I bought the band. It would not pair with the app. Called for support. Message said they do not answer the phone because of too much spam but asked me to leave a message. Did not receive a call after 1 week waiting. Went to their live chat and asked for help, they responded a day later. Sent an email, they responded two days later. I asked for the process to return and they wanted me me to pay for shipping unless they determined it was defective. I said OK the product doesn't pair or have the lights on the band like the app says. They set me an email after I followed up asking for help again only to send me the same process referenced in the app. I asked for yelp again, no answer. It going on a week now. I would not buy from these folks. They seem to be understaffed or overwelmed.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I have for 20 days now and is a piece of garbage. Battery life is terrible, disconnects from Bluetooth constantly and has to be reconnected manually, does not record anything while disconnected. No low battery warning so u have to guess how much battery is left. When checking activity during and after workouts it is like nothing happen. I workout 5 days per week and have a very active lifestyle and it describes me as a couch potato, it actually say there is big discrepancy between my excellent body composition and extremely sedentary life style. It has created caos in my Hume scale.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band thoughts after WHOOP ->I bought it and been wearing it consistently for the last 20 days and it is a waist of time and money. It always disconnects from Bluetooth, and while disconnected it does not record anything, battery life is terrible and you don’t get low battery notification or anything, the app cannot find the band many times even when it is connected to the phone via Bluetooth. So far there is nothing good to say about this band. Whatever reputation the Hume scale is creating this band is destroying. Don’t buy this, save time, money and many future headaches
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->First day I am unimpressed. The only way I could connect the device to the phone was by reading reddit comments. Wasted an hour of my time...Customer service is only email. And it can take up to 48 hours. Neither the app or the instructions tell you that to turn it on you just press the button quickly once, if you hold it down it just turns off. Finally figured that out on my own after some frustrating trial and error. But then it says if it won't connect try holding down the button to make sure it is pairing and, of course, it just turns it off. Does anyone even review the instructions and FAQs? Also, find it interesting that the app says, "Hold the band close to your phone and it will automatically connect." The app instructions instead should say, 1. Make sure Bluetooth is on. 2. Make sure your app permissions for location, physical activity and notifications are on. 3. Now let's search... Seems like they just released the app and website instructions before they were fine tuned. (Sort of like a Sonos type of snafu.) Doesn't give me any faith that this device and app are trustworthy. Instead I get the feeling that they dont know what they are doing, that they dont have their sh!t together yet, but just couldn't wait to make money from customers without being concerned about the quality of customer experience. We'll see. But right off the bat, I feel like I paid a lot of money for a toy. Day 2: I got an email answer to one of my questions. Somewhere I read "you should wear the band slightly above the wrist bone." I had to ask them what they mean by "above the wrist bone" because there was no image or diagram. They gave me a long answer summarized as they mean between the wrist bone and the hand "like the photo shown here". The photo shows it on the arm just BELOW the wrist bone according to what they said "above the wrist bone" means, in other words, the instructions SHOULD say, "wear it on your arm close to your wrist". Geez Louise!! They either have no idea where and what the wrist bone is, or they dont speak english well and get above and below mixed up, or there is no human answering the email. I just want to wear it properly so it works properly. Also, I checked what it said about my sleep and it said excellent. However, our dog woke me up several times and I had trouble going back to sleep after one of them so just laid there for about 45 minutes. (When coyotes are in the neighborhood, our dog reacts.) Still leaning towards this being just an expensive toy.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I wouldn't spend the money, I have the band and I have charged it 4 times in the last 14 days....also the directions on how to are minimal, there is a button on the side that I still don't know what it does. run the other direction. I do have the scale and I like it, which is why I bought the band....might have been a mistake.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->Excellent find! I bought the band back in May, got it in June, and have been giving it side eye since day 1. The numbers rarely make sense (and hard-to-find or zero documentation to explain things), the battery life is a joke, and how its data relates back to the grand scheme of things on the main page in app is 100% suspect. For example, I've done numerous 45 minute HIIT sessions on an stationary bike where, basically dying and the heart zone minutes have yet to reflect the activity, despite the band page clearly showing a heart rate in the 140-160 range. And the sleep numbers from the band page and the home page never match either, or provide any explanation why. Like others have experienced, questions to customer support remain unanswered. I've also had the scale for a while and the numbers sorta match what I've seen on an older Tanita MC580 (body composition scale at a dietitian's office). Its reasonable accurateness inspired me to get the band. I feel duped at this point...
