"The aforementioned MMX 300 is also an excellent gaming headset too—just $140 overpriced considering its a 770 with a mic."
"The Beyerdynamic MMX300 gen 2s are awesome as well if you can get them under $200. They are pretty much some DT770s with a built in mic and tuned slightly different."

"sometimes I can't be bothered to put it on and I might be playing a game that doesn't need truly immersive sound, or maybe I don't want to mess up my hair and get "gamer-head"."
"The DT770 has such a massive treble spike you will give yourself hearing damage if you don't already have it ... I think it's between 8 and 10. ... I had the MMX 300, which is a DT 770 variant, and I had to stop using them because while they sounded great, sometimes I'd get that ear piercing nails on a chalkboard effect."

The more expensive Beyerdynamic headsets, the MMX 300 and 330 Pro, both have fantastic microphones by gaming headset standards, but they’re also *extremely* sensitive so you’ll want to tweak that. A dedicated separate mic gives you the biggest flexibility because it can be paired with literally any headphone of course, and there’s many different options for microphones, so you can absolutely get a mic that sounds better than the Beyerdynamic headset mics It comes down to preference, do you want the very convenient all-in-one package of a premium headset, or being willing to drop some extra money to get both a good headphone and good mic and also do deeper research into what will be the best two options for you.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best gaming headphones with a GOOD mic? ->Beyerdynamic MMX 300 (Gen 2), goes for roughly 180 Euros. It’s a closed-back headset developed by an actual reputable audio equipment company, not by a bullshit gaming headset brand. https://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/p/mmx-300 Or if you’re set on open-back headsets only, then the PC38X. Goes anywhere from 100 to 170 euros, the price fluctuates. Same as before, made by an actual reputable company. https://drop.com/buy/drop-epos-pc38x-gaming-headset
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Good gaming headsets with actual working mic? ->I did have the MMX 300 Gen 2 at one point but unfortunately I had to return them because of a physically broken/detached microphone, but that’s my own fault for buying them from a third-party seller via Amazon instead of buying from an official retailer lol. The sound is fantastic in terms of being a gaming headset, it’s basically the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80ohm but with a nice mic attached. Definitely a V-shaped tuning but that’s generally desired for gaming for that wow and fun factor.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Good gaming headsets with actual working mic? ->Try beyerdynamic mmx300. Also u dont need ghub running. Devices can remember settings. I also have kb and mouse from logi but using it with ghub turned off.
r/LogitechG • 5 years later. Decided for the g pro x. What is happening? ->I have my second pair open back - akg k7xx from drop, but mmx300 gen 2 is closed and i added dekoni elite sheepskin pads, and its magic for music and games. I use it with sennheiser gsx1000
r/LogitechG • 5 years later. Decided for the g pro x. What is happening? ->So basically you want to look for a lower budget stereo headset - build in micro will lead you automatically to classic gaming headsets. Personally I am using a mmx 300 which is a little over your budget. I’ve never tried the cheaper options from beyerdynamic myself, but I’d say it’s worth a shot since they usually mostly offer good quality stuff: https://www.beyerdynamic.de/p/mmx-150-schwarz-b-ware Don’t get something that is advertised with 7.1 or surround sound since this is just a gimmicky marketing stunt - Hunt uses its own Spatial Audio which requires a pure stereo signal to work properly. 7.1, Atmos etc will not actually work with a headphone which obviously just has a left and right speaker.
r/HuntShowdown • What are some good headphones for hunt? (with a microphone) ->Yeah Reddit is weird sometimes but seriously sound is a very important aspect in hunt, way more compared to other online fps. Main reason is, that a lot of sound cues gives you crucial information about your enemies - and based on that information you make decisions about movement, positioning etc. Without the valuable knowledge from the audio it’s almost as if you’d play blind. Even a set a cheap razer krakens will do the job. I personally bought the mmx 300 mostly for hunt.
r/HuntShowdown • This game is so fucking good ->Are you on PlayStation or Xbox? If you have trouble with directions there might be something enabled like 3D audio in the PlayStation settings. There are pro streamers like Khalamity using 20$ EarPods. So this shouldn’t be a equipment issues. That being said I’m using a MMX300 gen 2 and Soundblaster G6 combo with a own EQ profile I’ve created tailored to the headphones and hunt (I’m playing on PlayStation 5 pro). With a mod mic you can turn any headphone into a headset. The DT 990 pro are quite popular among hunt streamers. But if you are on console you will need something like a soundblaster G6 to use it.
r/HuntShowdown • Headset recommendations for hunt. ->I bought used behr dynamics mmx300s and cleaned and replaced the ear muffs on them. Got em for under 80$
r/buildapc • BEST gaming headset in 2025 ->Unless you buy something like Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro or MMX 300v2.
r/headphones • Are gaming headphones really that bad? ->I’m a fan of the Beyerdynamic MMX300 v2. It’s literally a DT770 with a mic bolted to it. Great sound and has the same awesome comfort level.
