If I'm not active my PW3 45mm lasts me 2-2.5 days. If I use the GPS a lot it's more like 1.5 days, all of that using AOD.
I have a physical job so I'm somewhat active. My Pixel Watch 3 45mm can last 48h with AOD if I don't workout or 36h if I do some workout/jogging after work. Do you have the PW3 41mm?
My new 45MM PW4 came off the charger (after applying the OS update) last night around 7PM. I have always on display on, tracked a one hour spinning workout, and I am sitting at 74%. I came from the 45MM PW3, which was getting me almost 2 days from a full charge (more like 40 hours), so I am very curious to see how this goes over the next few weeks.
I'm feeling lost choosing a smartwatch. I use it 90% of the time for daily health tracking. A few weeks ago, I bought a Pixel Watch 3 because I really liked its design and build quality. Also, most reviews mentioned it as one of the most accurate options in its price range. However, after using it for a few weeks, I feel a bit underwhelmed. The readings aren't always accurate, steps are often overcounted, and sleep tracking doesn't feel very reliable or realistic. So I started looking back at Garmin, hesitating between the Venu 3 and the Instinct 3. That said, after watching some reviews, I still can’t tell if the health tracking is actually more accurate than on the Pixel Watch. Also, it seems like Garmin’s interface is less smooth and user-friendly compared to Google’s Wear OS. I know both are very different from the Pixel Watch, especially in terms of smart features, but it feels like there's no real compromise on the market that nails both multimedia and accurate health tracking. I'd really appreciate any thoughts or advice :)
30 hours of battery life! These guys are getting WAY ahead of the competition here with this release! /s (For context, I am wearing a PW 3 45mm LTE right now and the battery life is just "fine" and never groundbreaking. The OnePlus Watch 3 that runs the same version of Wear OS can go for DAYS)
I agree about the difference in the health sensors and that was one of the reasons why I ultimately have the Pixel Watch on my wrist right now. I also wanted LTE and the OnePlus does not offer that here in the states. I did buy the OnePlus watch and tested it for about 2 weeks before I returned it back to them and so I feel like I have a pretty good idea of how that watch operates. I was using a 3rd party watch face the whole time and I had AOD always on except for the auto sleep mode. I could *easily* go from a Friday morning to almost Tuesday morning with that setup. I was wearing a Whoop strap at that time and so I changed the Continuous HR monitoring to the Automatic Mode. *** The other REALLY big difference, and I've tested this on many Android watches, is the Raise to Wake feature - no matter if you have the AOD on or off, that feature adds to the battery drain because the accelerometer is constantly watching to see if it needs to activate the screen. If you can turn it off, on any watch, you will see a marketed increase in battery life. *** I wear my PW 3 with the AOD set to On, except for during sleep, and I can get about ~2 days max. Because PW uses a proprietary cable I cannot leave for a long weekend with my watch and not have to also take its proprietary charging cable along with me. From a purely battery standpoint - I could leave for a long weekend with the OnePlus watch and not even have to think about taking it's charging cable with me. That may seem like a small thing but I really liked that a lot about that watch. And if you did somehow manage to drain the majority of the battery you could switch it to its low power mode OS and it would easily last for 5 days more which is incredible.
OP, I know you are likely an Android user, I am as well, but I'm always looking at what else is out there as technology as a whole interest me. If you watch the videos from The Quantified Scientist on YouTube, the Pixel Watches are of course up there with his measure of data accuracy. Time and time again though the one that stands out above the pack seems to be the Apple watches and their heart rate sensor. Have you ever looked into an Apple Watch? There is a very popular third party app called Athlytic which can give an approximation of VO2 max. I've read time and again that the app gives a very much Whoop like experience. For context and whatever this is worth I'm currently wearing a Pixel Watch 3 45mm LTE and an Oura Ring 4 as well. I'm just fascinated by tech and how it can help improve our lives I'm just not as dialed in to my fitness currently as you are.
I upgraded to a PW3 45mm from a PW2 at the google store, Had the $100 off and $35 trade in credit for the 2. Didnt want to get a new charger if I went to the 4. So far have been happy with the larger size and battery.
I moved from Garmin epix pro gen 2 to pw3, sadly neither is perfect. Pw3 has much better health stats and sleeping tracking. Has more apps to download and much better notifications and other "smart# features Garmin was better for tracking outdoor sports, much better battery and handy light. For my use case I prefer pixel but it is a personal choice .
I guess that It always depends on what you are doing with the watch : My PW3 45mm is at 14% after 70 hours
I find it's better to get what brand you're using with its correct brand. My galaxy watch 5 Pro did not work with my Pixel 9 well at all. Main reason was that no matter what I did, factory resets etc, I just could not get notifications to work at all. Also some fitness stuff and sensors only work with the right brand. So I got a Pixel Watch 3 45mm and it works perfectly. It's also much smoother and the software is a lot better than my galaxy watch. Only downside is that you have to pay for Fitbit premium otherwise free version is perfectly fine.
Yeah get a Pixel Watch 3 and you'll be much happier.
