I'm done with "gaming" headsets. They've all been crap. They all need bloatware to adjust EQ and get the most out of them. Logitech is the best software I've seen but their headsets are now terrible quality unfortunately. That being said if you're set on a headset I'd go for hyperx cloud alphas if they fit your head well. (Best buy has a demo rack you can wear for a bit to check). I saw them on Amazon and BB for 140. Look at the Cloud III S if you want a slightly better mic and better drivers with a bit more EQ control. You don't have to download ngenuity but it uses very little system resources if you do and is simple. The DAC's on steel series do nothing for audio clarity or gain until you get to the Nova pros which are $300, (255 for Xbox).

I have alphas and I really like them but I got mine a few years ago and the quality has really gone down since HP bought them

If you're on the budget go buy cloud alpha. These were listed above cloud 2 back in the days and the sound quality is amazing. You can get them for like 50$ now. Gaming, music, movies - everything sounds amazing. Alphas have better drivers than cloud 2/3 as they use dual-chamber drivers. The frequency range is one of the best (13Hz-27kHz) and with 65ohm indepence you won't hear any "white noise". Mic and cable both fully detachable.

I'm voting HyperX. I have the Cloud Alpha and it is comfortable, the sound is really good, the mic is excellent and the battery lasts FOREVER. I used to have a logitech G930 and I had to recharge that almost every day, with my HyperX I can use it for WEEKS without having to charge it. Would definitely buy again.

Brother, 7.1 surround is a gimmick. It actually makes the sound worse imo, and funnily enough I can pinpoint directions better with it off (cloud alpha S). From what I know, the driver is slightly better on cloud alpha, but it's not a drastic difference. As long as you have any good sounding headphones you'll do just fine with directions. in fact I highly recommend forgetting about "Gaming" headsets and getting good "audiophile" headphones, more often than not it'll actually be better for music AND for games I used to get called out for having wallhacks even when I was using the free Samsung buds that came with my phone, what you use doesn't matter as much as you think

I’ll throw in a simple tip. If you wear glasses, go for headsets with softer fabric style ear pads. Leatherette types press against the frames and it gets annoying fast. The Nova 7 and Cloud Alpha both handle this better than most. Comfort ends up being the real deal breaker for long sessions.

DT 700 Pro x is goated. Coming from gaming headsets, it was like I unlocked music and honestly on spotify lossless on certain tracks, i actually felt like I was in the god damn studio listening to the singers. Gaming is great too. Although one thing that really weirded me out is coming from hyper x cloud alphas where everything was loud, that in fact not all parts of the music should be loud (special cases where the artist intended for a part of the music to be quieter did get through my hyper x headset but on my dt 700 pro x, this effect is just felt on all music) Also getting used to the lack of that "rumbling" bass was a bit difficult as I always asked myself why the fuck aren't these speakers rumbling my shit, but on tracks where the bass guitar for example is the main focus, it's like the raw sound you would expect in real life, not just a reproduction) TLDR: If you find these for a good price OP, you should get them. For me they were the same price as dt 770 pro, it just meant longer shipping time so I just chose the 700 Pro X.
