Hey! I wanted to share a basic review of my RingConn Gen2 (in Dune Gold) Air for anyone still on the fence. **Background:** I’ve been a Fitbit user for 10+ years and a Garmin user for about 5. Since Garmin’s phasing out analog-style trackers (and I like being able to see the time without turning on a screen), I decided to go back to regular watches and try a smart ring instead. Steps and activity were my main focus with Fitbit and Garmin, but now I’m more interested in sleep and general health tracking. This is my *first* smart ring, so I can’t compare it to Oura or Ultrahuman, etc. **My top tracking priorities:** * Sleep * Activity * Menstrual cycle * Steps # Physical feel The RingConn Air is surprisingly light - much lighter than I expected (especially compared to my husband’s ceramic wedding band). It feels like wearing nothing at all most of the day. I only notice it during heavier chores like opening jars or lifting things around the house. # Sleep Tracking Sleep tracking feels accurate for me. It was able to differentiate between time in bed and actual sleep, which is great since I often end the night reading or watching TV. One feature I loved: after a night of heavy drinking, the app flagged “outlier” data in my stress and SpO₂ readings and even prompted possible reasons like “alcohol” or “stressful day.” It's something I wouldn't have cared about before, but I see it being really helpful for general health trends! **Activity Tracking** My usual workouts are weight training and Lagree, neither of which are default exercises in the app. I tried auto-detect once during a Lagree class - it correctly logged activity but I turned it off afterward (heard it drains battery faster). I haven’t worn it for weight training yet since I’m waiting on a ring cover to protect it from scratches! # Menstrual Cycle Tracking I was pretty spoiled because Garmin has been great for tracking my cycle, it was helpful to know when my period was expected, it would also notify me when to expect a period, and suggest lighter activity and better nutrition a few days prior. RingConn matches it, if not exceeds it in detail. Garmin tracks flow, mood, and symptoms, but RingConn goes deeper: spotting, color, clots, discharge, libido, appetite, medications, alcohol/tobacco, pain, ovulation, and more. I just finished my first logged cycle and was impressed with how thorough the options are. I’m curious to see how these logs affect predictions and recommendations in the coming months. **Step Tracking** This is definitely the weakest point. The ring tends to **overcount** steps: For comparison here’s what Ringconn tracked vs my Garmin: 1. Oct 25 - 9713 vs 5547 Garmin 2. Oct 26 - 9020 vs 6367 Garmin 3. Oct 27 - 5262 vs 3631 Garmin 4. Oct 28 - 3912 vs 2618 Garmin Even a short trip from my bed to the bathroom got me 26 steps this morning 🤷🏻♀️. I’ve read that step tracking can be hit or miss across all smart rings, so if that’s your priority, you may want to wait for the tech to mature. **Battery Life** This has been great so far. I started wearing the ring Oct 7, and I’ve only charged it twice since then. I know others haven’t had the same luck, so fingers crossed it stays consistent! # Overall Thoughts For $159 during Prime days(?), I think it’s a great starter smart ring! I think this may be for someone whos perhaps less activity/step focused (and honestly there are so many great activity trackers out there for this), and more for overall health!
r/SmartRings • My Basic Review of the RingConn Gen2 Air (from a long-time Fitbit & Garmin user) ->I like my ringconn gen 2! No subscription and it’s the thinnest on the market.
r/PetiteFitness • Anyone use an oura ring? Do you like it? ->I like my RingConn Gen 2. Wrist worn wearables are not something I would consider. I have nice watches, and I like to wear them. I think the wrist worn ones look ugly outside of the gym. I went with the RingConn because I didn't want to pay for an ongoing subscription. Some people complain about battery, but mine's been great. I wear it for about a week, then I throw it in the case while I'm showering/putting on lotion a few mornings in a row. It's not perfect, but no device is.
r/PetiteFitness • What's the best fitness device? ->I’ve had every Oura ring. My biggest problem with it was that I had to charge it three times a week. I then saw that the Ringcon 2 had a 12-day battery life. I ordered one, and I absolutely love it. I have used both the Oura Ring 4 and the Ringcon 2 at the same time, and the stats seem very similar. I’m now Ringcon over Oura.
r/SmartRings • which smart ring should I get? ->That’s what I came here to suggest! I love mine! And it’s so much thinner than oura rings, I tried a friends on and it was so bulky on my small hands! Ringconn gen 2 for the win!
r/PetiteFitness • Anyone use an oura ring? Do you like it? ->The only smart watch I wore for a while was the Garmin vivomove HR because it at the time was the closest thing I could see that resembled a traditional watch. It wasnt the worst thing, it looked and felt like a normal watch, notifications were not the greatest which was good because I didn't want it for tbat, I wanted something that measured steps and HR that looked ok. I used it on one trip and put it into non smart mode and one charge lasted me almost the entire trip which was 3 and a half weeks. Since I've got a ringconn V2 wearable ring, I'll never need to contemplate a smartwatch ever again. I wear my traditional watches and a ring. Easy. Sold the Garmin to some lady who then messaged me now happy she is because it doesn't spam you with notifications, so it went to a good place
r/Watches • [discussion] Those who went Apple Watch to Traditional ->I compared the Apple Watch Ultra 2, Oura Gen 4 and RingConn Gen 2 over a 20 day period very recently. Assuming the watch is the best at tracking sleep I compared both rings to the watch. Averaging the data I found the following: RingConn: Differences more (less) REM 26 minutes Deep 71 minutes Light (163) minutes Total (66) minutes Oura: Differences more (less) REM 4 minutes Deep 1 minute Light (50) minutes Total (45) minutes I really wanted the RingConn but sleep tracking is my priority. I use the watch for everything else. I returned the ring. These are my results and nothing more. Hopefully the patent issue will get resolved and next year I’ll look at RingConn again.