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->Trying to get a refund. Lost connection after 2 days, and there's no way for the love of god to reconnect. Also, it's just a 8x times more expensive version of this j2208a band. Hume is a scam company.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->Real person here- bought both scale & band. Have InBody H30 wanted one to look at each body part. Still awaiting scale. Thus far impressed w band accuracy - am in healthcare and meets expectations. Do agree app hopefully will be better as is limited thus far however still in my first week.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->been testing wearables for work and the illness prediction stuff is legit interesting. most devices miss early stage immune responses but metabolic tracking catches it because your cellular energy drops before symptoms appear. hume's algorithm seems pretty dialed in for this, probably because they focus specifically on metabolic markers vs trying to do everything
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band thoughts after WHOOP ->I got this email too, and I guess we saw the same AI-voiced review 😅 I actually went to double check all the info because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t just BS... so far, it looks pretty legit. It must be some a beta tester or similar. Honestly, it seems pretty clever how they’re planning to integrate the sleep and heart data from the Hume Band with all the health metrics from the Body Pod. I was looking for a product like this, if it works as promised, that combo could be super useful. I have the scale for some time now and I'm really happy about it. I ended up pre ordering the band and used a discount code I found "myreviewabout" saved me 20%. Not sure how long it’ll work, but figured I’d share it here in case it helps someone. Worst case, if it doesn’t live up to expectations, I’ll just return it... I’m also kind of a tech nerd, so I’ll be testing it as soon as it lands. Will drop an update once I get it!
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I asked them: Here is the main part of the reply: The Hume Band collects the following core health metrics: * Heart rate * Heart Rate Variability (HRV) * Blood Oxygen (SpO₂) * Sleep stages * Strain and recovery tracking * Sleep quality and debt measurements From this data, the Hume app generates: * Daily Metabolic Capacity score * Cardiovascular Health Score * Metabolic Momentum score * Basic “My Day” guidance * Standard recommendations Premium subscribers also gain access to: * Detailed cardiovascular health breakdowns * Comprehensive Metabolic Momentum Reports * Long-term Metabolic Trajectory projections * Physiological Age calculations * Pro.f AI Discovery experiments * Advanced My Day optimization tools * Extended historical data and trend analysis * Richer, more personalized AI communications
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I have the Hume BodyPod scale and it seems OK. I'm tempted to get the band for better integration of data...this conversation has me spooked about this company. It seems that Hume licensed some Chinese product and their expertise is a slick and very aggressive marketing company with little to no customer service. As my Apple watch has all the same capabilities, does anyone know if their is an App that can use the AW data and provide added value for overall fitness and health trajectories?
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I read your review a couple of days ago as I am also having trouble with my hume band. Same sleep tracking issue. I just took mine off with pretty much no intention of wearing it anymore. I don't think that the body pod that I previously purchased is very accurate either. It gets the weight number, but I think all the body fat percent is inaccurate. I am in the 30 day return window but I hear that can be difficult. I wish I never bought any of it. They really took me for a ride. At least I am stopping my BF from buying one.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->The reviews definitely look AI generated, but as someone that likes new tech and data, I decided to purchase one today. I have used Whoop for a year, and I am currently using an Apple Watch Ultra with the Bevel app. I also will double-wrist my AW Ultra and my Garmin Forerunner 265. The Hume Band looks like an alternative to Whoop with a similar upfront cost. The biggest concern I have is the app layout. With the premium app subscription at $99/yr or $15/mo, I hope there will be frequent updates in how they display the data that the Hume Band collects to make the data easy to understand and some practical insights on what to do based on the data. And hopefully the integration with the scale grows over time. The app will make or break the Hume Band as a product.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I created an unboxing and review post here if you want to check it out: https://www.reddit.com/user/RunEmergency6547/comments/1lgco9n/hume_health_band_unboxing_and_preliminary_thoughts/
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I stopped wearing it last week because the issues with sleep tracking were annoying me too much and affecting my health score negatively in the app. Have been enjoying the Amazfit Helio strap more. It is currently my strap of choice.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->Make sure you have the most recent version of the Hume app downloaded. It was updated on June 23rd to fix some bugs in IOS. Make sure that the device is on (if you push the button on the side, it should flash with a green light). If it doesn’t do that, you can hold the button for about 10 seconds to restart the device. Also make sure it is fully charged.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->Do you see a ‘band’ tab at the bottom of the app like in this photo? It was on the Band tab where I connected the band https://preview.redd.it/d2i6wps47h9f1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ab15237dce54eb4522df9db80bcfdecbea10bd2
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I have the band and it will not stay connected to Bluetooth. Waiting on customer service. Supes annoying.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I’m just updating in case someone else is following for updates. This thing will not stay connected. I’ve updated to each version of the app. They said to connect it to the app when charging and that didn’t work, either. It just won’t stay connected to blue tooth or the app. I’ve asked for a return. Maybe the one I have is faulty. (Apple user).
