After months of testing and watching youtube reviews I went for Beyerdynamic MMX150. Really good mic and decent sound quality, very comfortable, too, for long gaming sessions.
Beyer Dynamic enjoyer. I truly believe no brand offers better bang for buck. MMX 150 is a great headset, great sound profile and clarity with top notch mic clarity, if your ears aren't too big. They can be a bit warm on warm days, I otherwise never had an issue. Changed to 990s recently with a desk mic. Honestly finding them less comfortable at times, the sound is as good I expected but with that more open sound stage thanks to the open back design. Also, I'm personally less loud and shouty. The 990 pros have more clamping force and I wonder if they would have been a better choice.
Beyer dynamic. Hands down the best bang for buck anywhere on the market, and their mmx150 are a great gaming headset option. Really flat sound profile, excellent mic quality. Even their b-ware stuff is worth picking up.
IMO the best way to experience spatial sound in games is not some 7.1 or surround BS, but rather headphones with proper sound staging (read audiophile headphones). Even entry level audiophile headphones are way better at spatial sound than any 7.1 surround sound headsets. I'm currently using the Meze 99 Neo with the boom mic wire. Amazing quality for both the headphones and the mic. I hear more things than I've ever heard with my "surround sound" Corsair VOID. I also have the wired version of https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/p/mmx-150-wireless which is a really good headset, nearly audiophile quality and the Mic is also amazing. The sound is slightly worse than my 99 Neos, but they're still nearly studio quality good.
