Yesss. The Fenix line has SCUBA capabilities now. The only reason you would want the Descent series now is if you need wireless capability. If you want something cheaper and dont need the latest and greatest .... and if you dont mind the G-Shock like looks and just need basic openwater functions... the G1 Descent is still a good option.

I am happy with my Garmin Descent G1. I use it for freediving, SCUBA, hiking, running, cycling, walking and other shenanigans. I have only used it for Air in SCUBA. Others might disagree with me but I would still have a dedicated dive computer aside from a smartwatch. For SCUBA purposes, I mainly use my Descent G1 for logging purposes and surface navigation. There is the newer Descent G2 now but it comes with a OLED screen which I dont like because battery life is shorter and it blinds me at night.

I have the same and never found it too small

Yes, I know. Many people are saying might be too small for others, but not for themselves. I think that’s just because one YouTuber once mentioned it. It’s totally fine, if you are not halfblind in my opinion. :)

The only solar enabled dive watches are the Descent G1 Solar and the Fenix 8 solar watches. There's a Descent G2 but it has an amoled screen.

You can get a new Garmin Descent G1 for like $400, maybe less. Great dive watch overall.

Even though I tend to agree to some extent, I've been using a Garmin descent G1 for a couple of months now and I'm super happy with it. I work at a dive centre so I dive every day and it has been very reliable. It feels more like a dive computer that ends up working as an activity tracker rather than the other way around.

I work at a dive centre so I dive every day, so I was looking for a computer that could double as a smart watch as I'm used to having one and that way I wouldn't have to switch between the two every day. I got a Garmin descent G1 a couple of months ago and I'm super happy with it. It feels more like a diving computer that you can use as a smart watch rather than the other way around, and I got it for 400€, which was a steal for all of the features it has.

I like mine a lot, was looking for a second (redundant). Good sales happen in November if you can wait!

I am completely with you on this. My husband and I have both worn the Garmin Descent G1 every day since may. Charge lasts three weeks, even after logging several dives. And I also use it to track my golf shots. Incredible watch. Also, through BCBS insurance (and some others I’m sure) I was able to get a 20% off coupon.

Yeah but the descent g1 I use (mainly for scuba) sucks at auto detecting reps so I had to turn it off. May be an issue with my model but seems to be an issue other peripheral have.

I switched to Garmin (Descent G1) after the touchscreen stopped working on my Sense 2 after swimming in a sea water pool. The screen isn't as fancy but, but that's the only issue I have.

I have a Garmin descent G1. I use it 95% for hiking/running, and 5% for freediving/scuba diving. Excellent sport watch with awesome underwater capabilities. Though the screen might be too small if you only use it underwater.

After owning several Suunto dive computers, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. They are fine computers but they’re overly conservative and their custom service is atrocious. They also had several hardware issues with some of their console computers that left a bad taste in my mouth. For what you’re looking for, the Garmin Descent product line would be a better match.

Second the Garmin Descent series. I daily-wear it and use it for diving, running, cycling, golf, and health tracking. The air integration is superb. Battery life blows all other smart watches out of the water - up to 24 days between recharges.

Plastic? Okay you’ve never used a good Garmin. They’re all saphire glass with titanium lol. Apple Watches lose roughly 6-8% from tracking sleep (lol). My Garmin solar doesn’t even use 2% daily.

Depending on the types of weights you utilise in your training, you may want to consider a Garmin with Sapphire Glass. It's pretty much bulletproof (I have hit mine with a 24kg kettlebell more times than I care to mention). That said the Venue range is great if you are not juggling kettlebells.

Garmin - They have a lot of watches at different price points. There is built-in GPS and the battery lasts for several days, unlike a smart watch that you typically need to charge every night. The Garmin app easily syncs with other fitness apps, if that's important to you. If you have a smaller wrist, go for the "S" models that will look and fit better.
