Fitbit. * GPS lock on is slower. Nitpicking though. * Garmin can handle playing audio cues + music at the same time with your phone + headphones * No LiveTrack * Edit more: No confirmation for ending an activity. With the end button right next to the lap, pause, and lock buttons, it feels super dicey to press anything on that screen. I'd be pissed if I ended an activity early. There's probably countless more but I haven't powered on my Garmin since I got my Pixel Watch. That being said, if you're a "run around at the park" once in awhile type of person, Fitbit should be enough. None of these are *must haves* but I look back on my Garmin very fondly. They do a lot of things right, not even fitness related.

The GPS on Pixel Watch is seriously bad. In one of my runs it went off by a mile or so mid-run and added some serious distance to my final stats. Of course none of the stats from that run were useful at that point and I haven't trusted it since... Lifting it usually gets my heart rate wrong. Calories burned is a pure guessing game. It's a decent fitness device for someone starting their fitness journey. But I would never recommend it to someone serious about growth and maintenance.

I got mine about 2 months ago. I've gone from a Pixel watch, to an Instinct 2 to the X1. When I got it I was looking at the Fenix, Epix range, but just came away feeling that they were simply too bulky. Then I went back to a local streo for another look and by chance saw a couple of boxed X1s in the Garmin display cabinet, they weren't on display and the staff didn't want to open one up for me to take a look. I hung around a bit and read the DC Rainmaker review in the store and just bought it on the spur of the moment. So light! I use the LED torch much more than I though I would. The battery life is fine, I plug it in when I shower and that's it. Sure, it does't look like I've got half a kg of apocalypse-proof steel strapped to my wrist - and some might think it looks like a $50 Apple knockoff from Temu - but in my opinion, it's still one the best tech purchases I've made. I love it.

Some of it depends on your personality. I had a Pixel watch and realised I was entirely unsuited to a watch that required daily charging. I hated having to do that. Have a Venu 3S now and charge it once a week or so which suits me much much better. I'm only back to running a few months and it's just for enjoyment and fitness so don't track many runs, but the Garmin tracking is excellent. I use the more health and wellness features like steps/body battery/sleep score/HRV etc all the time and find them good. I know people don't rate the sleep score that much, but I'm not expecting sleep lab accuracy - just good enough. I don't find it that useful for monitoring strength workouts, but I suppose I'm old school with them anyway. I just turn up and do them, trying to add a bit more weight when I can etc.

I am from India, used whoop for a year when the 4.0 launched. Post that I have used a Garmin, a coros, a pixel watch, a chest strap and an apple watch as well. Now I am back on whoop. It depends on one's goals actually. The apple watch is good at general tracking. The whole rings system is a good daily motivator and social aspect pushes one to achieve daily/weekly/monthly goals. The strength training part was usually an overestimate, so not much of a use unless a third party app is used. Sleep tracking was a bit hard for me cause of the comfort as well as battery/charging issues. Coros and Garmin were good for running and cardio tracking. The battery life was so good. The sleep and recovery part felt really bad on both. I used it mainly to maintain zone 2 heart beat during my cardio sessions. I returned to whoop because it was the one that actually helped me improve my sleep, my daily intensity and habits. Also the trends and data felt more usable than every other wearable. Its the best if you like optimising things based on data. With whoop 5.0/MG the battery is finally really good, the comfort for sleeping is the still the best. Yes, the tracking is sometimes off during upper body workout days, for which I used a bicep band when I was on 4.0. But, I currently only have the wrist version for the MG, so yeah it sucks sometimes but I guess I am fine. The pace of aging, whoop age, bp etc feel like a gimmick and mostly derived from the trends and data already available previously. I think 5.0 peak is good enough. I wish I could downgrade to peak, but they are not letting me do that. The only upgrade of 5.0/MG over the 4.0 is the battery life imo. Still I find whoop to be the best for my current needs. Its really good with sleep tracking and recovery estimates. Also, the RHR and Vo2max trends help me set goals. Plus it lets me wear my wrist watches.

