I've had my a40s (wired) for 8 years now and they refuse to break. Incredibly impressed by them and will by the newest ones once they do eventually break
r/computers • Which wireless gaming headset should I get ->My Astro (now by Logitech) headphones work great. No driver download needed with usb and surround. Remember that 3.5mm means in-game software is needed for surround and is worse than usb sound.
r/linux_gaming • Advice for Linux gaming headphones ->I've been kicking around the idea of getting some Sennheiser's for years. Problem is my 2016 Astro A40s won't die.
r/ArcRaiders • The sound when using a good set of headphones with directional sound is, dare I say, the best sound in any game ever made. ->Astro a40 with mixamp, I have not tried the a50s yet. Best headset I have found.
r/ArcRaiders • Headphones Raccomendation for the best Arc Raiders experience ->Yeah, the quality of the sound is just bounds ahead of other headsets and has been for years.
r/ArcRaiders • Headphones Raccomendation for the best Arc Raiders experience ->My top two for first person shooters are Astro a40s and now beyerdynamics, always wired usb with mic amp.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Any “Gaming” headphones that are actually good nowadays? ->I personally use Astro a40s and they work great. A lot of people recommend the steelseries arctis nova 7, so if I were you, I'd go for those if you're able to afford them.
r/Warzone • is the official xbox gaming headset a good headset for Warzone? ->Wired and no batteries, one that has no app to bug out. No batteries to die in 5 years. No firmware to bork and die. Oh the ancients made those it's a lost art.. Aliens showed us and we forgot. I got my MK1 Mixamp and A40s back when they were current, and with care and (replacing the stock mic entirely) are still going strong, and the surround function still just works. No firmware, no app. Just usb SPDIF and good times.
r/AstroGaming • Headset recommendations please! ->Big on the Astros. Have the A40s and they’ve been phenomenal going on 6 years.
r/Gaming_Headsets • [LFH] Looking for a good headset that ISN'T a gaming headset ->You have a solid setup there, which makes my point even more frustrating. You don't have to sell the farm to achieve decent audio performance. Gaming headsets are expensive and, in my experience, perform worse. My guess is that you knew what you wanted to spend and did a decent amount of homework putting something together. I have Astro A40s, steelseries, hd800s, DT1990, Hifiman XS, HE 4XX, HE 400 I, HD 650, HD58X, K702, K7XX and lots more midrange stuff. The A40s and steelseries always perform the worst (imaging) compared to everything else that I own other than the HE 4xx and 400i.
r/ZReviews • I get accused of wallhacks in FPS games. No, its because I can hear your position with pinpoint accuracy before you can hear me. ->astro a40 all the way. years ago i used to run through headsets like they were nothing. got a $300 sennheiser one and despite having small ears the inner earpad was still hitting them. the a40 with the mixamp is hard to beat. have had it for over 4 years now and would never look to swap it
r/ApexConsole • Headset recommendations ->can still find them on Amazon. the one i have been using for over 5 years is on there for $90 USD
r/ApexConsole • Headset recommendations ->I bought a used mixamp for my a40s, I don’t think they’re the “best” headphones ever, but I haven’t found anything i personally find to be more comfortable
r/buildapc • Best PC gaming headset? ->Ya if I'm gonna wear a headset all day I need it to breathe and feel like it's not there as much as possible. I've been on Astro A40s because of it, but I'm tired of the cable. Switching to earbuds to make coffee during a meeting sucks.
r/FractalDesign • Fractal Design Scape - First Impressions ->I've owned 5 pairs of A40s since 2012, nothing aside from the cord has failed me. I just recently switched to the A50x and I can't say enough good things about them... It will remain my recommendation for the next while.
r/AstroGaming • Headset recommendations please! ->I have A40s and regularly run comtach 4s and can hear pretty good so idk
r/Tarkov • Best In game Headset!??? ->Astro a40s with mixamp are very good. I had a pair that broke, so I tried an expensive Audeze headset that seemed good but it wasnt the same. About a year of use I swapped back to A40s, they were so much better imo.
r/ArcRaiders • Headphones Raccomendation for the best Arc Raiders experience ->I have a40s, they're very mediocre. Uncomfortable and mid directional audio, I can't imagine the a50s are much better
r/buildapc • Gaming Headset Broke Unexpectedly. Help Me Decide Between Wireless Gaming Headsets, or Recommend Me a Pair! ->Yea those are great, OP can also go for the A50s gen 5 but the earmuffs on those is smaller than the A40s. Also there might be a new gen A40 coming out soon, since the older stock has been oos.
