Long battery, but wrist HR often inaccurate.

Running these analyses costs money. Buy through my links to help keep lights on! I may get a small commission.
I also wear the Oura ring (gen 4, on right ring finger). Mine seems fine, I don’t bring my phone on the bench though so it’s all in device tracked and I know that can cause some gaps in tracking but it seems to get everything pretty well
Got fed up with waking up tired and not knowing why, so I went full psycho and wore/used multiple trackers at once to see which ones actually match up. TL;DR at bottom. **The setup:** \- Oura Ring 4 \- Samsung Galaxy Ring \- Fitbit Charge 6 \- Garmin Venu 3 \- Withings mat under my mattress \- Cheap Amazfit as control **What I found:** Oura was consistently the most accurate for sleep stages. Like, within 5-10 min of when I actually remember falling asleep/waking up. The HRV data correlates scary well with how I actually feel. BUT and this is the kicker—the Fitbit Charge 6 at $179 was maybe 85-90% as accurate as the $399 Oura. For most people that's probably good enough. Samsung Galaxy Ring surprised me. No subscription, solid accuracy, but you NEED a Samsung phone or it's basically useless. The Withings mat was weird. Some nights dead accurate, other nights it logged me as asleep when I was literally reading in bed. Partner movement throws it off. **Biggest surprise:** The cheap Amazfit ($89) wasn't terrible?? Sleep duration was accurate, stages were hit or miss. If you just want basic data it works. **What actually improved my sleep:** Honestly tracking alone did nothing. What helped was: \- Seeing my HRV tank after drinking (even 1-2 beers) \- Realizing my "good" sleep nights correlated with room temp under 68°F \- Noticing deep sleep crashed when I ate late **TL;DR:** \- Got money? Oura Ring 4 \- Budget king? Fitbit Charge 6 \- Hate wearing stuff? Withings mat (if you sleep alone) \- Samsung user? Galaxy Ring is solid \- Broke? Amazfit Balance does the basics Happy to answer questions. Been down this rabbit hole way too deep. wrote up a longer comparison with prices and specs if anyone wants it: [https://sleepupgradehub.com/the-best-sleep-trackers-of-2025-reddit-s-top-picks-373007](https://sleepupgradehub.com/the-best-sleep-trackers-of-2025-reddit-s-top-picks-373007)
Oura has helpt me making better choices. I’m much more aware of how my actions impact my sleep, which again impact my wellbeing, mood and so on. I notice a difference in which suppliments that work for me. Personally I do wear it to the gym, but take it off when needed. If you where more about cardio than gym, a smart watch would probably been a better choice. For that everyday and sleep stat Oura is great. I also enjoy the look of it compared to smart watches, which I find much more useable. I don’t expect gen 5 to be around the corner, if it were why make ceramic in gen 4? But it is old enough to get on sale.
Ive had the oura ring 4 for about 3 months now. Its absolute crap. I upgraded from the oura 3 and regretting it every day. My sleep data is has significant gaps nightly. Trying to get oura to take me seriously is an exercise in futility. My scores have tanked for things like - the no hr/hrv data being read after midnight so it looks like my heart rate never dropped (which it usually does much later in the night) so it tells me my body hasn’t rested all bc it failed to read my heart rate when it was low. I sold my oura 3, so i can’t just switch back. Its infuriatinggggg. Gahhhh
I do too! I'm shopping for a new non-Oura product now that my Oura ring 4 has conked out, and what I'm finding are a lot of reviews about a products sleep tracking, exercise tracking, but absolutely NOTHING on its menstrual insights. Probably doesn't help that most reviewers are men, and the rest are just doing "3 days with the Oura ring!" when it needs longer than that to even begin tracking your cycle. I didn't buy it for the menstrual cycle function, but it has become by far its best feature to me. Sleep's good too.
I bought it for the sleep (it's one of the best out there) but now that I'm shopping for a new wearable the most important function is actually the menstrual phase tracking. (2nd time the Oura Ring 4 has needed a warranty repair/replace within 1 year and they've refused, won't buy another). It tracks your body temperature, keeps track of your period phases, you can see each day how your temperature fluctuates with the cycle stage. It's been really good.
The whoop subscription is so expensive, that was what sold me on the Oura. I’ve had my Oura 4 for eight months and love it so much.
I wear both my Garmin Fenix 7S and Oura 4 24/7, but I only track runs with the Garmin and only care about the sleep/cycle/wellness metrics from my Oura. They each serve their purpose, and I like having both of them.