My Review from a Fitness Perspective; I've worked in Fitness since 2016.    Been a loyal fitbit fan since long before that.    I'm also a keen runner.     After my old Fitbit Versa 3's battery life took a turn for the worst I took the plunge and purchased a Google Pixel 3. I've always had the benefit while sprinting on treadmills of using the app and my phone to constantly monitor mg heart rate in real time.    With the Pixel 3 so called fitness tracker ironically marketed at this specific market this feature has now vanished with users only able to monitor their heart rate on the watch itself To me this is a massive research and development epic FAIL and a massive backwards step.    How does someone sprinting on a treadmill using their arms to power through a sprint check the face of their fitness tracker? I raised with Google pIxel watch  customer support who confirmed that this feature has indeed been removed with no declared intention to reinstate. Google can't be taken seriously now as a true fitness tracker brand.    To me as a fitness tracker Google Pixel is next to useless with massive research and development gaffs such as this.    The reviews for the latest pixel 3 watch are extremely good.  It doesn't help that most of the reviews are carried out by Tech heads and not fitness professionals.    For anyone serious about fitness and particularly runners  give Google Pixel brand a miss.    Google have trashed Fitbits previous reputation for this demographic.

I was in a similar boat, I came from the Pixel watch to the Garmin umbrella. I didn't have set tracking (or didn't use it) on my Pixel. I like being able to track working vs resting time, logging # of reps/weight lifted etc. it's quick and easy after each set. The rep counter is alright. You can also pre-program workouts into your app and send them to your watch for the watch to guide you. I went with the Venu 3 as it's the smartest watch Garmin makes. I describe it as a fitness watch with some smart features whereas Apple/Google are smart watches with some fitness features. The tipping point for me was Pixel watch didn't allow a heart rate monitor to be connected to it. Battery life is about 7-8 days depending on activity level and GPS usage.

I just went from the charge 5 to a pixel watch and I honestly kind of hate the pixel watch. It's very intrusive out of the box and battery life just sucks. I have had to shut off so many notifications. Even after shutting off all notifications except for messages and chat and setting the vibration to minimum and audible notifications to mute with only tap to turn on the screen I get less than 2 day battery life (36 hours tops) & it's brand new. Fitbit Integration is poor as well way less settings in the app. The heart rate monitor works as good I wore both for a while and they were exactly the same. The only points I give the pixel watch for are I can wear it on my heavily tattooed arm and still have HR work. I only really want activity and Heart rate tracking. The rest I am happy with using my phone for. The Pixel watch does so much stuff I don't really care about and it's costing me too much battery time. I have another week in my return window and currently I am leaning on sending it back.

I also don't remember any kind of cardio load feature though they finally added some recovery tracking with vascular load.

Galaxy Watch probably has the most of what a WearOS watch can offer but a fair bit of features are Samsung exclusive. Pixel Watches I believe offer mostly the same with a little less bells and whistles than a galaxy watch but with better health features with fitbit integration that isn't locked to pixels. Also looks more fashionable IMO. Blends with my outfits when using a stylish watch band. Just looks like a watch instead of a smart watch. One plus I don't know too much about other than it has actual battery life that lasts days. I feel like it would be the defacto best one but I haven't heard many people speak on it.

honestly the calorie numbers on my Pixel watch always felt like an optimistic guess - not super reliable. after bouncing between an Apple Watch, Fitbit and now the Pixel watch 2, I've realised they're all basically guesstimating based on heart rate. the Pixel is a slick smartwatch with decent sensors, but its health algorithms are very basic. I ended up cross-checking against my own nutrition tracker (the NutriScan App) and weight trends and the Pixel was off by 200-300 calories most days. it's fine for seeing whether you've moved more than usual, but if you're trying to hit a specific deficit it shouldn't be your only data point. if you want more accuracy I'd pair it with a chest strap for workouts or just use it as a rough gauge and let your weekly weight change tell you the truth.

This is not strictly true. Some watches get traditional water resistance watch ratings too. For example my pixel watch is rated IP68 and "water resistant 50m" which makes it suitable for light swimming, but for sport and recreational swimming the 10 atm/100m standard is recommended. So in short if you swim a few times a year you are fine with a rating like this, if you swim more often you might want to look into a better rating.

