I wear my garmin d2 all day. Works great for fitness and everyday. Works great for scuba! Has very nice scuba screens, warnings, stops etc. also has very nice built in compass. The only thing it doesn’t have is integrated air, but for $700 it rocks. My wife this weekend said she’s done with her dedicated scuba computer and wants my watch.

If you are a multi athlete, then go for Fenix 8. If you run a couple of times a week and go to the gym once or twice, basically any Garmin watch between 300£ and 500£ will do. But since you've said you want the best, I truly recommend fenix8. I've owned my 51mm amoled sapphire for just over one year and I wouldn't change it for anything else. 👊🏻🧔🏻‍♂️

I'm a subscriber to the endurance training platform intervals.icu. Every morning, I use a Shortcut to run a questionnaire in which I enter my Vitals heart rate and then a survey of subjective recovery metrics: sleep quality, mood, stress, soreness, motivation, injury, and notes. The only numerical value is my Vitals HR, which represents the early morning, just-before-waking heart rate. This is by far a better predictor of my training readiness and health than any numerical value spat out by any algorithm I've ever tried. It's a much better way to track my long-term health context. I still have a Garmin but I ignore everything except Body Battery, which I actually do think does a great job of capturing my sleep quality and training status. If you listen to top endurance coaches, they don't use any of the numerical, algorithmic values from any devices, other than maybe resting heart rate. What they use is conversations with athletes, questionnaires, and whether the athletes have been adhering to their training schedule.

Agree. The difference in resolution is especially notable when using it in cities. The AMOLED shows more road and side street detail than the MIP.

Apple has more features, particularly if you pay for pro apps. I use a Garmin, it tracks my score, shows distance to greens and hazards, I can use it for running/sleep/gym and the battery lasts days. I wouldn’t change.

Yes, they’ll basically have whatever the phone app does. Garmin stats are the basic ones. (Penalties, GIR, FIR, Putts). No strokes gained is the biggest omission really. Can track shot distances. Keep score. Has distances to greens and hazards. Also different models will have reduced features, the Fenix are full featured of what’s offered in the Garmin range. Doesn’t really bother me though, and I like the Garmin for other sports.
