Suunto Peak 5 is good, the 7 is apparently even better. Currently in Nepal trekking and using the Peak 5.

Love my coros pace 3 for xc skiing. Way better at it than my previous Suunto 5 peak

Your loyalty for Suunto is the best. I would recommend the Suunto 5 Peak. It is a lightweight and affordable multisport GPS. 41% lighter design compared to its predecessor. Up to 4 days of continuous GPS tracking in Tour mode. 3D heatmaps and route planning via the Suunto app. 'Burner' feature estimating fat and carbohydrate usage during workouts. You can also try the Race Series with advanced dual-system technology combining both smart functionalities alongside robust athletic capabilities ensuring versatility across diverse scenarios whether urban explorations OR rugged wilderness escapades alike.

I do hiking, cycling, running, yoga and gym in addition to climbing, and like my Suunto 5 Peak for all of it. It allows me to indicate active time and nonactive time (belaying etc). It has been really durable as well, although I do take it off for trad climbing

suunto despite their 7 series currently does not own any other watch which would ve been more smartwatch than sports one. all other watches like race/race s have really limited and basic smartwatch functions like notifications, basic response on calls, find my phone function, and ofc other, more sports related stuff, beside obvious GPS with barometer and offline maps, there re also included whrist HR with blood oxygen, sleep tracking, training loads and suggestions, etc. soo from suunto currently there re nothing worth to mention in terms of smartwatch more than just normal sports watch. there re some rumours which i can't deny/confirm it that suunto re finally making a sports watch with option of onboard music storage and NFC but again, only rumours for now. soo if you want somehow smaller watch with limited smart functions but more sport functions, may i suggest suunto race S with AMOLED display and improved HR wrist sensor over previous RACE/vertical model. there is also RACE model whcih os slightly bigger with better battery life and more robust desing but worse Whrist HR sensor. links: [https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Products/sports-watches/suunto-race-s/suunto-race-s-all-black/](https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Products/sports-watches/suunto-race-s/suunto-race-s-all-black/) and [https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Products/sports-watches/suunto-race/suunto-race-all-black/](https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Products/sports-watches/suunto-race/suunto-race-all-black/) and comparision bettwen: [https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Compare-Products/?products=446665%3B301596%3B415084](https://www.suunto.com/en-gb/Compare-Products/?products=446665%3B301596%3B415084) but if thats not what you re looking for then its more or less either w8 till suunto release something new or try to find another suunto 7 or simply switch brand to idk. garmin re offering more for your money in terms with smart functions with their forerunner series like 265 or 255music or similar or simply go for smartwatch desing from idk samsung or apple or huawei or xiaomi (in that case this subbreddit is not exactly right adress). soo yea, bassically those options you have. the rest like suunto vertical or even suunto race re more focused on mountain/trail running or mountains in general or other more extreme stuff if i can say soo, it can still be daily watch but kinda not worth the money if you re using your watch for idk, simple jogging or running like few km per day or so, etc. soo bottom line: * suunto race S is rn closest to suunto 7 in terms of size and slekky desing if i can say soo but its still considered as sport watch * also check Race and vertical but both re more focused on mountain/trail running conditions but still can be usesful but kinda expensive if your type of usuage is more everyday wear with some jogging/running in mind. * but none of current suuntos does not have smart functions like your current suunto 7 have soo with that being said unless suunto release something new which rumours re here but we can't say for sure where this will go. * change brand to garmin forreruner have some options like 255 or 256 or similar or simply go for smartwatch. *suunto 9 peak pro or peak 5 re still decent watches and with the right price also good ones for sure.
