TL;DR: Durable 3.5-cup for small batches, but bulky storage.

My experience with mini food processors is they won’t exactly shred cheese, but if you cut your cheese into small pieces and stick it in the freezer for 10 minutes, then chop it with the chopping blade (usually S shaped) you’ll get basically the same effect.

I bought the KitchenAid 3.5 Cup Food Chopper and it's one of my best cooking purchases in years. I've had variations of the same thing before but this is the very best I've used. I use it at least once a week for leftover fresh herbs, which I then freeze in cubes.

Oxo will definitely be way cheaper, but you can control the chop better. If you want a rough chop of onion, oxo will be better. But if you want minced and more time-intensive chopping, KitchenAid is the way to go. Good luck and happy cooking!

Do not use that often, but when I do love it, a kitchen aid mini prep food processor. So mych easier to clean too.

I really like my kitchen aid one. Wait for a sale and they’ll run you about $45 CAD. I’ve had it for years and it still runs just as well as day 1. It’s dishwasher safe also!

We have this one too. My wife has a daycare and uses it to puree the food for the smallest. I don't think it is bifl though. It's our second Kitchenaid in that size, last one was a little smaller and lasted about 5 years. It's possible my wife abused it a little though. We also have the large Kitchenaid processor, Artisan and blender, and I think those are gonna last us forever, but then again, we don't use those every day.

It depends on your needs. I have a Vitamix food processor and a Kitchenaid Mini. I’d say I use the mini 90% of the time. It’s super easy to clean and it does really save time in food prep. Plus, it’s very cheap. Going back, I would probably save money and not buy a fancy big food processor like the Vitamix (which by the way it’s fantastic and has excellent quality, just a real pain to clean) but just stick with the mini one.