r/AstroGaming • Headset recommendations please! ->It really comes down to personal preference. I had the Astro a40s when I was on Xbox and really liked them but I switched to some audiotechnica studio headphones and a standalone mic when I came to pc. None of what you have here are “bad” headsets.
r/pcmasterrace • Need a wireless headset recommendation for black Friday ->I would say don’t go near Astro at all. Their wired headsets have a known issue with the Mixamp that’s unfixable and if you’re one of the unlucky ones (I was) they will stonewall and do everything in their power to not rectify the situation. Build quality has also gone downhill since they are now under Logi. TL;DR - Fuck Astro.
r/buildapc • Gaming headset recommendations for my husband ->I should have asked for the same info myself recently. I read and watch reviews for weeks. In hind sight I should have paid closer attention to when those reviews were made. I bought the Astro A40 for a decent price of $149.99 before tax. I liked the fit and feature set. Had pretty darn good sound out of the box. But I do like to tinker and change EQ depending on what I'm listening to or playing. The only official way to EQ the A40 is through a Logitech mobile G Hub app. For me on android 14 and a Samsung phone, the EQ was jacked up and didn't match what most other users see. The app had trouble applying changes to the EQ and pairings. I also couldn't update it or there wasn't any firmware updates in a couple years. Long story short, the single "supported" way to interface with the headphones doesn't work. It seems like Logitech just bought Astro to remove the competition. I'm sure they'll use some ideas or patents and what not but they clearly have no interest in continuing to support the Astro products. After spending a weekend trying to change settings on the A40 and coming to this conclusion, I promptly returned the headset. I did end up installing Steelseries GG to control the EQ and surround settings of the headset but having to use a competitors software just to change the sound of a headset is not a good look. I ended up spending an unbelievable amount of money on the Arctis Nova Pro wireless. I realized how important sound is to me and that headset gives me the flexibility, features, and performance that I want in a headset. Sure there are negatives but the pros outweigh the cons for me. I really like them and plan on using them for many many years. Again, the A40 had a great sound out of the box and were pretty comfortable but that's about all the good I can say about them. I wouldn't recommend any Astro headset because Logitech doesn't care about those products. They're just going to profit off of the brand name as long as they can while putting zero effort into them. There are some problems with the wireless sets that are never going to be fixed. This is just my opinion. After finding many others with that opinion and others that had the same experience that is. I was comparing the A40, the Arctis Nova Pro wireless, Audize Maxwell, Corsair Virtuoso Max, and G Pro X 2. I did get to try on most of them as well and the Corsair felt super premium. The G Pro X 2 felt amazing also. The Steelseries 24bit DAC/AMP that's included with Nova Pro Wireless along with the active noise cancellation and the 3.5 jack is what ultimately swayed me. 3rd party accessory availability was also a small factor. I'm pretty happy with them. I think I would have been happy with any of the others that I was looking at also except for the A40. The reason I got those honestly was the attractive price of $149.99. At $179 which is the now regular price, they're not even worth consideration in my opinion.
r/AstroGaming • Headset recommendations please! ->Xbox official headset combined with a £20 mixer from Amazon. Not quite as good as my old a40’s but far better than the rubbish Astro are currently offering.
r/XboxSeriesXlS • What's a good headset that won't break the bank ->Astro a40s with the mix amp. Recommend 💯
r/DayzXbox • What headset would you recommend? ->Astro a40 off eBay can find well under 150 with mix amp
r/CODWarzone • New headset for cod ->The A40’s come with a mix amp that’s actually made for Xbox. The older A50’s come with a cable that doesn’t work on the next gen Xbox’s so they’re obsolete. The A50x’s removed the cable and now work through your HDMI. So I highly recommend A40’s. I’ve been using them for 8 years and have never had any issues. The A50X’s are supposed to be great but haven’t tried them
r/DayzXbox • What headset would you recommend? ->The astro a40 with the mixamp proved me wrong. I will probably never buy something else.
r/ArcRaiders • Thinking about getting a new headset for this game. Suggestions? ->There is nothing to compare it to imo, it just hits different and they clarity is out of this world. I really dont know what they use, I just play games man :p
r/ArcRaiders • Thinking about getting a new headset for this game. Suggestions? ->I’m abit old school but Astro a40 with mix amp still doing great.
r/dayz • Decent dayz headphones? ->I’ve got atmos running already before any of the steps I bought it awhile ago when I had A40s. Seems to be working
r/LogitechG • Review: Logitech G Pro X2 Lightspeed Headset ->I'm still using my A40s from the early 2010s and they are still great for me. Did not expect to have them this long but here we are.