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I had the same issue, sent email to return it but customer support suggested updating to the latest hume iphone app and it solved it
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->Hume health band is a joke…I purchased because I also use the Hume scale. I was under the impression the two working together would give you a better picture of your overall health. While this still may be true, from my experience with the band, there are doubts. First, the battery life is no where near as advertised, 2.5 days at best. No warning a low battery. When it dies while you’re sleeping it obviously stops recording the metrics, but when you recharge and connect to the app, it sends only the info collected before the battery died. When it does that it severely skews your numbers in the wrong direction. 2. Customer Service, what customer service? I have asked multiple times for a refund only to be ghosted. I would stay away from this company.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->The Hume band is garbage. I am currently in the process of requesting a refund within their policy. Their customer service has been so unhelpful. Unfortunately I have little faith that they will actually give me my money. I hope I’m wrong and they will; but if not, I’ll fight them. I will need to utilize chargeback service through my credit card company and will report them to consumer protection entities. DON’T GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR MONEY.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->I recently received an email too, and also have their body pod scale. I personally like the scale even if it’s not 100% accurate. I do like the general metrics and the trend it shows over time. I don’t weigh myself everyday, so I’m not able to capture what a 30 day looks like when my weight fluctuates. I think the Hume band would close that gap for me because it’s something I can just wear and would capture specific metrics. I don’t think it would capture the same metrics as the body pod but it would be great if it did. I’m very interested in the fact that it can recommend me the ideal time to sleep and eat so my body can utilize my energy efficiently. However, I’m still unsure because I can’t really find anything else about Hume band besides this post. I read the reviews on the Hume band from their actual website but I’m skeptical if the reviews are real or not. I’m on the fence of purchasing it myself.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->It's crap. I've had no end of pairing issues with multiple devices they just don't see it in the app but it's visible to Bluetooth. There are date issues in that my phone was set to Singapore region but UK time and at 5pm UK time it thought I was on the next day as midnight in Singapore Some numbers don't make sense eg daily numbers for steps ok but the weekly and monthly tabs shite the same number as day but the graph shows the cumulative number It randomly loses the connection to the band And thinks you don't have one in the app - that sometimes needs a force close or reboot of the phone Support is useless and they say they are experiencing high calls probably because the device doesn't work properly.
r/PeterAttia • Hume Band - thoughts?? ->Complete waste of money. I have had the Hume Band for about 3 weeks. The band does not provide accurate or meaningful information. I was optimistic about the band because I didn't want a subscription like you have on Whoop. Despite the band costing more than a year membership it did not deliver on any of its promises. (Specifics Below) Each day I look at my sleep data and it tells me I got so many minutes of the different sleep cycles and has a chart that reflects those over the night. Unfortunately, I know I get up to use the restroom or get a drink and it still tells me I had uninterrupted sleep. When I'm active in the gym, pool, hiking, etc.. the band does not register the activities or the calorie expenditures. I use my Garmin watch to track workouts and the Garmin tells me I was active for however long and burned so many calories, then when I look on the Hume app it says I had almost no active time and burned no calories. For example, today I did 45 minutes on a stair stepper, the stepper said I burned over 800 calories, Garmin said 700, Hume said I had 3 minutes of active work and burned 25 calories. How can it assess your stress and longevity if it doesn't even know when you are active. You cannot manually start activities or get any type of real time feedback. The App is completely useless. There are graphs that don't tell you anything and "AI Generated" metrics that they don't explain. I cannot get the app to sync with Google health or Google fit, despite saying they are connected. Today I initiated a return because they say they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. We will see if they honor the advertised guarantee. I pre-ordered the new Polar Loop and hope that works better. Save your money and time.
