Have a Fenix 7 Pro solar. It's fantastic for the hills. Managed a good deal via Amazon of £400 a few months ago.

Had a 265, moved to a 47mm Fenix 7 Pro because I wanted full mapping since I started trail running and MIP display and didn't care about potential new features. Yes, the Fenix units weigh more, but a good chunk of that weight comes from the stock chonky silicone straps. The difference between case-only on my kitchen scale was \~10-13g if I remember correctly. When running, I definitely noticed the additional swing weight on my wrist with the F7 on stock silicone, but don't really notice it now that I have it on a nylon band.

💯 I waited to upgrade my 6s Pro, which was seeing significant battery decline, until the fenix 8 came out. No 8s with MIP, max battery life of like four days?? Ended up buying a 7s Pro at a significant discount and it’s drastically better than the 42mm version of the 8.

I bought last year Fenix 7S Pro, the 8 was 40% more expensive even with the lowest price available online and added discounts.

Fenix 7S Pro as the 42 mm case is perfect for me and has all the sports functions such as all accurate sensors and the premium built quality. Also the price as with the discounts went okay otherwise wanted Fenix 8 43mm!

For sports the best is Fenix probably not the newest ones but for example 7 Pro

I have the same and it's bulky AF. I still love it, but it's thicc. Forerunners are much flatter and sit better

You can search for offers on Fenix 7S pro. It is relatively compact for its features. It will save you money by not needing to upgrade in the near future as you increase your activities. Garmin will encourage you/force you to move frequently and increase your VO2 Max. 😁

If you are ok with non Apple Ecosystem Integration, bugs in every new firmwares, stutters in UI and so slow topomaps, the Garmin Fenix 8 is a good watch. I just couldn't stand the stutters in UI just by browsing glances and the slow rendering of Topomaps that kept me waiting in the middle of my trek, so I sold my Fenix 8 and bought a FR255 for marathon training. With the remaining money, I bought an AWU3. The Bevel app is now free and I bought the Workoutdoors app. Now I'm not expecting much from the FR255 (use it just for training but it excels in its price) and the AWU3 is lightning fast compared with the Fenix 8. The speakers and mic are also wonderful unlike with the Fenix 8. I can navigate using the Workoutdoors app or the Apple maps. If you have the money to spend, stay with the 2. If not, sell the Fenix and buy a cheaper Garmin that will suffice with your training program. Fenix 8 is a beautiful watch but for me it was not worth the price unfortunately. Good luck!

I agree. The Fenix 7 Pro for around 400€ is the one to buy right now than the 1k€ flagship which underperforms because of lags. Hope the Fenix 9 to have an upgraded processor. It’s an instant buy for me.

I just got a 7s pro last month (I’m a MIP fan) bc I got serious with fitness and in 2025, it’s still a very relevant and great watch.
