I was with Astro since they launched the iconic a40, then the wireless receiver and wireless base which I loved though it wasn’t true wireless. Upgraded to gen 1 a50s, then gen 2 and finally gen 3. After that they seem to have lost that magic touch. I don’t know why but I just don’t like the way newer gen’s sound. It’s hard to explain. I use my Sony WH-1000XM6 bought recently wired and works when I plug it in with the headphone jack. It also allows voice chat in multiplayer games and noise cancellation to boot, sooo comfortable. It works on the portal and the PS5 controller for Tempest 3D audio. Only downside it wired va wireless. If headset vs earbuds I’d go with the headset. It sounds better and the earbuds are super uncomfortable. Not sure if the ear buds even connect to PC like the headset does.
A10 was the best headset I’ve had. Got it in 2017, the mic finally broke (physically, it got cut) just a few months ago. Quality audio and good endurance. I went to Gen 2 and it doesn’t quite fit my head the same and everybody complains that my mic volume it too low despite the monitoring being on max.
I use the hyper x cloud 3 s wireless. I used to use a50s for a while and while they sound good they started to hurt my ears for some reason recently. Hyper x headsets are always a good choice. I know how a lot of people feel about razer but the blackshark headsets are really good too
I also went from A50s to Lucid LS50X to Arctis Nova Pros. I’ll never go back. Been gaming for 20 years, best sound I’ve ever had in a headset. Earcups are fine for me, I have glasses and larger ears. But that’s always a preference thing I find. If you need the gel ones then you probably do for most headsets you’d buy anyways
You’re doing an amazing thing! I owned a pair of the A50s years ago. I really don’t think you can go wrong. If it’s just for PC I guess the regular ones are fine, get the A50X if he plays on console a lot too. Can’t go wrong either way! So unless you’re boyfriend is some kind of Audio snob (like me), these will be more then fine! They worked for me in my college days when I played on Xbox and PC, and the wireless was nice. And that was before the new fancy mix options. Pretty sure you can even get aftermarket memory foam ear cups, super comfy!
There is absolutely no need for the very best headphones because this game has one of the best audios ever. Now I have a good amount of experience with headphones and in my opinion HyperX alphas are TOP tier theyre cheap and affordable, great audio, and no need to configure anything or download software. Ive also owned A50s and nova pro wireless ive messed with the audio settings, sonar, list goes on man and its not that good.. imo gaming headsets are horrible. I strongly recommend you get IEMs they are sooooo good bro I switched last year and never looked back.
Astro A50’s are the most comfortable pair of headphones I’ve ever owned
Astro A50s, used to use them on my PS4 too and they’re still amazing. There’s an updated Gen 5 of them now too. They’re also much more comfortable than any steelseries headset for me
The New Astro A50s They are Fire .
Honestly the best headphone I ever used for gaming was Astro A50. Sound , bass and comfort was amazing. The only problem I had with it is that it keeps malfunctioning