r/buildapc • Whats the Best Gaming Headset to Buy Right Now? ->Tried the first variants and they were hands down the worst headset I have ever touched. Small cups, insanely boosted bass, poor mic. Maybe the new models are better. I personally swear to Beyerdynamic, been using the mmx300 v2 for 5+ years, insanely good.
r/gamingsetups • What gaming headphones are the best for pc. ->If you want something that’ll do justice to both your music and War Thunder, I’d seriously look at the **Beyerdynamic MMX 300 (2nd Gen)**. They’ve got a clean, detailed sound with pinpoint imaging, so you can actually tell where things are coming from in-game. For long sessions they’re really comfortable too — Beyerdynamic pads are like pillows. They are wired and on the chunky side, so if you really want wireless there are decent picks like the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but in your price range for pure audio quality, the MMX 300 is one of the few that works just as well for gaming as it does for music.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best sounding gaming headphones for 300€. ->The discontinued MMX300 2nd gen is basically a DT770 with a detacheable cable and mic. The new MMX300 Pro is basically a DT770 Pro X with a mic.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Headphones for gaming that aren't crazy expensive? ->At a thrift store budget, cheap IEMs like the Kiwi Ears Cadenza and Moondrop Chu II offer great value and way better tuning than the Alpha, but they don't surpass it in fidelity which matters more for gaming—especially with EQ. The Alpha's exceptional comfort alone makes it preferable over budget IEMs or budget headphones like the JT1 and M30X. While the Alpha and almost every headset is very overpriced at retail, thrift store finds change the equation. Used DT 770s can be found for under $70, and with a $20 mic are unbeatable value, essentially matching a $300 MMX 300 headset. That doesn't matter though is your total budget is 30 bucks. Dismissing gaming headsets entirely is short-sighted nonsense. The Audeze Maxwell outperforms similarly priced wireless headphones for gaming, while headsets like the PC38X and Corsair Virtuoso Pro are both headsets with great used prices that I'd take over traditional headphones like the HD 599 or Thieaudio Ghost. Though, I'd take a 560S over all four, but it is pretty hard to find a good used deal on the 560. The aforementioned MMX 300 is also an excellent gaming headset too—just $140 overpriced considering its a 770 with a mic.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Which one of these Gaming Headphone is the best? ->I tested: Sennheiser HD490pro, Maxwell Audeze, Beyerdynamic DT 1770 & 1990 Pro MKii, MMX 300 & 330 pro, Hifiman Ananda Nano & Arya Organics and audio-technica ATH-R70x. I found my endgames for music in Arya Organic and FPS the ATH-R70x.
r/gamingpc • Best pc gaming headset ->Same but I’m switching to mmx 300 beyerdybamics just for overall upgrade but my hyper x they for some reason are defaulted to a high audio so everytime I use them I gotta turn the audio down
r/Rainbow6 • What’s a good headset for r6? Budget is around 200$ started to get more into it help please ->If you run some sound software, check that you don't run something like 3D Audio. Just a little hint but it can make a big difference. I run a beyerdynamic MMX 300 and ingame comtac6, works great for me.
r/Tarkov • Best In game Headset!??? ->Beyerdynamix mmx 300. You asked for the best. I have arctis pro wireless, dt 770 and some other studio headphones, but mmx 300 has the sound quality with mic. Steelseries is also the most uncomfortable of those
r/buildapc • Best gaming headsets? ->I recently advised someone to the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 and the person could not be happier. I tested the MMX 300 for a brief period and also loved it and know many people who have beyerdynamic and use it since the dawn of time without any problems. For professional work, I also love them and I it weren't for the size and noice isolation I would have gone with a beyerdynamic on ear DT 700 pro (but for FOH mixing I found an in ear option to be better). If something breaks or wears down you can get a replacement part and because it is wired there is no battery or electronics that die. Also buying just a headphone from beyerdynamic (or Sennheiser, but the consumer part is no longer german, it is swiss nowadays) and then adding a small 10€ lavalier microphone is a great way to go. Really: cant recomment beyerdynamic enough :-D
r/BuyFromEU • Gaming Headset from a European Brand – Any Recommendations? ->If it can be wired: Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro (or 300 if you don't like open) I don't use it on console, but on PC this is crazy good for me :) Comes with a 2.5m cable and has an adapter for the PS5 audio jack In Germany it's 300€ or less, I can't tell about other countries
r/HeadphoneAdvice • 300usd budget, gaming on PS5. Any recommendations? I don`t want to waste my money on ¨Gaming labeled headsets¨ that perform far worse than an audiophile headphone costing half the price. Once you experience what a good headphone sounds like you can`t go back ->I got the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 and the MMX 330 and they are both great, can recommend. The MMX 330 is a bit better I'd say but costs the same.
r/HuntShowdown • Headphone recommendation: Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro vs. Audeze Maxwell Wireless Gaming Headset ->I run beyer dynamic mmx300, and a creative labs x5 DAC. I think they are the best gaming headset for the money. The microphone is great also! They say no power required…but if you want them to come to life you gotta have the high gain on. If you want a cheaper DAC, the creative sb6 also has a gain switch and ran them totally fine… I only upgraded because my daughter broke the sb6. I highly suggest going wired for a better experience, you’ll pay more for less with wireless. The sb6 DAc and mmx300 headset will set you back around 500.
