I went through two sets of A50 headsets (Version 4) in the last couple years. The first one I dropped on a hardwood floor and they shattered. The second set just died and I am currently waiting for a battery to get delivered to see if I can revive them. I love the fact they sound great and are light on my head, but I feel like they are way to expensive for what you get. If I can't replace the battery easily (mainly worried about getting the correct one from online retailers) then they are definitely not worth the price. Since you have tried a few, what would you suggest as a upgrade or comparable model? Usually I'm playing online with friends in COD, Valheim, and BG3. Want something light, durable, and that sounds good. Why is this so hard?!
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best gaming headset 2024? ->ive been using Astro A50 Gen 4 for few years now and they feel great,
r/buildapc • Best Wireless Gaming Headset Worth Buying Today ->I've had or used A50s, Sennhieser Game Ones, Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless and (briefly) Logitech Pro 2s. They are all really solid and good but I recently got a pair of Skullcandy Crusher Evo ANC 2 and they dwarf all of those with sound quality. It's very noticeable in games like Apex or Valorant. Pros: sound quality, Insane battery life, adjustable bass, easy connection to my pc or phone, usable in any situation. Cons: need standalone program for eq on pc, no built in mic (or I haven't bothered to try it). I have a pretty good standalone mic running thru my soundcard for my voice. I think the 'gaming' branded ones are good but these were better than any of those I listed above for me.
r/buildapc • What would be the best wireless gaming headset money can buy? ->hd560s sound way better than astros did. i’ve had a40s and a50s both. iri cod player and masters apex player.
r/sennheiser • Is someone using sennheiser for gaming? ->They use planar magnetic drivers which give insane detail and bass. They have multiple custom eqs and a good mic. Used them for cyberpunk and it was epic haha. These days surround is done software side for the most part so headphones don’t really include 7.1 anymore. I bet I know the headphones your dads friend had I had them they are white and called turtle beach x41 I had them in like 2010 they were soooo cool for their time. The closest you would get to that would be some gen 4 or earlier Astro a50 or something with an optical input so it can decode 7.1. But if you play on console you’d need a monitor or tv with optical output and 7.1 passthrough. The newer consoles have surround on them right out the controller so they got rid of the optical.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best headphones for game immersion? (closed back) ->I'll get hate, but I have used Astros for the last 15 years. I cannot use a different headset. Everything else just sounds bad to my ears when compared. Can they be unreliable? Yes Are they expensive? Yes Is there better? Yeah probably for the majority of people. However, I have tried to switch every time my current astro set dies and every time I just return the headset within a week because the sound quality just seems awful. I have astro A50s and I've been using A50s since I was 15, I'm now 31.
r/buildapc • Best Wireless Gaming Headset Worth Buying Today ->They're expensive and bulky. They're one of those brands people love to hate regardless if they've ever owned a pair or not.
r/buildapc • Best Wireless Gaming Headset Worth Buying Today ->a50s (the last 2 gens atleast) are the worst. some get lucky but most don’t, check out the astro reddit if you don’t believe me. they are comfortable and sound is ok but they aren’t reliable.
r/gamingpc • Best pc gaming headset ->i’ve had 2, one the battery went bad within warranty, it was replaced, I still own it but the base station started having connection issues. bought another thinking atleast I had a spare headset if something happened and the base station also quit working properly. my a40s are still on my desk and still get used occasionally but if you scroll the astro sun you’ll see nothing but issues with the a50s.
r/gamingpc • Best pc gaming headset ->yeah i’d agree with that. r/astro gaming is nothing but a50 owners with problems, some are due to the firmware update that caused issues that may be fixed now but most are base station issues.
r/gamingpc • Best pc gaming headset ->I just upgraded to Astro A50s, loving them. Getting them connected proved to be a pain though
r/PUBGConsole • What headphones are ya’ll using to hear those footsteps? ->I astro a50s for when I game, I personally find them a lot more comfortable to wear for hours and they sound great for what I need them for when listening to music I either use my sony xm4s if i’m traveling or airpods when i’m at work both of which would also be good enough for gaming but also serve their own separate purpose
r/buildapc • Why is it that gamers recommend different headphones to audiophiles or music listeners? ->Please stay away from ASTRO (at least their wireless ones, they are garbage, the wired ones are just not really worth the money but at least fine to use). The only gaming branded actually good headsets I know of are from beyerdynamic mmx (f.e. Mmx 300) series and partly steelseries arctis series. Also: an actual headset or headphones? Headsets in general are much less worth the money because of the mic, if it's actually needed fine, but if you have an external mic anyways I really wouldn't get one. Also consider if wired is an option.
r/buildapc • Gaming headset recommendations for my husband ->Yea I had a a40 once (in exchange for the God knows worst audio device I ever had - a50) without the mixamp. Yea don't go with them, I was just giving some options, I'm myself full on iems because price to performance is just leagues away.
r/buildapc • Gaming headset recommendations for my husband ->My Astro A50s put me off that brand for life, awful quality, headband pad detached within 12mths, band itself warped and doesnt sit in base ststion correctly, had just over 2 years now and last week the ear pads just fell off lol. Randomly disconnects from the base station and requires a hard reset or complicated fuckery with the Astro program. Persisted with it cos it was $600 but yeah their QC sucks
r/gamingpc • Best pc gaming headset ->I would get the astro a50s. They're seriously comfortable and really good sound quality (atleast in my experience)
r/gamingpc • Best pc gaming headset ->I really enjoy my Astro A50s.
r/gamingpc • Best pc gaming headset ->Like I said, it really depends on how you're going to end up using those headphones. Both Asus rog delta 2 and a50s are very solid choices, though the Asus rog delta 2's have a better mic but worse sound than the Alienware Pros. Is that something that matters to you? You should judge that yourself. The Astro A50X are an awesome pair of gaming headsets from what I know, but they require a base station to use, so you won't be able to use it in planes or whatever if that matters to you, but the A50X have a better mic and better sound than AW Pros AFAIK And neither of these headsets have ANC if that matters to you. Only AW Pros does. I recommend you check out the reviews for these headsets by GadgetryTech on YouTube. He has really good reviews. If price is the only thing that matters to you, then go for the AW Pros. They won't disappoint you.
r/Alienware • Alienware Pro Wireless Headset or Audeze Maxwell? ->Some nice info on the A50’s btw. Holding the middle button and the game chat for 30 seconds resets the headset if it isn’t connecting/charging. Helps me anyway
r/PUBGConsole • What headphones are ya’ll using to hear those footsteps? ->
