I’m a big fan of my Suunto Verttical solar. Insane battery life and all the bells and whistles for my needs.

For me it's a compromise. I wouldn't wear a smartwatch or mechanical one to a marathon or a wod and I wouldn't wear a sports watch with a suit, they hardly fit under a regular button down cuff. There are some less flashy looking sport watches though that I'd imagine wearing daily but the high end tends to gravitate towards tacticool with maybe the exception of Suunto Vertical Titanium.

Vertical with a solar panel is nice. Goes for months while recording occasional runs and stuff.

I’ve been wearing a Suunto Vertical titanium for about a year. I have very few complaints about it, this thing has taken a beating, and still looks great.

100%. I took both my Suunto Vertical and Coros Vertix 2 to Chamonix a couple of summers ago. Each run/hike I relied on maps & navigation more than any other feature. I started out with Coros, but after losing the trail a few times at crucial intersections, I swapped out for Suunto. It performed much better in that environment.

Edit:  original comment I replied to just said "Because the battery dies after a day". Maybe for an Apple watch?  Really inaccurate for any modern watch  designed for the activity.   My Apex 2 Pro lasts for about 3 days straight tracking my location, and I don't need to track when I'm stopped or sleeping.  It realistically gets me 5 days of use between charges.  If I ever do more than that, it's battery is so small it barely affects my power bank.  Or if you regularly do more, the Vertix gets double the battery life.  Garmin or Suunto have similar options and capabilities too.

Cannot recommend this enough, I did the YouTube cycle and landed on Suunto Vertical, and I’m satisfied so far.

Suunto is years ahead simply with the implementation of ZoneSense. It’s a pure sports watch without unnecessary gimmicks, designed for athletes who truly understand their training. Yes, you need to know yourself to set it up properly, but that’s exactly why it excels. The Suunto Vertical is a masterpiece of precision, unmatched in its accuracy. Bugs? No different from any other brand or tech. But calling Suunto “late” is misleading—ZoneSense redefines training, making traditional metrics like HR, pace, or power feel obsolete.

I turned off auto update on my vertical because I get more bugs than useful features from their updates lately. Last year the watch got an update that made it not able to sync with the app after an activity. I also rolled the latest update back as I found the ui carousel looked a lot worse than the previous ui on the vertical. I find suuntos updates similar to coros in that they have no issue releasing buggy firmware

I got the Suunto Vertical at the beginning of this summer. I was hoping it would replace the navigation apps I use on my phone for maps and routes. I have found the Vertical pretty disappointing. All of my trips are in the US. All of my physical maps and guides are in feet. Suunto maps only do contour lines in meters. I don’t know why I find this so frustrating, but if I knew that I would not have purchased. The watch and app also only display 1 route at a time. You can save multiple at once, but if you want to look at a map and see where you are and see multiple bail out or extension options then you need a different tool. You can create a route in the Suunto app. The distance seems pretty accurate when you do that but the elevation gain and loss on a route created is wildly inaccurate. I will readily admit that I got so pissed off with those features on the watch in the first month or 2 that I really haven’t spent a lot more time trying to get the most out of the other watch features. If you want to track your sleep schedule, recovery time or your parkour & e-bike workouts it might be great for that. For me it fails at the basics of an outdoor map tracking tool and that’s all I wanted it for.

Yeah, I’m an Apple fanboi. I literally own at least one of every product except the VisionPro… and while I do like my AWU2, the battery life was annoying AF. I also like having programs built in that don’t require me downloading apps and researching which ones are worth it, etc.  I also recently had a Suunto Vertical, and really loved it, too. If it had just a few more data points, I probably wouldn’t have switched to the Fenix 8

I use a Suunto Vertical - my primary activities are road and trail running and I do CrossFit 3x a week. Watch has amazing battery life - 3 weeks or so on average with daily use and gps and navigation features are great. For CrossFit I primarily track time and HR.
