I would just get the same headset if possible, if that’s what you’re satisfied with. 95% of gaming headsets just have “okay” sound. Couple of notable outliers here and there. Pc38x comes to mind with its open back design and wide soundstage. Maybe an amp/dac could help with a wired headsets audio quality a bit. Some actually come with one already. If you really cared about audio quality, you’d have to go down the audiophile route and use a dedicated headphone with a separated mic. Same is true if you wanted the “best” mic quality. I had that audiophile setup, but downgraded back to a wireless headset because I prefer the convenience over quality. It’s also a Hyper X Flight S I’ve been using for the past 5 years that somehow hasn’t died on me. Rtings.com is a good source for reviews
You're not going to get the best audio quality with wireless. PC38x with a DAC/AMP combo. Treading into audiophile territory. Nothing beats the soundstage of an openback headphone. Or your choice of openback headphones and a Modmic/seperate mic. Only con is sound bleeding from your outside surroundings. When I had my HD 598 SR, there were times I instinctively turned around from the audio. I'm on a Hyper X Flight S now. Doesn't sound anywhere near as good, but nothing beats the convenience of wireless. Wireless have limitations on how good they can sound, and part of that is because the mic channel also has to go through that 2.4ghz signal. Which is why I say don't overspend on a wireless headset, because theres a point of diminishing point of return in audio quality. Turtlebeach Atlas are like the only open back wireless headset I can think of.
They’re mostly fine. Which is going to be satisfactory for 95% of people. Yeah there’s some “bad” options but only if you really cheap out. If you’re not an audiophile, then you fall into that 95%. I had an entry level audiophile setup for a while. Games sounded really immersive with my open back sennheiser headphones. I would instinctively turn around sometimes from in game noises. Sound bleed and low bass were the only cons, separate mic and wires were another for me. I gave up the audio quality for some wireless headphones (Hyper X Flight 1 years > Hyper X Flight S 5+ years and counting). Been my setup for the past 6 years and idk how they’ve never broken. The convenience of wireless and all in one is perfect. Games still sound fine, bass is decent, no sound bleed, no wires. I’m satisfied.

Hyper X Flight S, because after like 5 years they refuse to die for whatever reason I actually use the wireless charging feature all the time
My HyperX Cloud Flight wireless headset has been solid since 2019, but I’ve been considering a new set because the padding is fading. The HyperX treated me well, so I’ll most likely get another pair from that brand. I trust my own experience over any online reviews. Maybe try out some that have a decent return policy until you find the right one? Edit: I’ve just learned HyperX was acquired by HP in 2021, so I’m going to assume quality has dropped since then.
If you can increase your budget to 8k, I would highly recommend the HyperX cloud Flight wireless. They use a 2.4g dongle so latency is almost nonexistent. Sound and mic the best in their class. You will find them open box on HyperX pk website.
Hyper x cloud flight wireless. Love mine so much. Had it for 4 years now.
Yeah, I was first deciding between the Bose QC Ultra and the Momentum 4. But after some research\*\*, I\*\* found that they only work with Bluetooth, which would be a pain for me because I mostly use headphones for gaming. Would you recommend a desk microphone to pair with the Maxwell or Fractal? I used to use a Cloud Flight before this Arctis Nova 7 and I really enjoyed that headset. It was very comfortable; the only thing I didn't like that much was the microphone. Do you know how the Cloud III compares to it?
I have been using my hyperx cloud flight gaming headset for 7 years now. Sound quality is great, I only have had to change the ear muffs out from being worn from usage. They are $70.
