The gbx 100 is so much better/cooler than the GBD 200 bc it looks nicer with the metal bezel, and softer more breathable band for designed to withstand sweat and saltwater (it's a surfer watch). Also has cooler surfer related menus with nifty graphics and is also MiP display. It's a bit more expensive tho but well worth it imo just for the comfort and looks.
I have both. Bought the GBD200 when I didn’t know the GBX100 existed. Was looking for a watch with a tide function and found the 100. They are very similar watches except for the moon/tide feature. The 100 is a much nicer looking watch for day to day wear too. If I knew of it before 200 I wouldn’t have the 200
The first one-GBD-200 is better. The screen is more flush with the case and has a slightly better viewing perspective. Unless you live near the beach and surf, you won't use the Tide function of the GBX-100. A positive MIP version is coming out this month. I have the GBX 100 and it’s MIP display is awesome , I like the step counter and and the sunrise sunset screen is nice to have , only con is when you start a workout timer it takes longer then it should to get back back to the regular time keeping mode . Having the notifications is a pretty nice bonus , with that said I turned the notifications off on mine
The GBX-100 is far superior when it comes to airflow within the band, the top part of the band has what I like to call “sweat wicking” features due to the separation in between the band, I’ve done a 30km run before wearing the GBX-100 and it wears like a dream, also it’s tougher in the gym so you can have less worries about the surface scraping on weights and what not due to the metal bezel.
True that those g-shocks won't have all the different training modes. I have the GBX-100 and it is fine for walking/running, will give pace and distance. Can also link to phone GPS and can view map afterwards. However apart from the look, it also has good durability and battery life . It can be worn as a normal watch. I guess ultimately those are aimed at different segment.
I use a casio gshock smart watch to track my workouts. It's quite banged up now but it's designed to take hits.
