meh... I was part of an Adidas study that paid me whoop for 1 and half year. I just recently renewed as I am definitely more athletic than before. In particular the increase in sleep quantity and quality was a big factor and I could not have achieved the same level of insight with my Polar vantage v3

So I already use polar ecosystem since over ten years. I already have polar v3 and other polar product. I was waiting for a product I can wear with mechanical watch.

Hi Thks for mega thread 👍 By my side I have twi issues with my loop Can’t charge it to 100% When have autostart and start an activity I have a double résult. Just a thing I use polar bear and ches over 10 years and actually heve a vantage v3. I have report my bugs on polar support and waiting an answer. I saw the software’s roadmap and enjoy this. Polar is an efficient brand which give us what customers wants. Loop was a user demand and I have it. Thanks. continue to develop your Products

Tried a polar vantage v3. Managed to break the glass within 3 days ( in the same way that merely left a few scratches on my Apple Watch 3).Luckily the retailer refunded it. Now have a Suunto race titanium and it feels much more solid. I went for Polar because of “buy from EU” but I’m much happier with the Suunto.

Coros is from US. Heart rate wrist measurement works really bad. I would suggest Polar Vantage 3 if the budget allows.

I use the Polar Grit X Pro Titan, the Polar H10 chest strap, and the Polar Vantage V3. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the Polar Vantage V3. I experience inaccurate heart rate readings far too often, even during slow walks, not to mention during workouts. Sleep tracking is straightforward and easy to follow, but the Polar algorithm often struggles when it comes to calculating sleep stages and awakenings. I’m personally considering switching to the Garmin Forerunner 970, as I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from friends.

Hi, i'm using Polar Vantage V3 and part of daily activity tracking is how much calories were burnt divided between 3 categories: metabolism, activities and training. This is synched with Polar app. I believe for Loop it should be the same.

I switched from a Garmin Forerunner to the Polar Vantage 3 a while ago and the watch is absolutely excellent. Heart rate monitor is great and sleep tracking is miles ahead of what my (relatively) old Garmin had. That being said, the software just isn't as good. The watch software itself is mostly fine, but Polar Flow is way, way worse than Garmin Connect. A lot of features are straight up missing or just worse. I'm super happy with the hardware itself, but you have to be prepared to move to a third party service if software is important to you.

I really like my Polar Vantage V3. Good sleep tracker, perfect heart monitor (I compared to chest belt), quick to find GPS signal when starting the session, provides useful info. Highly recommended

I was hesitating between Suunto and Polar. I don't exactly remember why I went for Polar, though. 2 very good watches.

Oh, I must add: the armband on the Polar is really, really good. I'm wearing mine 24/7 (save for showers and when charging it) and I have no irritations on the skin, which is normally something I always get. Been wearing mine for about 6 months.

Doesn’t make sense buying a loop so if I have a Vantage V3, I actually just liked my V3 as a watch and the face of it, that’s very disappointing now

I agree with others, for distances under 5km, a dedicated sports watch watch isn't very advantageous over a more general smart watch like an apple or samsung watch. Either one of these will track sleep, recovery, heart rate, etc at a good enough level for anyone who isn't a professional or elite amateur. They also have good secondary market value, so if you do want to switch to a proper sports watch, you can sell the smart watch to recoup some of the cost. Remember, the devices only really do data logging and some basic calculation for fatigue, sleep, etc. They don't automatically make you a better runner. (Although having a fancy watch on your wrist certainly motivates you). If you are dead set on a sports watch, they are all great options. Pick which one looks best. And tip: you can always buy different straps. The same watch can look drastically different for the office, gym, weddings, clubbing, etc if you own a rotation of 3-4 straps. I personally have a steel band, black and tan leather and a silicone strap for my polar vantage v3.

This is in line with my observations. Polar Precision Prime is better than Elixir (Pacer Pro better than M3, in my case). I'm glad they went for Precision Prime on the new loop band. Garmin (various watches) was almost always worse than Polar Precision Prime for me.

Its about as good as you are going to get. Apple does lock certain features to apple watch only - so an apple watch ultra 2 is an alternative option you can look at - as does include recreational diving features - but not as much as the fenix 8, and you can cover the gaps the F8 misses via 3rd party apps - but does leave out the cohesive eco system garmin provides - and considering that you barely mention any smart features would then say you are looking at the right watch (definitely from fitness tracking and progress tracking point of view). Fishing - actually it does - you can log your catch and log the spots where you catch..... [https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-EECCAC99-90D6-4AB1-9A3A-EC433D3365E2/EN-US/GUID-A6881EE1-DB08-4922-925F-C7526EFAE8A2.html](https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-EECCAC99-90D6-4AB1-9A3A-EC433D3365E2/EN-US/GUID-A6881EE1-DB08-4922-925F-C7526EFAE8A2.html) and then you can used those saved location spots to navigate back to them at any point (can be very useful for fishing holes whether out on the water or fishing from bank/beach). All garmin have a built in coach for running - think C25K but does up to half marathon distance, then F8 incldues a Daily suggested workout option which you can then add a race event to it, to get the DSW to try and get you to peak for your event - so if you want a hassel free experience and a watch to build your training programme - hard to beat what garmin offers. Hiking- get offline maps and offline navigation (think satnav from car on watch) - so can create routes and get tbt directions on watch and via audio. Plus love the climbpro feature. Maps will work with all outdoor activity so can use for paddling as well as running / hiking etc (have a couple of paddle routes for when on canals / rivers especially canals in towns - great way of seeing parts of a town via water). So yes there isn't really anything else that comes close to matching it. Nearest alternative options would be apple watch ultra 2 (and losts of 3rd party apps); polar grit/vantage and coros pace pro /apex pro / vertix all include built in training systems and with training metrics and analytics like garmin to track progress; suunto at this stage is training metrics and analytics - though their suunto ocean is a full dive watch (garmin equivalent is the descent mk3 which is basically a fenix with full dive capability);