r/buildapc • Best Wireless Gaming Headset Worth Buying Today ->A10 was the best headset I’ve had. Got it in 2017, the mic finally broke (physically, it got cut) just a few months ago. Quality audio and good endurance. I went to Gen 2 and it doesn’t quite fit my head the same and everybody complains that my mic volume it too low despite the monitoring being on max.
r/AstroGaming • Headset Recommendations? ->My Astro A40 headset never let me down
r/buildapc • What are the Best Gaming Headsets Available Now? ->The only wired ones I tried was the Astro A40 I dont own the mixamp but they still sounded pretty good just connected to controller.
r/playstation • What are the best gaming headphones in the $100 or less category? ->My personal journey to find the perfect audio setup that works for me was long and expensive. Put simply, I tried a ton of the gamer-focused headsets first. Went through a lot, and some of them were actually decent, but in the end, I realized the truth: gamer headphones are not a good value. They put more resources into the branding and aesthetics than they do for actual audio quality. The one exception to this was the Sennheiser/Drop PC38x. These are wired open back headphones with a built-in mic. For me, these were far and away the best sounding "gamer" headphones I ever tried, and it wasn't even close. The open back really opens up the soundstage, which, at least for me, really helped with directional audio. The convenience of the built-in mic was definitely a bonus too. Sadly, it looks like they are no longer making these... maybe Drop or Sennheiser still makes something similar but I haven't looked. I ran the Astro a40's for a long time too. These also have an open back design, but I always found them to be a bit too harsh, and I spent WAY too much time trying to tweak the EQ to get them to sound good. The terrible software didn't help matters either. IEM's are all the rage now. I was skeptical at first, but have found this to be the best way to go. IEM's were always kind of a niche item that was historically expensive for a decent set, but over the last few years, a TON of really good IEM's have hit the market for super cheap. My current favorite set are the Truthear Crinacle Zero Reds. You can find them on sale pretty often for around $50. If that's too much, there are a lot of great options in the $15 - $50 range too. The KZ Castors come to mind: I think I got mine for like $25 and I like these almost as much as the Zero Reds. The Audiovance Vibes 202's are good as well and can be had for around $30. I like them because they sound really great, and I like the cables they come with. And of course, everyone loves the Moondrop Chu II. I have those as well and they are indeed quite good, especially for the price (around $20). The amazing thing is that all of the IEM's I mentioned above sound way better than the in ear monitors I used to use back in my days of playing live music... and they literally cost hundreds of dollars less. It blows my mind. The one downside to IEM's is the lack of a built-in mic. This is easy to get around if you are playing on PC, but a little less convenient if you play on console. I have a dedicated mic for my setup since I do a lot of music recording so it isn't a problem, but if you need a built-in mic, there are cables for IEM's that you can buy that have a little mic built in. I can't really speak to how good they are, but I would think that would work ok plugged directly into your Xbox or PS controller. Anyway, I didn't set out to write a book here when I started this post, but there it is... TLDR; iems are the way to go. Even the Moondrop Chu II's sound significantly better than even the most expensive gamer-focused headsets. And that's before you even consider cost. If you are like me, and your earholes don't generally like earbuds, you may need to experiment with different tips to find something that is comfortable enough to wear for long periods, but once you do it is awesome, and definitely worth the trouble.
r/Warzone • What headphone pro player use? ->True sweats use studio microphones and headsets. I have astro a40’s and theyve always been fine for me
r/CODWarzone • Suggestions for Headsets ->I went with a40s because I hate dealing with batteries lol
r/CODWarzone • Suggestions for Headsets ->for $130, its a limiting price range. I'd recommend the Astro A40. higher end headset. but ive had mine for years. still have them, but switched over the the a50 now. Good budget headsets are turtle beach. wired will last longer, just be careful with breaking the wires. they are sensitive. if you throw them around, drop them, run the wire over on your chair, or twist them too much. they will fail. Source- Ive been playing with a headset for 20 years
r/BuyItForLife • Looking for PC/Xbox Gaming Headset ->I've been using an Astro A40 headset for years now, gaming on my PS4 and more recently PS5, but unfortunately over time it has seen a lot of wear because of the age. I have considered getting a new headset, and would like to stick with Astro since it's been so good, but I can't find any wired headsets that are still in production, and I would rather have a wired headset for personal preferences. Could anyone give any suggestions/advice?
