I use the open back version of the Epos H6pro, they make open and closed versions. Epos and Sennheiser have been a collaboration for a while. There is pretty good directional sound from them. Not sure if it is audiophile worthy.

Check out the Epos H6pro. Epos and Sennheiser collaborate on gaming headsets. It has a removable boom mic and comes in open or closed back options.

I'm probably not the best person to ask. My only other headset was the pcx550 which finally died on me after 8+ years of use. There are a couple of comparisons on youtube, here is one: https://youtu.be/k6extTalnX4?si=f4dmHy7ZS6ewmVdb I got the H6pro because I wanted wired, open back, and thought I would take advantage of the removable mic. Wired because I didn't want to deal with recharging, open back because I need to be able to hear my surroundings and I heard it helps with fatigue from long usage. In practice I never remove the mic so that has not been a beneficial feature. To me they are comfortable and offer a perceived surround sound feel. I can tell if there is something behind me, right, left, or on the floor above.

Sony xm5. It is universally accepted for sounding great. For work, music and phone calls, you can use Bluetooth. A bonus is that it has multipoint connection so the headphones are connected to my phone and my laptop. For gaming, I have an Xbox so I use a wired connection. If we are talking wired headsets, I have used the Razer black shark v2x and the epos H6pro. Both sound great for calls, gaming and music. And they have good mics. Some days I use my Microsoft Xbox wireless headset for everything as well. With an EQ, it sounds pretty good too.

I had the hyper x cloud wireless and the steel series arctis pro wireless. Hyper x cloud sounded trash and broke very easily, arctis pro wireless sounded great but the dock station and batteries kept breaking I had to use them with a wire sometimes.. then after like 6 months they cracked after I dropped them and I could no longer use em. Can’t recommend any of them at all. Have been using the wired Epos H6PRO and they have been Amazing, great sound, great durability. I dropped them so many times by yanking them with a chair by the cable, good as new after 3 years

Thanks! I have been using my Stealth 700 Gen 2 since they came out in 2020 and just switched to the Epos H6Pro open because I tried the Astro A40s at a friends house and fell in love with the feeling of a open back headset (my ears get really hot really fast). Love the Epos but they are sadly wired Found the Atlas Air, was ready to order and then read that they aren't wireless on Xbox. Am mad because they sound like the perfect Headset for me (wireless + open)

No one just looking for a headset cares to fiddle with separate mics, let alone deal with a fucking gigantic stand mic. Pc38x; H6pro open; or if you want old classics a pc360/g4me one, or break your bank for professional hardware.

Cool, i can remove the mic from my h6pro if i just want to use headphones, and i don't sound like a screaming teenager. No need for convoluted jury rigging of shitty bluetooth clipons.

So - I own a lot of headphones and headsets. Good, open-back headphones (if you're OK with some noise leak) are your best bet as others have mentioned from Sennheiser, Beyer, etc. With that said, a pair of EPOS H6Pros are quite decent as a pair of "gaming" headsets in your budget.

You want a clear sounding headset with good bass and a really good mic? Go with Epos H3 or H6. These will do the trick, H6 will overall have a more enjoyable music listening experience and better premium feel/fit but both will be great for what you’re asking.

Senheiser H6Pro has been phenomenal for me. I’ve had Turtle Beach and Astro both fail on me in <6 months, can’t really attest for Steel Series or Razor but I can say Senheiser quality really stands out over anything I’ve looked at

The Drop EPOS PC38X is still arguably one of the best gaming headsets you can buy. I also like the EPOS H6Pro series.

h6 pros are nice, with eq can be considered on par if not better than pc38x, while being much more comfortable (closed version stock pads, or open version with jerzee pads)

If you are going wired I'd try and snatch a deal on some H6Pros while they are still available. The Beyerdynamic MMX300 gen 2s are awesome as well if you can get them under $200. They are pretty much some DT770s with a built in mic and tuned slightly different. For wireless under $200 suprisingly the Pulse Elites are awesome. I still use my Nova Pro Wireless but reach for the Pulse Elites often and they are much cheaper.

I’ve been waiting for the PC38Xs to drop back down to ~$120 on Amazon, which according to the camel they do a lot. While waiting, I read a lot about the Epos H6Pros, which I picked up for ~$80. I like these a lot, but still want to try the 38Xs.