I have never used a Garmin watch, have been interested but only know the Pixel watch side. To answer some questions, yes pixel watch has a treadmill mode that I use quite often, and it works well. Total distance can be off because it's guessing but good for what it has. I also use it to track my cycling and love that you can change displays as i normally only care about heart rate, speed and distance when riding. Also swimming is no issue, I believe they are also releasing 20+ new workouts (including pickleball) with the next update. I'm planning on sticking with the pixel watch mostly because of LTE and don't need my phone but can still message and call if needed, that and I'm used to pixel/Fitbit, but am very interested in everything Garmin offers as well

Yeah I bought the watch about a week and a half or two weeks ago, and I actually really really liked it at first. Looks great, feels great, battery life is INSANELY good, and the UI is actually much faster and smoother than WearOS ... Unfortunately I ran into the same problems as you. Some notifications on some apps only work when they want to, and sometimes they just don't work at all. It also wasn't a good sign that they had a server error within the first week of owning it, which resulted in me and most other people basically having to reset it and start it up all over again. It's just not polished enough, so I went back to my pixel watch. The unfortunate part is that I can't even return it, because it was made so cheaply that it already has a scratch on the crown resulting in the black paint peeling completely off. I got the Phone 2 Pro on the same day, and my experience is the complete opposite. I'm still blown Away that performs better than my pixel 9. Sure the camera isn't as great but it's still acceptable. Everything else on it is better I will say though, that for 60 or $70, it's still worth it. You can't expect much for that price. And they do pack in a lot of things that do work

I don't think any serious runner would. That doesn't mean the Pixel Watch is a bad watch. I wore one every day for over a year. So, I'm going to say this, and then mostly leave it here. I was a happy Pixel Watch user until about 4 months ago. Loved that watch. But my wife and I both decided that we wanted to improve our overall fitness and health, and one of the things we talked about was using a smarwatch/fitness device as part of "pushing" each other. Problem is she's on an iPhone and I'm on a Pixel. So options are limited on good devices that have social/friend functionality that is cross platform. So, I agreed to switch from my Pixel Watch to a Garmin watch so we could both be on the same platform and use those social features. In the 4 months since, I fully see where the Garmin is not as good as a Pixel Watch. there are things it does not do nearly as well. No sane person would argue that a Garmin is as good or better at certain functions than a Pixel Watch. However, it does other things \*way\* better. But there was functionality that I gave up going from my Pixel Watch to a Garmin. That's a long preamble to get to this: you are saying that the Garmins are not capable of doing certain things, which is incorrect. I'm not telling you the Garmin is as good as or better than a WearOS or WatchOS device. But you are misrepresenting the capabilities by saying they can't do them. They don't do certain things as well. There are certain things they cannot do. But you're trying to say that a Garmin is no better or worse than a $50 fitness band which is objectively false.

If you are used to 10+ days of battery life there is absolutely nothing you can do but accept that you'll need to charge a pixel watch every day. Yes, there are tweaks you can make, yes, there are things you can do to extend battery life. But we're talking 36 hours to 48 hours, etc. There's nothing you can do to approach what is even the low end of a Garmin watch.

I am just realizing how bad the Samsung watches are. Drains battery without explanation... Charges way too slow. I´m right now considering sending back the Galaxy watch.8 classic and unfortunately the fold with it :( My Apple Watch Series 7 (!!!) charges much faster and is more reliable that the Watch 8 classic. Last night I wore both to sleep. I lost 40% on the galaxy and 15% on the apple. Battery stats give me no sign on what it could be. I have had better nights with the galaxy watch with 15-20% drain. (Even when using routines of display turning off going to power saving mode etc.) The Pixel Watch holds the charge better. But in general there's a LOT to love with the Fold 7! It's beautiful and works very well. The watches however remind me of the old days when the phones software was so buggy, with draining apps. Getting anxiety never knowing what will drain the batter. I have detailed my experience here [https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/1nc17gq/time\_for\_reflection\_of\_the\_past\_month\_iphone\_16/](https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/1nc17gq/time_for_reflection_of_the_past_month_iphone_16/) I´m at the point where I say I love the phone even with little annoyances I was able to put up with. But taking the whole ecosystem into consideration... It's just too draining and you have to always see where the issue lies etc. I want it to just work and not play around all settings and witch hunt the battery culprits..