r/AstroGaming • Which headset should I get? ->Im an A40 wired user. Those shits are durable. I have two kids that have used mine since they were toddlers. Absolutely tanked those years and still work great. Also they cover the whole ear which is something i prefer. Lots of metal parts too not a lot of plastic to worry about breaking. Ive sat on these things countless times.
r/XboxSeriesXlS • What's a good headset that won't break the bank ->By far the best ones for R6 are the Astro A40 or the Beyerdynamic 300 pro. Those two should be the only ones to consider. :)
r/Rainbow6 • What’s a good headset for r6? Budget is around 200$ started to get more into it help please ->Razer black shark pro.... best and most comfortable headset i ever had. I had a astro a40 before and i think the razer beats it in every aspect.
r/CODWarzone • New headset for cod ->Think they are doing away with the A40s I don’t know for sure but referred a few people for the Xbox version but there never in stock for a minute now even turned reminder on never got it. You can’t get refurbished anymore of them only ones you can find is the PlayStation version. I think Logitech may be discontinuing them since all there products seem to be going to only wireless now.
r/CODWarzone • Suggestions for Headsets ->Best kind of headset is a IEM but recommend a DAC or open back headphones. With that said I got a amazing tune on my astro a40 mix amp I did for this game and setting the in game eq also on top of that I can hear footsteps and positions a good bit aways. I get called a hacker every game because I can turn and preaim because I hear them coming the position they are. They can’t understand how I know they were there when I heard them a mile away coming. I don’t use any 3rd party apps etc all the tools are built into the game and my Astro dac for the two custom eqs I run on top of each other .
r/CODWarzone • Suggestions for Headsets ->I used the A40 for almost 6 years, i have been buying and returning a lot of headphones and iems trying to find a replacement and the Ziigat odyssey paired with the qudelix 5k Dac beat the A40 for much, i would really recommend getting them, also it is comfier since yoy dont hace headphones hanging on your head
r/AstroGaming • Best rival to the Astro A40 ->Historically I've always been an astro fan. Had a pair of Astro A40s back in 2008 and they were amazing. Used every generation of A50s. Gen 2 being my favourite. Ever since Logitech bought them out, they gotten progressively worse. Only thing they have going for them is the decent stock mic right out the box
r/steelseries • The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite: A Multi-Platform Powerhouse (Pricey, but Peerless) ->I strongly recommend the website "rtings" when shopping anything audio or visual related. Look for neutral sound, imaging, and passive soundstage. The rating for wired gaming will be unusually low for non-"gaming" headphones because there's no included mic, but I'm sure you already have a solution for that. I have been using my HD 598 for like 10 years at least and they're amazing. I have previously used Astro A40 and they had really good virtual surround sound. I also tried the Logitech something or other, like a $300 pair but the soundstage was horrible.. they were also closed back though.. I would not recommended changing headphones in your case, but you do you!
r/headphones • Are gaming headphones really that bad? ->I’ve been rocking my A40s for almost 8 years or more now and honestly if these ever give up on me I will be ordering another pair. Comfortable and sound is perfect for me.
r/buildapc • Best gaming headsets? ->Eu indicaria o Astro A40. Mas tem outros modelos Cloud III, Cloud Alpha S e talvez o Pichau Atria.
r/audiofiliabrasil • Headset gamer com bom audio espacial? ->I am very picky. They are too bulky for my liking. I'll stick to astros because they are pretty and sound good (from the reviews)
r/Rainbow6 • What’s a good headset for r6? Budget is around 200$ started to get more into it help please ->A40 Chads where you at? Mine just wont fucking die.! And since A40's seem to not be sold anymore.. A50 \~!
r/BestBuyWorkers • Best Gaming Headphones to get with the employee discount? ->hd560s sound way better than astros did. i’ve had a40s and a50s both. iri cod player and masters apex player.
r/sennheiser • Is someone using sennheiser for gaming? ->Please stay away from ASTRO (at least their wireless ones, they are garbage, the wired ones are just not really worth the money but at least fine to use). The only gaming branded actually good headsets I know of are from beyerdynamic mmx (f.e. Mmx 300) series and partly steelseries arctis series. Also: an actual headset or headphones? Headsets in general are much less worth the money because of the mic, if it's actually needed fine, but if you have an external mic anyways I really wouldn't get one. Also consider if wired is an option.
r/buildapc • Gaming headset recommendations for my husband ->Yea I had a a40 once (in exchange for the God knows worst audio device I ever had - a50) without the mixamp. Yea don't go with them, I was just giving some options, I'm myself full on iems because price to performance is just leagues away.
r/buildapc • Gaming headset recommendations for my husband ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