r/ouraring • Is Oura Gen 4 Still Worth It? ->yup you aren't allowed to say anything bad about Apple on any of the Apple subreddits. The amount of cope Apple fans engage in is really next level. My Ringconn Gen 2 gives me more accurate sleep tracking than my Apple watch. My Apple watch will detect me taking a 'nap' when I'm sitting on the sofa relaxed and playing videogames. And the sleep stages also consistently seem off to me. Meanwhile you have people posting on the Ringconn sub saying the sleep tracking on the ring is bad because it doesn't align with the Apple Watch .... which has pretty faulty sleep tracking in general in my experience.
r/AppleWatch • Sleep score: Apple watch v. Garmin ->I wear Garmin, Fitbit, RingConn and Helio Strap 🤣
r/whoop • How many wearables is too many?! ->Well strap seems to me a way bulkier. (Dont have Amaz helio ring, but ringconn and In used to it). Usually when I get home, I take off my watch right away to rest, I'm afraid the strap will get in my way.
r/amazfit • Picked up the Helios strap ->same, I got a ring that didn't require a sub and it's working well. I hate subscription model. But I get it.
r/Watches • [discussion] Those who went Apple Watch to Traditional ->I was only wearing apple watch for a long time as well and this year switched to a traditional watch and not looking back. It took a little getting used to but I am happier and poorer now. I got a ringconn to track my heart rate and sleep but mostly for outliers. I don't really use those data in any detailed way. Watches have become my main hobby other than playing with my kids. So stick with the Apple watch if you want your wallet to be fuller.
r/Watches • [discussion] Those who went Apple Watch to Traditional ->I used then gave up on the Apple Watch but always had it on my right. Never stopped using the mechanical on my left. The Apple Watch had been a convenient way for calls (I work from home and it was terribly convenient). As iOS’s upgraded, call functionality became worse and just got so bad I took it off. The few fitness benefits I cared about I get just fine now with a Ringconn. Could never stop wearing my vintage watches
r/Watches • [discussion] Those who went Apple Watch to Traditional ->Bought one, sold for $100 on Marketplace, made $85 in the end. I'd never pay a subscription to access my own data (which is why I have a Ringconn smart ring which works just fine) and it's utterly useless without it.
r/AmexPlatinum • The Oura Ring 3 Kind Of Sucks.... ->I still wanted a fitness tracker so I went to the RingConn ring and like it a lot.
r/Watches • [discussion] Those who went Apple Watch to Traditional ->I have a ringconn and I love it! The period and sleep insights are so helpful. I semi track my workouts but thats not why I have it.
r/PetiteFitness • Anyone use an oura ring? Do you like it? ->I have RingConn and an Apple Watch. I use both daily. The watch has the most data. I utilize the ring for sleep tracking (I don’t sleep with watch). Watch is used for more stuff. Apple Pay, weather, timers, messages and more. Both are beneficial.
r/minimalism • Are smart rings just hype or are they actually great products? ->Check out Helio by Amazfit. I’ve been using the RingConn smart ring and I absolutely love it!
r/whoop • If not WHOOP, what else? ->I’ve dropped a lot of cash on wearable devices, trying to figure out which ones work best for tracking my health and fitness. Here’s my take on each, cleaned up for clarity: 1. Oura Ring: I like this one a lot. It’s awesome for displaying sleep data in a clear way, and I don’t mind the monthly subscription. That said, it’s mostly focused on sleep tracking. It can get uncomfortable when I’m lifting weights or wearing motorcycle gloves. Their customer service is great, though—they replaced my ring even after the warranty was long gone. My only worry is how they handle user data; I’m not sure I trust their database practices. 2. RingConn: This was a total bust. The UI and UX are awful, and my device had a sensor error. I emailed their support for weeks with no response. Only after I posted about it on X did they reach out and send a replacement. Honestly, it’s not worth the money or the headache. 3. Apple Watch Ultra 2: This is great for tracking activities like running and general fitness. The data has gotten much better, but if you want in-depth info on sleep, stress, or what Whoop offers, you’re stuck paying for multiple subscriptions. I use it for sleep, running, and pretty much any activity, and it does the job well. I decided to pair it with the Whoop since they complement each other perfectly, and I still get to show off my cool watches. 4. Whoop 5.0: This is my top pick. The data is incredibly detailed, and the new bicep strap is so comfortable I forget it’s on. It doesn’t auto-detect activities, but I sync everything from Apple Health, so I don’t need to manually start or stop tracking. Pairing it with the Apple Watch works like a charm, giving me the best of both worlds while letting me wear my favorite watches. After spending all this time and money, I’d say the Whoop 5.0, paired with the Apple Watch, is totally worth it for me. It’s the most complete and seamless setup I’ve found.
r/whoop • If not WHOOP, what else? ->I need to monitor my heart rate trends for medical reasons, so I use a ringconn, and only a smartwatch when doing exercise.
r/Watches • [discussion] Those who went Apple Watch to Traditional ->I use a Ringconn Smart Ring. It's great and doesn't take up any valuable wrist real estate.
r/Watches • [discussion] Those who went Apple Watch to Traditional ->I love my ringconn as well! Had it over two months now and the tracking has been so helpful for me. So glad I got it! I love how much sleeker it is compared to oura or ultra human.
r/SmartRings • My Basic Review of the RingConn Gen2 Air (from a long-time Fitbit & Garmin user) ->Have tried the Oura and Ultrahuman, but the RingConn was much better for me as it is invisible when worn. None of them are particularly accurate, however, and the tech is still in its infancy. The Fitbit Luxe is small on the other wrist, but is not perfect. Sadly an Apple Watch or Garmin are way better, but double writing is tricky.
r/OmegaWatches • Fitness trackers and wearables. ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