r/ArenaBreakoutInfinite • What Headset Are You Guys Using To Play ABI? ->I am also looking for a new Headset right now and if you want the best sound get the MMX 300. It's not wireless but with wireless you will always sacrifice sound quality. I already have the DT 770 Pro and the sound quality is superb. I heard new details in songs I listended hundred times before. Wireless is convinient, but if you really want the best sound quality get a wired one. Also the MMX 300 is made in Heilbronn the MMX 200 is made in China.
r/BuyFromEU • Gaming Headset from a European Brand – Any Recommendations? ->IMO they are too overpriced. They are just the DT770 Pro 32 ohm with detachable cable and mic.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best headphones for pc gamer? ->That would be nice but it's wrong. If you check specs or read the Sehnheiser FAQ you will learn that MMX300 are the gaming version of the DT770 32ohm as well as the MMX330 are the gaming version of the DT990 32ohm.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best headphones for pc gamer? ->Beyerdynamics MMX 300 if you want one with a mic or dt 700/900 if you don’t.
r/OverwatchUniversity • Recommended Headset with 300 USD ->Don’t go for the cheapest or you will probably buy twice. Save up a bit and go for something midrange :) I have a BeyerDynamics MMX 300
r/VATSIM • Suggestions for some good headsets with boom mics ->As a big audio fan that’s not always the truth. Yes you’ll get better experience on the audio side but build quality isn’t always the truth. Sennheiser for instance has had lots of issues with the batteries for their wireless products, Sony and pioneer for instance had insanely awful hinges on anything that wasn’t into the $400+ range. Hinges are some of the big issues (same with earcups) when it comes to what breaks and you have to remember getting more quality of a product doesn’t mean those elements aren’t still flawed, many high end pairs of headphones for instance aren’t meant to be constantly taken off your head or moved around with heavy. (Very high end headphones aren’t great for gaming btw, they are detailed in ways that don’t get taken advantage of and require high end amps to properly utilize and also aren’t always meant for long sessions, also you gotta realize the environment your in) This is coming from someone with numerous high end headsets, headphones, has gotten to demo and use headphones that are way beyond any logical price point even. With that said many of these companies make also gaming headsets now which are usually eq’d specially more for gaming (the way a driver is set up is very much different for use and what you’re primarily listening to) now with that said the blackshark is nice for long periods since it’s so light and doesn’t overheat you also decent mic. Sennheiser had some good with the Epos line but they got rid of them and don’t support them anymore (they sold off the line) and there was some issues with consistency in them however they were great (I owned multiple pairs in the line and love the h3 hybrid and h6pro (still have them too), however sound wise the beyerdynamic mmx300 is a lot better (it’s that beyer style of sound that’s more clinical just as a heads up and you will need to get a decent amp though you can reuse even an older turtle beach or Astro one if you want one more geared towards gaming)
r/razer • Stay away from Blackshark Razer wireless headsets ->I had the Byerdynamc mmx300 for almost 10 years now. They are fantastic. Switched now to the mmx 200 wireless because I always wanted a wireless. They are realy good
r/HuntShowdown • Headphone recommendation: Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro vs. Audeze Maxwell Wireless Gaming Headset ->I got the MMX300 and they are awesome. Dont know what you mean with quality. Especially beyerdynamics is insane in terms of quality. I also got the DT770 Pro for work and I use them now for 8 years without any problems.
r/BuyFromEU • Gaming Headset from a European Brand – Any Recommendations? ->Please stay away from ASTRO (at least their wireless ones, they are garbage, the wired ones are just not really worth the money but at least fine to use). The only gaming branded actually good headsets I know of are from beyerdynamic mmx (f.e. Mmx 300) series and partly steelseries arctis series. Also: an actual headset or headphones? Headsets in general are much less worth the money because of the mic, if it's actually needed fine, but if you have an external mic anyways I really wouldn't get one. Also consider if wired is an option.
r/buildapc • Gaming headset recommendations for my husband ->I was searching the perfect 3D solution, too and i tryed it all. I end up with Gustard x18, Aune S17 Pro Evo and Hifiman Ananda Nano, optional with Dolby Atmos for headphone but you don´t need to waste so much money. Soundblaster x4 in is currently the best in gaming for 3D audio, Special with the Scoutmode. Sennheiser GSX 1000 2nd Edition driverless very very good. Both setup cheap and good with Beyerdynamics MMX Series Hifiman Ananda Nano was the best i hear for 3D Audio and take a cheap 2nd Hand ADI-2 DAC its the perfect precision on games, i doubt there is a better solution for this price.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Any “Gaming” headphones that are actually good nowadays? ->Beyerdynamic MMX series are the best gaming headsets I've tried. Some people think I have a proper studio microphone. And the sound of the headphones punches way beyond its price point. They have no software and work perfectly with Linux. Otherwise I'd recommend some proper headphones and a separate microphone.
