I switched a month ago because of this exact reason. My Apple watch would last 12-14 hours tops. It shut down during one of my runs and that was it. Bought the Garmin Forerunner 570 and haven’t looked back.

Venu 4 all the way. I was between the 570 and the Venu 4, bought the latter and I'm super happy.

I have a forerunner 570 and it’s great, use it for swimming, running, skiing, etc.

Not familiar with other model except forerunner. I would go for 570 but if the budget fits, I would go for 970. Flashlight, Sapphire glass, titanium bezel & speaker among other upgrades. Download the optimity app to get discount by doing a couple of clicks everyday. Or ask around here. I like the forerunner bec. it got dedicated buttons for runners. Very handy. The UI hasn't change that much since my first forerunner. A 210. The 970 has specific features like morning and evening report. Built in maps. It is first and foremost a running watch and a smart watch second.

What others have said. Smart watch vs running watch is the real choice. In theory, Apple watches have more than enough juice to run a marathon. In practice, sometimes they drain battery faster for whatever reason. I traded in my s10 for a Garmin 570 around 2 months ago as my runs got longer and I had a 13 mile training run drain my battery from 90% -> 10%. Can’t say Garmin is all sunshine and roses (much of their app UX is garbage, including just not explaining what does/doesn’t trigger certain stats to update) - but I can definitely say I don’t worry about battery life anymore.

I've got a Fenix 6s Pro and I'm looking for a replacement now. Top of the list at the moment Forerunners 970, 965 and 570. I got the Fenix for Triathlon and now it seems that the Forerunners have caught up. I don't really use the music or maps I always have my phone. Same goes for most of the sports. I just want running, cycling and swimming, DSW, sleep tacking and training readiness.

Excellent. I'm in a similar boat moving on from my Fenix 6s Pro and choosing between the 570 and 965. I have no need for maps on my watch as all my runs are local or planned. Similarly I don't have a use case for an ECG on my watch. I've had music storage and Spotify on my watch for 5 years and I've used it twice as I always have my phone or race without headphones. I found a 570 on eBay for £330 compared to most asking £400 for a 570 or 965 so I snapped it up. Should arrive tomorrow.

Maybe a good price, but it might be too good to be true. If it hadn't come up at that price I think I'd still be struggling to make a decision.
